I lost my cousin to the Covid virus on Valentine's Day 2021 and Casa De Paz was one of the funeral homes that came up on my DuckDuckGo search. These people are the most caring and wonderful people I've ever dealt with. My cousin was a veteran and we planned on burying him at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder city. After leaving nine voice messages and because the Memorial Cemetery is so busy and overwhelmed in these Covid times no one called us back. The Director at Casa de Paz drove out to Boulder city and went far beyond the call of kindness to secure us a plot for my cousin. All the staff from the top down were so wonderful and the price was very fair ( thousands less than other places), I don't know why anyone would go elsewhere to have a wake and a burial for their loved one. Most of our family is back east And the elsewhere throughout the country and weren't going to travel with this Covid pandemic. So Casa de Paz set up a zoom stream so all of the family & friends could login and view the wake and military honors ceremony just as if they were sitting in the chapel. When I called to get information, they seem very nice. They said they are one of the few funeral homes that have their own cremation. Most would have you go to another location for that, which I was told it's by law, and it makes sense you can't just have cremation at the residential area/neighborhood. My dad passed away before I could call other funeral homes for info and pricing and since I spoke to Fernando here, I felt I had sufficient information to go ahead and select Casa de Paz Funeraria when I had to make the hard decision and let the hospice know where his body should go to. After we went through all the papers, picked dates, etc. that's where I feel they were disorganized. The timing of the service kept changing on us. At first we were told we have x time but then later they said we have y time...I didn't feel confident in their commitment on timing so it was a little unsettling. On the day of the service, they tried their best to set things up for us. They were respectful to leave us alone and only provided what we need or asked for, which is fine. The facility looks a little dated, FYI. The cremation turned out to be at a different location and it was not aligned with what Fernando said when I first called, so I feel like I was falsely informed. The cremation is about 10 min from the funeral home and it looked like a very nice, modern facility. I also requested later for an additional death certificate and when I called, I gave them my address to send that to yet they some how didn't...I had to call them to follow up and after that, they did. The 2 stars is because I feel like they could have been better with the details. At times when you are already stressed, hurting because you loss a loved one, you need someone you can lean on and count on. I just feel this place is ok but needs alot of nudging and improvements hence the 2 stars. read more

My family used this home last year when my aunt passed. Most of the services were fine. When retrieving the body, my relatives said their goodbyes, I said mine & exited the apartment waiting. I began to cry for the first time since her passing hours earlier and an employee retrieving the body scolded me, "you stop that. It's your job to be strong for everyone else." The moment passed and I did nothing. What can I say mid grief when an employee in the grief industry shamed me for experiencing grief. Shame to you, that's horrible for you as a company. Your business is grief and my first dropped tears earned me a lecture for feeling my feelings. Shame to you! I'd rather pay triple and be allowed the dignity of my emotions. read more

To Whom It May Concern at Casa de Paz Funeraria, This is Chenelle Hoch. When last we spoke, you indicated that the Death Certificate for my mother, Colleen Quicksey, would be sent within the week. It is now October 29, 2021, and I still have not received the death certificate or an update on its status from anyone in your establishment. My experience with Casa de Paz Funeraria has been horrendous. It started with racial slurs, which segued to accusations that I was a stranger trying to cremate someone they did not know. I was even told on multiple occasions that I would have to consult a "man," namely my brothers" before I "arbitrarily" started the cremation process. I have done all the required paperwork, sent photocopies of my DL and my mother, obtained copies of my birth certificate, and had all the forms notarized, literally jumping through all of the requested hoops. Your company was more than OK taking my money before authenticating my identity. Yet, I was treated with suspicion, toxic masculinity, and prejudice in the form of criminal Jim Crow laws every step of the way. Not only has no one from your company apologized, but they continued to make demands of me. My concerns and that of my family have been ignored, categorically. I want to offer your company another chance to change my impression of how you operate a company supposed to provide compassionate service to grieving loved ones. According to the Southern Nevada Health District: Death certificates are usually processed within two business days of receiving your order. Once the order is processed, you will receive an email requesting payment. Once payment is received, the death certificate will be printed and sent to you via standard mail. If you have not received the certificate within ten days of paying for your order, call (702) 759-1010 to check on the status. I was made to get Notarized letters at additional personal cost when according to the Southern Nevada Health District, the I.D. requirements are as follows: You must submit a clear copy of your valid photo identification with the application. Valid photo identification includes: Driver's License U.S. Passport Current US Military ID If you do not have or cannot provide valid photo identification with your application, you may order a death certificate in person instead. So my questions are: 1. Why were we being lied to? 2. Why did you require so many additional documents when the state does not require those documents? 3. Did you request those documents from a position of prejudice? 4. Why would I pay almost $2,000.00 for a service if it was not for my mother? And why was I treated as a criminal for doing so? I understand the capacity is very limited due to COVID but they do not have to be rude about it especially when we are going for something that isn't easy to us. Jose was the receptionist and I continuously told him there was less than 20 people and he kept insisting there wasn't when people clearly kept coming out. His attitude that day just added on to what we were experiencing, on top of them getting the day of passing wrong. We are very disappointed with this funeral home and how their staff was that day. read more

They were very encouraging with helping my brother and I with making arrangements for an out of state memorial service. Other places were not willing to help with this. My dad died and I stg I have never seen someone who looked so dead I was traumatized. Nightmares for weeks my dad was gray and green his lips were chapped he looked well dead. They were supposed to make him look like he was sleeping with colored cheeks but they did the complete opposite. It's been a hard year for my family and me. My grandma had just came to visit from El Salvador, and passed here in Vegas. Jose in Casa de Paz Funeraria was the best during these times. He was very understanding and did everything the best he could. Her body was send to El Salvador, she was in the good condition we had left her in for the viewing in Vegas. I have to say, that in times of need things can be very difficult I would like to mention how this funeral home has fully fulfilled everything + more that we asked for on our grandmas life that was taken! They were compassionate helped us out and really did everything they said they would to the T! I can only give them 5 stars but if I could give 10 I would not only was my grandmas body in, El Salvador on time for us to do the burial services out there but they were consistent with dates and the quality of my grandmas body was impeccable the same way we saw it at the viewing in Las Vegas was the same way it was in El Salvador.
