Inexcusable failure from La Paloma Funeral Services. We chose their services because we had used them eight years prior for my father's funeral. Their family oriented practices have now become more commercialized. Cecilia was quick to present their a la carte menu, charging for every step in the process and even quicker to charge our credit cards for the full payment, with no option for deposits. Once everything was signed and money received, getting a callback or timely response from Cecilia for updates or questions became difficult. Good luck if you get it in the same day. We decided to use their Summerlin location and increase the reception time by one hour (additional charge). Communication between locations was also difficult because we were told to channel scheduled preliminary visits or questions to our original representative Cecilia (Stephanie location). After receiving limited or delayed responses we were instructed to call the Summerlin location directly and speak to Nicole, who was extremely helpful and accommodating to our requests and inquiries. We planned on providing food, decorations, additional seating, and crew to assist with the reception. La Paloma communicated that they would be handling the clean up at the end of the reception. Now for the major disappointments: The Saturday event itself and the reception. In the package that Cecilia sold us, it was supposed to include a clergy member to lead religious affirmations and prayer as my mother was a devout Filipino Catholic. We did our due diligence by arriving two hours early to ensure we could handle all setup, including decorations, table arrangement, and food preparation. All La Paloma had to do was to allow early access to the space and Clergy. Well they TOTALLY FAILED AND DROPPED THE BALL on the clergy! Fifteen minutes before the service. No clergy, no clue. The two La Paloma workers called and texted Cecilia and anyone they could, one after another. They couldn't get an answer, response or even a callback to communicate what was happening. You mean to tell me, on a Saturday at 10:45am no one can pick up a phone or answer a text because it was not normal business hours? Great service! We ended up having to proceed on our own volition to conduct the farewell for our mother. In a room of over 80 attendees, we had to apologize for the absence of religious representation. How embarrassing we had to communicate this on such a emotional day. La Paloma didn't even step up to say anything. We persevered and continued the services, hoping the clergy would arrive late. Nothing from La Paloma management: no late arrival, no response, no idea. For the reception and clean up. Although our reception was scheduled until 2:00pm, it was made evident that they wanted to start their efforts to push before then. Their staff was not prepared and were frantically trying to clean for the next service. Thank goodness our family and friends were proactive to make sure everything was out by 2:00pm, I wouldn't put it past them to charge us. Cecilia from La Paloma didn't call until Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. Cecilia apologized for the mistake and took responsibility for not arranging the Clergy person. Excuses that fell on deaf ears, especially not hearing from her not hour later, not 4hours later, but almost 48 hours later. Cecilia's suggested recourse was to offer a $250 refund or reschedule another clergy member for a secondary prayer offering. What the hell justification does that provide for my family after the fact? Sorry Mom, La Paloma didn't come through because they forgot to provide you with a religious and spiritual representation, so they want us to go through everything all over again. I shed enough of my tears when saying my farewells to you mom. I won't do it again for some lame apology. This has tainted and overshadowed the entire experience for my family, our friends and all the relatives watching overseas. I guarantee you have lost any future business from our family and anyone that hears this. Trust me. read more

My wife passed on March 9 and was sent to La Paloma because my funeral home in Alabama reached out to this funeral home. I flew back to Alabama and her body did not arrive until the March 25, my funeral home was calling ever day to get updates. The problem was stated that the doctors would not sign the paperwork. I finally buried her on the March 27, the whole time I've been waiting for a death certificate which has now been more than a month so I called and talked with Nicole who notified me the death certificate was never ordered it but I already paid for it in Alabama. How many deceased pass through a funeral home without a death certificate? Nicole was nice enough to send me the link to the SNHD to order them which still takes 2-4 weeks, meanwhile I can't file for her insurance until I receive the certificate. I'm not impressed with the quality or concern showed by this company and I would not recommend it to others. read more

AWFUL AWFUL experience. My brother unexpectedly passed away and his body was sent to their care by default. After a day of rude customer service, specifically with the summerlin branch manager, and after being told we could not see the body for 6 days, we switched morgues. Legally morgues are not allowed to deny you the right to see your loved one. I'm guessing they will use the loop hole of 'oh, we are not denying you, you just have to wait 6 days'. my parents were flying in from seoul to see their dead son, and they still would not budge. palm northwest mortuary was COMPLETELY different. more respectful interaction AND MUCH MORE ACCOMODATING for our requests to see my deceased brother. every interaction with La Paloma felt like it was a business transaction as they try to charge their exorbitant fees. quite possibly the worst business/customer service interaction I've ever had for any business, ever in my life. if you find yourself in the unfortunate circumstance of having your deceased loved one in their awful care, just call another morgue and they will have them transferred elsewhere. personally i would highly recommend Shane over at Palm Northwest. read more

HORRIBLE Customer Service!!! We had to wait days before we could even speak to anyone in charge, we were misinformed through the process, we left several messages with no returned calls, when we finally did receive paperwork from them there were multiple errors. We spoke to many, many receptionists, the manager in charge of arrangements Lori, and the office manager Annette. None of them gave any condolences and very little empathy. Instead, we were given an attitude, them dismissing our complaints and trying to rush us off the phone. We request to be contacted the day before the cremation, but we were not. Lori finally called back only to ask if a non-family member that contacted them could get a copy of the bill. We reiterated that no one else was authorized to receive ANY information or documentation. Lori had time to talk to the non-family member but did not have time to call us back. We even had to call to find out the status of the ashes. If we were not so distraught, we would have moved the body to a different funeral home. The entire process was just horrible from the beginning to the end. We could not have chosen a worse place to deal with! read more

I am writing this with a very frustrated POV. Not necessarily toward the vet; she treated my pet with the ultimate kindness, concern, and tenderness towards us as we had to lose our pet and put her down from her sickness and age. We chose a cremation package that would cremated our animal, and return her remains to use in a keepsake tin box, and a paw print of our animal. Having put her down, getting home from this sad occasion, we decided to call back, change the package by getting a loc of her hair included, they charged us the upgraded package that would include a keepsake frame, the paw print, and either the tin box or a wooden urn type thing. Now, here is what I am upset about. As a retail display artist, and artist, customer services are key in matching the quality and presentation to anything that involves the emotional attachment to a deceased loved one, or family pet. You want to ensure your client has something that they will cherish and appreciate when dealing with a loss. The price you pay should match the quality you receive. Right? I was hoping, key word her, HOPING. That I was paying for something that would give me hope knowing my beloved pet of 14 years would be resting in something that I can celebrate her life with for the rest of my life. Well, here is what really came back. I was handed a white happy meal box with black and grey bones printed on it, as I opened the box I see a small dollar store tin box with the same print on it, with a very nicely printed card from Sunset Eastern Animal Hospital, and a dollar store plastic frame that had a bent colored paper in it with a xerox paw print, a tiny loc of hair with a tiny bow glued to it, and some other cards, flyers, media. Dollar store tin box. Some of you may think well that's cute... NO, that's not a keepsake anything for a deceased beloved pet. There is nothing that says quality, concern for the client, care, or keepsake in a cheap tin box, and a dollar store plastic frame with colored craft paper thats even wrinkled. How would you feel, how would you share this with your family, your kids? What would even give anything that said that my money paid for a top tier with this? I don't think so! If you are offering the condolences to your client with this special package of your animal, or even a loved one, you follow through with a package that is designed with thought behind it, the physiology behind it, the attachment to their pet behind it. Not some cheap dollar store rip off your clients presentation that makes you wonder if they cared at all. Because if I didn't care enough I would have just let my pet die, buried it somewhere in nature and called it a day. I spent my hard earned money, after spending thousands on trying to save my pet on sending her off with the hopes that loved matched my love I gave her those 14 years. I think La Paloma pet cremation should hire someone that has a sensibility, care, and concern of the reaction of their paying clients in mind, not how much they care rip off their customers to make a fast buck. They had three options, I picked the middle option, and paid for the top option in the end. Isn't there some kind of commonsense here that would dictate your concern to ensure your grieving family would get this "KEEPSAKE" of their pets remains in something more classy, more quality, and something that resolved in care you should provide. REALLY! So knowing this is really long, I am sorry, but do not use La Paloma, they are taking you for a ride. Price -Euthanasia: (Vet) $89 (take the body) -No ashes $157 -Ashes in a tin box with paw print $236 -Wood or metal ink paw print$294 Dollar store tin box, McDonalds style happy meal box, and a cheap dollar store frame on crinkled craft paper. Not worth $294 After speaking to La Paloma Pet Cremation here is what happened. Well, now the La Paloma Pet Cremation is telling me out of thousands of cremations, he has never heard of this crazy complaint. WOW, really! Well, maybe you need to learn how to communicate with customers who are grieving and had higher expectations. The gentleman with whom i spoke to was rather frustrated and upset with me because he had never had any problems before. He agreed that the tin box and frame only cost $5. So, I paid $294 for a service that only cost you $157, then he proceeded to tell me that it cost time to pick up the pet, drive the pet there, use a thousand dollar piece of equipment... bla, bla, bla. But for some reason he didn't get the disconnect of $157 - $294, and a $5 tin box and cheap frame. So, I am having a crazy conversation with him???? REALLY! There is a physiology behind how you present a grieving family with a keepsake of their beloved pet. Yet, I am the crazy one having this conversation to someone who is more upset on the phone and defensive than me. WOW, This was a scam for services not rendered. The actual fucking problem is this. Mitch was polite but very kind of just emotionless and to the point. He was a nice guy and got the job done. My moms last wishes were cremation and ashes taken back to NY. So not a lot of fancy stuff in the end. Pricing was fair for the service. After all said and done it was about 1200.00. They told me two weeks for the cremation and it was a week and a half. *This review is for their pet cremation service only* A few weeks ago our oldest baby passed away at home. :( He was a spoiled 13 year old cat that lived a great life. It was very early in the morning, and we did not have time to wait until our veterinarian's office opened, so we took him to the Veterinary Emergency + Critical Care hospital. They are open 24/7 and conveniently located near our home. The staff at the hospital were very helpful and caring. They took our baby and said that they do cremations through La Paloma. We basically had 2 choices, which was a communal cremation for $50 or an individual cremation for $180. We chose the individual cremation, which included: -oak urn with name engraved -frame with a paw print and a loc of hair -velveteen bag I believe if you deal with La Paloma directly, they give you a variety of urns and keepsakes to choose from. However, given the circumstances, we just did not have time for that. We were told that it would take a week, but it was actually only 3 days. They did a nice job with everything. They quickly came to the house, helped us through their options and less than a week later we were able to pick up our dogs ashes at their office. Two weeks ago our eldest dog drowned. Around 6 years ago, My family used La Paloma Pet Cremation for two of our cats and the boxes came with a beautiful plaque that we had their names and birthdays engraved in and it had a space for a photo and we opted for the additional photo frame with a tuft of hair and paw print. Came to around $150-$200. Recently we had another cat pass away and wanted to use the services of La Paloma again since the first time we were very pleased. This time...I would NOT be using this company again. Placed the order online and was contacted by a young lady. She offered her condolences and was extremely friendly. We opted again for the engraved box and the separate photo frame with the paw print and tuft of hair. Was told someone would pick up my cat from the vet and take care of him and would let me know when the box and frame would be ready back at the vet for pick up. In that conversation the young lady asked if I wanted the hair and the paw print inserted in the box or separate, I specifically said separate. A week goes by, finally my pet was ready to pick up at the vet. I got a nice bag with the box in it. I took the box out and they put the tuft of hair and paw print IN the box after I specifically said separate. I had called and spoke with someone maybe named "Paul" and I had asked where my frame was. He told me and I quote "we use $1 frames from Ikea, if you want us to pick the box back up we can do it for you, but you might as well buy a nice $5-$8 frame and slip the paper out and do it yourself with a nice frame." I asked why did I pay the extra $25 for? He told me simply it was for the "labor" of doing it. Really? The labor? Your website has NO mention that it would NOT come with a frame and would only be a "cheap" $1 IKEA frame. I could've cut off some hair and done a paw print myself for less than $25 including a frame. Guess I'll go get my own frame for an additional cost, nicer than apparently a $1 ikea frame. On top of this "cost saving" frame that I was told about, their advertisement with their phone number and website was ENGRAVED wtf?! $170 for a photo box with an advertisement and NO frame...what a joke! You're better off having your pet cremated and make your own box on eBay or amazon or even Etsy! La Paloma...thanks for your cost saving, incorrect information and 50% of your employees that seem to not care about your clients. I would recommend this company MAYBE for cremation and the cheapest box or container you can get..go on Etsy and get a nicer box and get your pets paw print and hair done with a kit you can order on amazon for $20 yourself...and advertisement free.
