Fabulous. Cheap and cheerful. It's a very streamlined business model; you mark what you want on a piece of paper and when you're ready you press a call button for them to take your order. They'll read it out to you to ensure it's correct. When you're ready to pay there's a "pay" button as well. They take card (including contactless). The food is fantastic. Last time I went I got an order of flautas and some guacamole. The guac is just okay realistically but it's a massive portion for ~$50 MXN. The flautas were amazing. Definitely would order again. All in all it's simple food at a great price and an easy experience. What more can you ask for? Will absolutely return. read more

Right in the heart of the city is this super clean restaurant with the most amazing breakfast choices. The wait staff are friendly and very attentive. The food is outstanding with great portions to keep you full. The true winner here for me though was the cappuccino! Holy hot coffee in a cup of deliciousness. Pretty popular place for Mexican food. The pozole soup is definitely my favorite. The meat I choose is a little fatty, but they have options if you want leaner protein or just veggie. It is very well seasoned. The tostada is not that great, I think mainly because I don't like the protein I choose. It has a kinda weird texture, and the coating sauce is a little too sour for me. The eggs are okay, pretty standard with red and green salsa. Try to avoid peak lunch/dinner time so you don't have to wait in long line. read more

Always the best service! Great food. I've had Tacos Dorados de papa Chicken flautas & Tacos de Pastor All the salsas are delicious POSOLE is the most popular dish. For a reason! So so good. Topped with cabbage onions & cilantro. Comes with fresh made in house tortillas. I've also had the Arroz con Leche Just like mom's! Well almost. Close. Recently had breakfast there. Red chilaquiles. Topped with chicken &scrambled eggs. Black beans orange juice & coffee. Best coffee I've had in Mexico. Hint of chocolate. The cocoa Mexican kind. & the aroma! Best smell every time the cup touched my lips. Salsa on chilaquiles was a tad bland but a bit of salt fixes that. (More of a personal taste) Service of course is always spectacular!! When we first walked sat down the waiter didn't think I understood Spanish and I heard him want to switch with his co-worker because he recognized we were American and said "no quiero trabajar tan duro". At the time I didn't understand what he meant by that but once I ordered nearly the entire menu I understood. After walking 30k we were starving and this place did not disappoint! The pozole was the best followed by the sope. The tacos were good I wasn't a big fan of the biftec tacos but everything else was great. Our waitress did a phenomenal job for some reason she would pick up our plate and run to our table not sure why but she laid an impression and I left a 25% tip. read more

I'll add a new location to Yelp soon when I have access to a laptop. The place I ate tonight is a relatively new location in eje centro, street Simon Bolivar number 58. Next to the semi-famous street tacos Coyuco. This larger chain that has over a dozen outlets in metropolitan Mexico City is truly a gem provider of fast, clean, tasty food. The service by an army of folks on duty is eye popping. Immediately upon sitting down a server presents guacamole and a bowl of the biggest fried pork rinds you have ever seen. They looked fantastic, not at all greasy. But my health conscious wife is sitting across the table so of course I can't have them. I get toasted tortillas instead, they are quite wonderful as well. Got the guacamole. Pozole is a specialty here. A small bowl costs 54 pesos, a giant bowl is priced at a whopping 59 pesos. Bambie got the vegetable (wussy), I got the combo with beef cheek and cartilage. Took about 135 seconds for the bowls to arrive. The vegetarian broth tastes remarkably different than the meaty bowl. Both are wonderful. The bowls brim with ingredients. All the elements are balanced, just right salty, tangy, sweet and sour. The onions and hominy have just the right amount of chew. Not greasy, no oil floating on top of the broth. I lived in Mexico City in the late 1970's. I lived in Salinas California for 17 years which has a 75% Mexican population. I've eaten a 1,000 bowls of pozole. This $4 bowl is one of the best I've ever eaten. Drank a bottle of beer, had a big bowl of guacamole ( excellent quality) Bambie had a mineral water, I finished with an excellent flan. Total bill was 263 pesos. My jaw dropped. How do they do it? We at at cafe de Tacuba 3 nights ago. The bill was 5X more. The food was no better, fancier but not more satisfying. I love good home made style food. I love a bargain. This place provides both. Bambie and I were the only gringos in the place. What the hell are you waiting for? Highly recommended! read more

Casa de Toño is the place to be at any hour, considering it's 24/7. Just landed in CDMX? Casa de Toño. Coming back from the club? Casa de Toño. Hangover the next morning? Casa de Toño. The pozole here is the golden standard. The flautas are also a huge hit. Otherwise, everything else is pretty ok, but you simply can't beat the prices, which is why I give this place a 4/5 rating. You can order huge amounts of food and spend so little. Nonetheless, if you want fast and reliable Mexican comfort food, look no further than here. read more

First meal of our Mexico City adventures! Highly recommended by our Airbnb host, Casa de Toño was mediocre. I had the Enchiladas Verdes, which were unfortunately overly covered in sour cream. I couldn't enjoy any of the other flavors. I also tried one of the tacos and found it to be too salty. I did however enjoy the chips and salsas that came at the beginning of our meal. Service was nice and fast and there's lots of seating. Seems like a popular spot with locals and maybe we misordered, but compared to the other food we ate on the trip, Casa de Toño failed to wow. read more

This place was hot according to reviews. Put my name in and waited a good 45 minutes for a table. Very high paced place and felt more like a fast food joint once I sat down. Ordered the assorted flautas and a chicken quesadilla with cheese. Note: quesadillas here (and maybe in all of this region) are like a hot pocket of sorts...like an empanada if you're familiar with those. Anyway service was good and servers are on the move. As far as my food goes, I found it just ok. Not worth the wait in my opinion. The chicken in the quesadilla was totally boring. It wasn't seasoned and tasted like....well, nothing. We took an estacion Mexico free walking tour of downtown and asked our tour guide for a recommendation. She said, even though this is a chain restaurant, it has great authentic Mexican food. So we took her up on her offer! The pozolo was recommended to us, and it was delicious. Sort of like a tortilla soup. We got the flautas, frijoles enchiladas, and the guacamole. All were great! We especially liked all the salsa options, especially the salsa verde. It was a great first lunch in Mexico City! read more

The prices here are amazing for what you get. We came here one evening after walking around el central. Checked yelp and we knew we couldn't go wrong heading here. The food was tasty and service was fast. It was almost like they had your plate ready when you arrived. I ordered the tacos dorados and they came out hot and covered with lettuce, cheese, and crema. We took a walking tour and the guide highly recommended Casa de Toño as the best chain restaurant in the city, and he was surprised when we told him we'd found it and ate their the evening before. Unfortunately, I overindulged at the Hilton's executive lounge (5 stars, btw) happy hour so I wasn't really very hungry. But who doesn't love Mexican food, so I figured I'd be lured into eating a meal. The Centro chain was very clean and inviting, with excellent service. Pictures of the food helped with the ordering decisions. But I was really tempted by any of the dishes and ended up ordering a soup dish with vegetables and mushrooms. Trays of sauces and accompaniments were put on the table, so I added lettuce, radishes, herbs, and lime to my soup. It was OK. I'm would rate the service as an A, the ambience as a B, and my dish was a C+. I admit I wasn't very hungry, but could have been tempted by a nice cheesy mushroom quesadilla. read more

My wife and I visited this place on December 9, 2018 while in Mexico city. The place is very clean and service is really good and fast. We had the pozole, quesadillas and sopes and all we very good. I guess it is an acquired taste to like mexican food. Also the price is reasonable. By the way, we barely spoke spanish so the staff were very accomodating and helped us in our orders, there is a menu in english and also the menu is displayed on every table. read more

I wish they had this chain here in the US! Solid Mexican food, with all kinds of options available. They are known for their pozole, which we had to get, since I haven't found a good place in LA to try it yet. We also ordered their molletes, one of their mole tacos, and their quesadillas, which interesting looked more like an empanada than anything else. Their service is rather fast, and they have this interesting layout where the host is downstairs and you need to check in with him to get a number before he calls the number and lets you upstairs to the restaurant. Not sure if all of the locations are like this but it is pretty good crowd control. All the food was amazing and their salsas are incredibly spicy! They also have a nice cerveza selection that is quite well priced (honestly everything in CDMX is so cheap). I got so full just off the pozole alone, given their rather large portion sizes. Would love to come back and eat more delicious noms! read more

This eatery is my daughter's "go to" place when visiting CDMX. It is on second floor of a nice, modern Mall. I would recommend the Pozole de pollo. Very tasty. Menu has a great selection of "comida Mexicana". Reasonably priced. Lively atmosphere. If at all possible, ask for a window seating. Great place to relax & watch people on avenue below. Menudo was just well seasoned and meat was tender. Only thing I wish I could find more is menudo with option for hominy. It's a preference thing for me . But, this menudo was tasty and paired with homemade tortillas and delicious salsa. I Enjoyed it very much! read more
