My biggest qualm however is that they are pretty strict about the 2h dining time. Yet, service was slow the night I was there and food took forever to arrive so the entire dinner felt very rushed. Wonderful Portuguese spot tasty staples and interesting drinks. We ordered the chicken, rice and salad to share for family of three. It was just enough as we were not terribly hungry. If you are, that portion may not be enough. We also had a rhubarb spritzer that had a fresh, unique taste. Service was very fast. Would recommend and would return. read more

I walked out of here having eaten more in one sitting than I'd eaten in days. The food is just that good. Given the small menu, though, you just don't see it coming. It's so small, I had no trouble ordering. That's a first. However, it's pretty well-rounded, with a decent balance of seafood, meat, and veggies, and needless carbs. For my smorgasbord of a dinner, I ordered the Pork Croquettes which I are a shareable menu item; crispy on the outside creamy on the inside. Would I order them again? Probably not as they weren't that amazing, and I don't like eating pork. It's not bad for an appetizer, though. For my main, I got their only main option. Yes, you read that right. But, you know what? They can get away with it. The Piri Piri Chicken is a half-portion of chicken grilled and seasoned to absolute perfection, and comes with a spicy piri piri sauce (blessedly) on the side; trust me, it packs quite a kick, but it is well-worth the drizzle on that chicken, as it isn't overpowering, but adds the right amount of heat to it. If you can't stand spicy foods, you could always go for the version with oregano or lemon and herb. As a side, I would either recommend the African Rice or Batana Fries. The slaw isn't bad, but is a bit too sour for my tastes. For dessert, I had to go for the traditional Arroz Doce (rice pudding), with a dash of cinnamon. It's simple, but unforgettably comforting. Sorbet, ice cream, and other sweet delicacies- as well as dessert wines- also abound. Booze-wise, I wouldn't splurge too much on the cocktails, as they could be better, but if you like your wine, they have an impressive selection of Portuguese wines, known for their sweetness and well-balanced flavours. We fancied something different from "Fish" when we visited Borough Market. I had found this place online...it looked interesting Of course we went for the chicken piri piri (would it be as good as (the previous version of) La Rampa in Monchique we wondered). It was good, as were the Patatas Fritas...more moist than the drier, hotter version we were used to, but still very tasty...and moreish We finished with the almond cake (well you have to) and coffees. We had 3 glasses of rouge and one of white between us. Total including service £69 So what was wrong...well, we had a bit of a dozy waitress...despite repeating ourselves umpteen times when ordering, she brought us 1 plate of chicken & 1 plate of fries to share rather than the 2 portions of each we repeatedly asked for. The problem was, nobody around us had ordered the same at the time...and they were decent sized dishes...and we had never been before...so who knew. And by the time our neighbouring table was straining with 4 very full dishes, it was all too late A learning experience...we will return...in fact I will be going there for drinks and snacks with a friend in 2 weeks time, so I will do an update As for the setting, its great; a large upstairs room, noisy, bustling...great fun place A totally different experience to the 2 Portuguese restaurants that used to be in Knightsbridge / Beauchamp Place. Very good place for grilled Portuguese chicken. The restaurant is simple but nice and service is friendly. Prices are good. I shared some Iberico Pork Croquettes and Bacalhau Fritters which were both good. However, as it should be, the best thing was the Piri-Piri chicken. The seasoning was really good and the cooking was spot one, with the meat remaining perfectly juicy. The African Rice was also really good, not cooked at my like in terms of texture but seasoned really well with many pieces of Chorizo. I had two Vinho Verde which were just ok, and also the Porto at the end good but not exceptional. Their Pastel de Nata are also very good and great for finishing the meal. read more

This could be a one star review were it not for the capable hands of the manager. Don't get me wrong - the food, setting, were great. But, the service was a comedy of errors. From getting our original drink order wrong, to having us wait 45 minutes before a second drink order arrived (no food still). We eventually called the manager over as we had not seen our waitress in over an hour. He came back two minutes later and acknowledged that the waitress had not put our order in, did not write it down, and we would have to order it all over again. We were ready to walk out when the manager pleaded with us to give him the chance to make it right. Being so late at this point we had little chance. To his word, our (second) order came out quickly. The food was really excellent. Fantastic actually, the Piri Piri Chicken was absolutely delicious. Nothing disappointed. The manager took care of our meal and drinks and was very apologetic. This made all the difference. He took ownership, didn't make excuses, and did what was right. The point is - staffing is a challenge, particularly today. But, the manager did not want to use that as an excuse. He made it right. A lost art in today's world. read more

Their casa es NO mi casa. While the chicken at Casa do Frango is exceptional, and the batatas fritas are somewhat delightful, the appalling service renders the overall experience horrid. The server was constantly trying to up-sell us on menu items, even returning to our table multiple times WHILE we were eating to ask if we needed more. At one point I thought he may actually just starting throwing the cauliflower side dish at our table hoping we'd catch it and then pay. It's also near impossible to get the staffs attention at any point. And as soon as you actually have ordered, it seems as though they're trying to get you out. I felt like a pigeon in a train; simply not supposed to be there. What a shame. My wife, Steven, and I will not be returning. Went here for dinner with a friend and loved it! We got a number of the sharing plates and sides to share; it was great getting to try such a variety of dishes because everything was delicious! Our waitress was super helpful with figuring out how much food to order between the two of us and we ended up with the perfect amount, and with a great mix of meat/seafood/veggies. We didn't actually try the piri-piri chicken so I would definitely come back to try that!
