I recently moved into my new home built by Casa Fresca on July 5th - 2025, and I'm extremely disappointed with the experience. Within one week of moving in, the AC unit completely stopped working and because it happened on a Saturday, the company recommended by Casa Fresca didn't respond. I had to pay out of pocket to call a 24-hour emergency company to fix it. During my walkthrough, I already noticed visible scratches on windows and other surfaces some of which were caused by the cleaning company used by the builder. Even now, weeks later, I keep finding paint and construction residue on the floors and carpets. The walls have poor finishing, and if you simply brush against them, the paint peels off easily. The LVP flooring is also extremely fragile any small object will leave scratches. The worst part? When I brought up these issues, the person from Casa Fresca told me they were "just aesthetic problems." The rep who did my walkthrough has completely vanished and stopped responding. For the price and expectations that come with buying a new home, this experience has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I do not recommend Casa Fresca unless you're prepared to deal with poor quality, lack of support, and being ignored after closing.

Dishwasher - top spinner bar collapsed/fell off during a wash cycle.

I expected that when buying a brand new home that there would not be any costs to replace appliances, paint walls, fix irrigation system, etc. for at least 5 years. Well, I've had my new home for about a year and a half and am so disappointed at the quality of the home and appliances. The irrigation system has sprung two leaks in the past couple of months, the dishwasher literally fell apart during a wash cycle (not surprising because the dishwasher is entirely plastic on the inside), the dryer tumbler bar fell off during a dry cycle, the microwave display went out, the paint literally washes off the walls if you even try to very gently damp wipe because they only put one very light coat on all the walls - basically a primer coat - with flat paint (in the entire house), so you can't even wipe the walls in the kitchen without the drywall being exposed. The bathroom ceiling paint is cracking, also due to using only one coat of FLAT paint. I mean, seriously, who uses flat paint in kitchens and bathrooms??? If you buy Casa Fresca, plan on painting your entire kitchen and bathrooms before you move in! And plan on purchasing new appliances within 2 years. Oh, and the house doesn't even have any gutters. I never even thought to look for gutters when I toured the house. It was only after the first rain that I noticed, which was just a few days after moving in. The rain pours down all sides of the house and floods the ground around the foundation, with SAND coming up to the top surface of the ground. And you get a nice waterfall shower if you try to leave your front porch to get to the driveway when it's raining. The "quartz" countertops are the thickness of a backsplash, at less than 1 inch thick! Also, while changing out the very low end kitchen faucet, I saw that they didn't even put any caulking around the original faucet and the water had been seeping through and the underside of the stone slab was moist and stained from the moisture, which is also when I noticed the underside of the stone counters aren't even sealed, and the stone slab looks more like concrete than stone. The flooring is probably going to start coming up soon, I keep hearing popping sounds in some areas when I walk on it. "Entry-level" home (at $500K) should not mean so cheap that an entire interior remodel and new appliances will likely be needed in less than 3 years. I feel like I'm living in a 15 yr old home at this point, just waiting for what will fail next. Geeeez.

And I agree with the anger problem. Almost everything was an argument. By the end, I could not even be in his presence and let my husband handle it. Our latest fun is that all our first floor tile has buckled and now we have to replace it - ALL OF IT due to poor installation. The ONLY aspects of our build that we are happy with are elements that we chose ourselves and found the sub-contractors OURSELVES!

I definitely do not recommend this builder, at all. In fact, if this was the LAST builder left on…read moreEarth, I would figure out how to build a house myself before using this group again. If you do use them, make sure you have a great lawyer, because you're going to need one. For starters, our home was completed a year later than we were promised. Yes, a YEAR. It was really awesome being strung along and my husband being told "30 more days" month after month and paying month-to-month rent at an apartment, which was way more expensive, but we didn't want to sign another lease because we kept being told completion dates. Andrew who works there has a serious anger management issue. More on that in a minute. We LOVE the design of our home (obviously, or we wouldn't have built it). What we don't love, are the numerous problems we have had with our brand new home. Our home is 1.5 years old and has had more problems then I've ever experienced. Bad plumbing (leaking into our kitchen), bad electrical wiring (we've got to know our fuse box very well), our driveway is filled with cracks, our address numbers have fallen off of our house, our front porch is already cracking, our video surveillance was wired incorrectly and didn't function, our door leaks so much oil that it has stained our grout...we HAVE a home warranty, but getting anyone there to even answer the phone is a difficult task. Our roof leaked and has since caused hazardous black mold growth that the roofing company won't touch until WE have removed. Our neighbors have had many of the same issues as us. When you finally get ahold of someone, which is usually having to show up there, it's horrible service. Andrew has a horrible attitude and is difficult to work with. Things do eventually get fixed, but usually takes forever. OR, they will send someone to fix something and not tell you when the person is coming and it will be a day/time you aren't home...further prolonging having your things fixed. Jean, the assistant, also needs a serious attitude adjustment as well...I've never experienced such a poorly ran business in my life. Even worse, we have to do all the leg work of calling vendors to get things repaired who then give us a run around, citing how horrible Castillo Housing was to work with and how they actually feel bad for people who chose this company as their homebuilder. I'm a pretty rational, kind, understanding person...but these people have made me lose every ounce of patience I have...and the same will happen to you, too. Again, I love the design of my home, but I will never use this builder again and can only imagine what issues are to come.
