As I said in my previous review, this has always been one of my go to's for Mexican restaurants and been eating here since I was 18 (I'm 50 now). With that being said, we've been here a couple time in the last couple months. The first time, it took the waiter forever to take our drink orders, when we ordered our drinks, he wanted our food orders at the same time. Not once did he come back by to see if we needed anything. Alas, he did not get a tip and I mentioned the poor service to the cashier. The second time was just last weekend, it wasn't busy. Again, we were seated in the area of the waiter I mentioned above. We got our drinks in a timely manner. They are usually pretty quick getting your meal to you, it took forever this time. When we received our dishes, the food wasn't hot. He again never checked on us and it almost took an act of God to get the check, as we waited and waited, no one came by to clear our dishes and again throughout the meal he never checked to see if we needed anything. I complained again to the cashier about the service and tepid food. I mentioned to her that maybe he needed to be a bus boy, as he clearly wasn't interested in being a good waiter. Thing is, even when they give you bad service and tepid food, they expect a tip. Again, I didn't leave a tip. I'm sure Mr. Gamino is rolling around in his grave with how the service has gone down hill. I know if he were still around, he wouldn't stand for this. We will return but, I will ask to be seated at the other side of the restaurant and not in his area if I see him working. read more

So love this place you must try the meat ball soup . It's the boom I have not trued any of the seafood dish do to that fact I have bad reaction to sea food. I love their food, been going since I was a kid. The only complaint I have is in their service! Like, it seems that they give good service to non- latinos, but they totally ignore their own people sometimes. One time, I just ordered an horchata and a bowl of albondiga soup which is the BEST I have ever had (beats the hell out of my mom's). Anyways, the guy NEVER brings out my drink. He didn't even bother to ask if I wanted more water and we ignored my husband (bf at the time) and I and we had the crappiest service. At the end I asked him for the check and then he told me, "Oh, you want me to bring your drink?" I was like WTF? Are you serious? The many years I know this guy's been working at this place, he should certainly know you get your drinks at the beginning. I'm a sucker for their food and cocktails though. Let me start my review by stating that I have been coming here for yearssssss! At least 3-4 times a month. The service is excellent always no matter whom I get. I always like going to this establishment because everything seems to be just right; proper service and good food. Casa Gamino is often a go-to place for me if I'm in the mood for good Mexican food. I've tried their caldos-I think most of them. I particularly like 7 Mares but have (sometimes) found the octopus a little too chewy on certain occasion. Other than that, the soup is good and they give you enough onion and lemon wedges to add flavor to it. I've also had their burritos, tacos, and dinner plates. Although I'm not too particular with the beans. The margaritas are always good, and it seems like going for a second (or third) round makes the drink more enjoyable. The decor is good, it's not too fancy and not too "blah." I guess it's okay for a not-so-fancy restaurant. One thing I have to mention is that on certain nights, there's a young lady who sings. She's almost like a one-woman mariachi with a guitar. And she sings contemporary Hispanic-rock music. I'm not Hispanic but I appreciate good music when I hear it. Casa Gamino is a good place to bring family and friends. The wait staff recommends what food to order if you're unsure and the food always come out without sacrificing a long wait. I'm happy with this establishment and would recommend others to come and try it. read more

This is my grandma's favorite Mexican restaurant. She used to come here with her late husband, my grandpa, many years ago. She hasn't been for years. So, I flew out to California to surprise my grandma for her 90th birthday in February. I knew Casa Gamino would be the perfect spot since she always talked about this restaurant and said that she would one day take me here when I lived in California. My aunt called the restaurant to make a reservation earlier in the week. They told her that they usually don't take reservations for a group of 4 but would do it since 90 is a big milestone. The people who work here are awesome! They take care of you, and the food is delicious! Thank you, guys! You're awesome! read more

Wow two times in a row. What great food and large portions. Our party of 10 was completely happy. 4 took home leftovers. The food orders came slow that was the biggest draw back. But when they brought our order it was hot, fresh and so good. The table Salas and chips were very good. The Salas was very flavorful but not overly spicy. Old school place with a pretty cool vibe. The prices are decent and the food is non-threatening. Not great, but okay. The chips were hot and the salsa is very good!! Dinner plates come with soup or salad. The "salad" is lettuce with dressing on it - period; but if you add a little salsa, it was pretty tasty. The Albondigas soup was good enough - the BF likes it. We both ordered the green chili verde, a nice portion for sure. I prefer a little more bite to my green chili, but it was tasty. The pork chucks were big enough. No outstanding flavors, nothing challenging.. So in summary - it was an ok meal. About as exciting as the waiter (and he was a total BORE!). Two peeps, two entrees and a soda for around $22 bucks. Memories of childhood every time I come here. I love the waiters who always remember I want an extra shot of tequila with my margarita. I tend to order the carnitas because it's the most delicious and unhealthy thing I can find on the menu. But I've also ordered the grilled chicken breasts when I thought I should eat healthy and was surprised at how delicious they are. The Nachos are unlike any that you find elsewhere. Well we were seated promptly and our waitress was very attentive, food was good too I ordered a #15 that had an enchilada, beef taco, and shredded beef tostada. Besides the massive amounts of cheese I was very happy. I also ordered a side of rice and beans because I need them when having Mexican food. I was satisfied for the most part UNTIL my S/O and I decided to order the deep fried ice cream, this is why I'm only giving them three stars, it was unbelievably terrible. The deep fry was stale and hard to chew and just texturally not appetizing. It basically ruined everything to be completely honest.
