Food was pretty good. Just be sure that if you have a reservation for a large party that it's not raining as their outside area is covered, but not covered very well. So, if it's 20+ people, chances are they planned to have you outside, and if it rained, that idea is out the question. That's what happened for my rehearsal dinner. Truly one of the worst places I have ventured into... unfortunately the lowest I can give is one star. We were in town and had the bad luck of choosing this location to try. I will harp about the service because it was bad from start to finish. We came in and were seated...10 mins later no one had come by, and that's because they literally had waiters walking right by our table. I spoke to a waitress and asked who was assigned to our table, and she said the waitress might be outside and she'll go look. But she was at least nice enough to take our drinks. 10 mins later, still no waitress. I go and talk to the manager and he says someone should be assigned to us ...and just looked around the place. No apologies to us...just indifference. The waitress who took our drink order took the initiative to serve us ..kudos to her. She might be the only shining star there. Our food finally arrived about 20 mins later. They offer breakfast all day...my daughter ordered pancakes, rock hard. They tasted like they were made in the morning and maybe microwaved. I ordered a plate with enchiladas and a crispy taco...Yea, maybe crispy one side taco. Somehow one side got stuck to the plate...if you look at the pic, one side was wet and mushy, and the other side was the crispy part. So the food was no saving grace here Back to the service...after being horribly attended, the manager came and chatted up the table next to us for about 10 mins. Maybe he should've been supervising the tables instead, making sure everyone got served fairly. The waitress who was assigned our area, didn't have the spine to show her face and at least apologize. And the cherry on top...as a family of 6, we were charged 18% gratuity as a party...for the worst service possible, ha! Food and service was average nothing really stood out the food bland and the service was good but overall it not as good as a few years ago.

When servers or bartenders touch the top of a straw or lip of a glass, it is really gross. Please don't do that. You can put a straw in a drink without touching the part that my lips would touch. You can put a drink down or pick it up from the server station without touching the top of the glass as well. Teach your people better serving manners. read more

Underwhelming. To say the least and put it as nicely as possible. My son goes to martial arts a couple doors down and we had been wanting to try this place. I had a mixed plate, my wife had fish and my son tacos. The food itself was mediocre. We had the chips and salsa. I asked if we could try their try their queso because if my son liked it, we would order one. They brought a small bowl. They then wanted to charge us $9 when I had just asked to try it. Mind you, he liked it and we would have ordered a small bowl but the lack of communication was annoying. My son's actual dish was fine except he's a kid and when we ordered his plate, they brought the adult plate. They then proceeded to try to charge us for the adult plate. My wife's plate was as ordered but she said it was pretty boring/flavorless. My dish was around a $14 or $15 dollar dish.I expected I would end up taking some home. I was sorely disappointed. I have never been served so little at a Mexican or Tex-Mex place. The enchilada and tamale have to be the smallest anyone has ever made, anywhere, ever. Flavor was okay. But they were just so disappointing. Lastly, service was just god awful slow. We were the first people out on the patio. It filled up while we were there. We were the 3rd to receive our food. How? Why? And we waited a while for it. I had to ask for a refill on my tea. Little things. It all added up. So not the best experience. There are so many great Tex-Mex and/or Mexican places around, it makes the expectations high. This just isn't one of them. read more

After having her the first time she neglected to check on us when our meal came out and waited at least 10 mins before she came to check. After a long day of travel, having left Hawai'i on a red eye flight the night before, my wife and I were getting a bit famished after we checked into our short term rental apartment early on a Thursday night. We decided to check out Casa Garcia's after reading some of the Yelp reviews, cognizant of less than glowing comments about the quality of service. It was about 6:30 PM when we went for dinner and the place seemed like it was getting close to full capacity, especially indoors as the outside temperatures were still a bit unbearable, especially for these two Hawai'i transplants. Having lived in Hawai'i for over 8+ years, we've always yearned for good Mexican food (or even Tex Mex cuisine) as the options on the islands were quite lacking. We were seated immediately and served cold water as well as chips and salsa. The chips were fresh, airy and crispy while the salsa had a slight kick to it. Our server, Victor, was attentive and took our orders, after answering a couple of our questions. My wife tried their Savory Pork Pastor Plate (tacos al pastor) and I tried their Carne Asada plate. Once our dishes were delivered, Victor asked if I wanted freshly made tortillas...heck yeah! My wife liked her tacos and was intrigued by some of the flavors, tasting hints of cinnamon or something similar. When we asked Victor what was in the marinade, he tried to "fake the funk" but it was obvious he really didn't know. My dish was decent, although I've definitely tried carne asada with better, bolder flavors than this. The cuts of meat were good...if only the flavors matched it. All in all, not a bad experience. Service was better than I expected and the food flavors and quality were good...although I would hesitate to call this place my "go to" place for Tex Mex or Mexican cuisine in the area. I my wife and her girl friends ate their at Casa Garcia on January 27. We went around 12:30 pm, and had to wait about 30 minutes, not bad because in the past we have waited longer. We had a very nice waitress who brought us our drinks right away and chips. After you place your order, it really does not take very long to receive your meal. Our food was delicious and as we ordered it. The theme inside the restaurant is Mexican and very beautifully decorated. They do have a very nice bar to sit at if you like, we chose a table. Each time I have dined here the staff has been quick to greet me and even when busy are attentive and provide quick service. The food is consistent and the type of Mexican cuisine I like. It is also a place you can meet and be able to have a conversation without shouting over loud music. It is family friendly and has a nice selection of entrees. The hubs was thirsty so we stopped for a drink. He ordered the michelada with Modelo. I ordered a Bloody Mary. I liked that they asked if I wanted it regular or spicy. I opted for middle of the road;) It was so good I guzzled it down. I guess I was thirsty too! & because we're responsible drinkers we ordered a snack. We ordered from their taco menu. I got a barbacoa taco and the hubs got a beef fajita taco. The serving was generous at $2.50. Both tacos were tasty. The negative was that we sat there for quite a while and noticed that people that came in after us got chips and salsa way before us. We also had to flag down someone for a menu. The food and drinks were good so I'm giving it 3 stars for now. I'll stop by again with hopes that the service can improve and make it a 4:) read more

I absolutely hate writing bad reviews but I need to this time...the level of service, value, and quality on our order last night was just horrible. We ordered 2 pounds of fajita meat to go and was told it came wit came with tortillas and the normal sides. When we arrive the manager Max told us it does not come with sides and we would have to buy all of that separate. So literally for $50 we just got 2 pounds of meat and that's it. As you can see by the pictures, it barely even seemed like 2 pounds of meat. In addition the attitude of the manager Max was appalling. His customer service our service skills are nothing I would want in one of my employees. When we finally get home, the meat was fatty iand really not that good. I used to love this place but the last couple years at has really gone downhill.There are too many good Mexican food options around. I would avoid this place. read more

Man, this used to be my spot. USED TO. It was as authentic as you can get. But on a recent trip with my kids the wait was about an hour to get our food and the tortillas, which used to be big pillowy blankets for flour goodness, were reduced to what looked like you would buy prepackaged at Target. It seems as the anglo crowd has grown the authenticity and heart of what made this place so great has gone with them. I went here tonight with my fiancé and did not have super high hopes but expected something better than what we got. I got the shrimp Diablo and it was hot but it did not have a lot of flavor. The charro beans, which is one of the things that I measure a Mexican food restaurant by, were also bland. They charge extra for these if you substitute them and they are totally not worth it even if it is just $.99. The rice also had no flavor and was not true Mexican rice, it was just rice. The Mexican Martini I had was not good either, it tasted like store-bought margarita mix. Our server was very friendly and nice and the staff was taking every precaution for the pandemic which I appreciated, but we will not be back here to eat as there is much better Mexican food and margaritas to be had elsewhere.
