Can I first start by saying that this is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. We usually go sit at the bar and eat and the food is just amazing. BUT ....... we will NOT be eating there anymore because the prices have gone too high and it's a shame because it's one of our top places we love to eat at. I feel like they should've raised it only a dollar or two but some of the dishes that we eat have gone UP 5-6 dollars. I'm going to miss this place very much! I just can't afford it anymore. Excellent Italian done right. Double cut pork chop with fried potatoes shishito peppers and onions is my go to entrée. The attention to detail and service is outstanding for this small gem of a restaurant. Local favorite and worth the trip for the traveling foodie. Squid ink linguini with shrimp, scallops, shiitake mushrooms was perfect in a delicious vodka sauce. Everything on point. Very good food and awesome service. Current specials like the bronzino is very good, as well as the pappadella bolognese that is loaded with generous portions of ground meat, sausage, and chicken. The pasta with spicy vodka sauce and seafood was very tasty. The restaurant itself is an intimate setting with adorable Christmas decorations throughout the place and festive Christmas music. What I like about this place is that it is byob but if you don't bring your own, you can still order drinks from your server and he'll walk over to the bar side and bring your drinks to you. Let me start by saying that if I could give Casa Giuseppe more than a 5-star rating, I would! It all started out on a random Thursday night months ago. My boyfriend and I were out late running errands and I suggested we go eat somewhere near where we live. It was late, pushing 9pm so options were limited but we somehow stumbled across Casa Giuseppe. We ordered chicken Marsala and chicken parmigiana and had one of their specials, delicious chicken wing scarpiello (please excuse my spelling!). We were actually speechless at how amazing and fresh everything was- not to mention, incredibly affordable. The portions were huge! The service was unforgettable and we felt like we had been regulars of the restaurant. Fast forward 6 months, and Casa Giuseppe has become a staple in our lives. We have brought our friends and family and they are just as obsessed. We have always had consistent, fresh and delicious meals. I don't think I have one complaint! It's all packed so definitely make a reservation, although the owner is so kind and will help to squeeze you in. I can't say enough great things about their staff. Hard to believe it's been a good decade since I was last here but I'm happy we decided to give them a try again. Who doesn't love a gimmick that's actually useful? Like a menu that lights up when you open them?! (And yes, like a kid that keeps trying to figure out that exact moment the refrigerator light goes on/off - I too was fooling around with the menu way too long.) The food was much better than I remember from all those years ago... from the Chicken Milanese (great breading/crust, superb salad on top) to the Branzino special (the Mrs. has been obsessed lately with this fish) to the pasta being served al dente... we were impressed. (Only gripe - the sausage they used in one entrée was pretty blah, to be honest.) Still BYOB but now they're connected/in cahoots with Bar 503 (think of it as The Regal Beagle for the AARP set) next store so you can order a drink through them. Took my girlfriend on a special date for her birthday, wanting to treat her to a small New Jersey Italian experience (she's from Atlanta). While the dining room is smaller than you'd expect and the front of the restaurant is unsuspecting, it makes sense why it's packed. The food is delicious, the waiters are attentive and kind, and everything was fast, fresh, hot and did I mention delicious? So this place is a complete hidden jewel. We came here at the suggestion of a friend, who we will now consider a better friend. The place is small and quaint; frankly the decor is simple. Of note the menus are back lit so you might not need to bring your reading glasses for the over 40 crowd. We started with a classic Ceasar salad. It was tart and savory and delicious. We were two couples so we ordered two appetizers, the crab cakes which was in a light sause with capers outstanding and the mozzarella crisp, warm, salty and simply amazing. Wow! Best service, food, and Joe and Brian took care of our table. We had a fantastic experience. The sauce was so phenomenal and calamari and burrata incredible. We live over an hour away and in the area visiting friends but we will return to eat here again. Oh and the menus that light up when you open them are the coolest touch. Very easy to read and such a great attention to detail (like everything else). The best Italian food in Lyndhurst! The clams oreganata are hands down the best in the area, even when you get them for take out and that isn't a great food to re-heat! They have incredible desserts, but what I really want to tell you about is Fettuccine Christina...the best pasta dish ever. Shrimp, Asparagus, other vegs, in a delicious pink sauce. It is AMAZING! Best thing about this place hands down is the service! Other than being very intimate which I love and the fact that it's adjacent to a full bar, the waiters make this place. Not speaking only for our waiter but all the other were very attentive and polite. They made sure to start with the daily specials and make recommendations. The food was very good although it could have used some more salt, but that's just my preference. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal and everyone else seemed to as well. Well I can say is OMG, took my dad here for the first time and the food was absolutely amazing! The place was full and every table had people at it but we were 6 feet apart considering this was COVID time, I had the angel hair pasta with crab meat on top which was absolutely to die for, everything was just about perfect I give it four stars because they only had one waiter on with 10 tables filled, had to wait for the check and for it to be returned, that was the only downfall and that is why I gave it four stars. read more

Let me just say that our waitress was so wonderful and fun. She had such a great personality and sense of humor that it made the experience that so much better. I don't remember her name but she's an Italian Lodi woman. Anyway... It's BYOB so bring your own. The crab cake was one of the best parts of the meal. It was delicious. It had a great amount of fresh crab meat. The clams oreganto were but small. The calamari was good and it was a good sized serving. For dinner I had the black squid ink pasta in pink sauce with shrimp and scallops. It was very delicious. The pink sauce is really good. The duck with cinnamon rice was very good too. The duck was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. For dessert I had the toasted almond tartufo which was really good but small. We had a reservation for Easter dinner. We were seated immediately, handed light-up menus that had just been wiped down with antibacterial wipes. The hostess was friendly & welcoming. A waiter came to open our wine & give us water & told us several specials. Our appetizers came hot & enough to share. Warm crusty bread with olive oil came as well. One of my favorite Italian restaurants and its so close to home. I was given a gift card to Casa Giuseppe's from a coworker and didn't use it for a couple months. Dumb move... When I finally got a chance to get there, I was pleasantly surprised at how nicely decorated the place was. Then we ordered our meals, Zuppa Di Vogole, crab cakes, Shrimp Tuscany, Zuppa Di Pesce... Wow, everything was delicious. The best Zuppa Di Clams since back in the day at Just Sonny's for the Jersey City people who remember. Chef Joe Forte has been here for over 30 years and prior to that he had worked at the Palisadium and the Sea Shack along with waiter Dino's Klonaris. Joe graduated from Johnson and Wales. This is one of the best spots in Lyndhurst for Italian food with a French flair. This is BYOB and the room fits about 30-40 people, mostly throughout the week the locals come but they can accommodate up to 25 people for a party. You have to see the specials when you come here, the best appetizers for me was the fried artichokes and the antipasto. read more

I don't eat in the restaurant, I eat at the lovely bar/pub next door. There is a door connecting the two and they share services, so if you eat in the BYOB restaurant you can order a cocktail from the bar and if you like to sit at the bar you can order food from the restaurant. This is an area with a lot of Italian restaurants, by far, Casa Giuseppe has the best Italian food around. A very small dining room so I would suggest reservations, especially on weekends. read more

We came here to celebrate my friend's birthday. I had the squid ink pasta with seafood special and it was incredible. Loved the ambiance. Service was great. The only negative was a couple who was berating us and talking to other tables about us being loud. We had a party of 10 , but we weren't being unruly or anything.
