Service was excellent. The place itself is adorable and probably wonderful in the summer and spring with outside seating. The overall was good but missed the mark with a few things like the crab cakes were a bit fishy. Would give it a second try :) It's a byob.

I knew I would leave a review as soon as I stepped in. The people here were incredibly accommodating to my partner and I. We were riding our bikes in town and were hungry. Seeing that they had outdoor seating in the back of the restaurant we asked if there was somewhere we could place our bikes while we ate. We didn't have any bike locks for outside so they gracious offered a special spot of us to safely park them. The food and ambiance was excellent and the people so kind. Definitely recommend.

We've been here a few times now and the consistency of the food is spot on. So delicious. We have a few favorite dishes we come for and they always have amazing (different) specials which makes it difficult in deciding what to get. The good news is that it's all delicious. You won't be disappointed. The service is great. John is amazing and the staff is very friendly. The outdoor patio is very nice and the heaters makes it even better to allow you to continue enjoying outdoor eating as the weather gets a little cooler.

Excellent food, great service, perfect ambiance. Loved it and will definitely go back. This picture of the lasagna doesn't do it justice. It was large and the taste was perfect.

I keep wanting to try places in town, so this was on my list. Driving by, you would never know this place existed. The storefront is very small. When you walk in, it's bigger than I had expected. For apps, we got the grilled calamari (amazing) in this red sauce, and my husband got the long hots. Service was top notch- always checking in on us. For dinner I got the steak which was good, but I regret not getting seafood because my husband got the black ink seafood dish and it looked like perfection. They supposedly have a outdoor area in the back, but we did not go there because it was too cold. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for good Italian.

We were in the mood for Italian food after a long day of baseball and after looking on my handy dandy Yelp app, we landed here. We opted to sit outdoors being that it was a nice night and the outdoor patio is so nice. Everything is nice and spread out and very comfortable. Service was bar none. Everyone was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. You felt right at home the entire time. It was a "specials" kind of night for us. For appetizers, we got the chicken meatballs in a pink sauce and the grilled Italian long hots, sausage and potatoes which were out of this world. For dinner, I also went with the special. I had the homemade fettuccine with grilled salmon, portobello mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, fresh mozz in a pink cream sauce. Completely phenomenal. My wife had the Ziti with broccoli rabe and Sausage. I was too full to even try it. My son had the Ziti with marinara which the gentleman helping us boasted that they have the best marinara in the area. For dessert, I got the Lemoncello cake which was completely on point, my wife got the chocolate mousse cake and our son had the chocolate Gelato. If you're in the area and in the mood for Italian food, this is a must hit.

Only eaten here one other time. Neighborhood eats!! Restaurant is cozy and has approximately 12/13 tables. They also have backyard seating in the warmer weather which Is supposed to be very nice. We ordered the sausage stuffed long hots over greens. What an amazing flavor they had. They alone get 5 stars. Pasta Fagioli soup was delicious. Spaghetti with manila clams in white wine sauce. Fantastic!! Had about a dozen or so clams!! Pork chop with potatoes, peppers and onions. Cooked perfectly. Juicy inside and flavorful. Spaghetti with Marinara sauce was also good ( good size for kids) Service was excellent!! Our waiter was great!! It's a BYOB TOO!! Had a excellent dinner!!

The restaurant was packed when we arrived, with both indoor and outdoor dining, but they were expecting us for our reservation and seated us right away. The front-of-house staff was warm, friendly and even remembered my husband from when he called to make the reservation. The food was the standout. I ordered the short rib, which arrived with quite the presentation, a huge bone topped with incredibly tender, shaved short rib and mixed vegetables. It was delicious and the portion was enormous. I shared some with my husband at dinner, took the rest home, and we still managed to turn the leftovers into an omelet a couple of days later! My husband ordered the double-thick pork chop and loved it. We also shared the fried shrimp and calamari appetizer, and both the marinara and aioli were excellent. One small area for improvement would be helping the younger waitstaff become a little more comfortable guiding guests through the menu. When we asked for recommendations and what dishes the restaurant was especially known for, it took a little prompting before we got to Parmigiano. Our server was perfectly nice. It just would have elevated the experience to have someone confidently say, "This is what we do exceptionally well, and here's what I recommend." Overall, though, we had exactly the kind of evening we needed. We brought a bottle of wine, relaxed, talked, enjoyed the atmosphere and genuinely felt like we had gotten away for a while. Our bill came in at the $100 range, and we left completely satisfied. Great food, generous portions, a welcoming atmosphere and excellent value. We'll absolutely return.

Decor offers a taste of Italy and adds to the charm. Started with a few apps and a chicken parm for the table to share. The Carciofi alla Giudia, the classic Jewish-Roman deep fried artichokes were beautifully presented. A good bit firmer than you'd find in Rome but were still well enjoyed and recommended. Tonno salad with fresh seared tuna was plentiful and packed with flavor. Speaking of flavor the porchetta sandwich was rich and delicious. Really this is closer to a bbq pork than authentic porchetta but still recommended. The star of the show is the chicken parm and eggplant parm. The eggplant was delicate, thinly sliced melt in your mouth. Luckily you get a huge plate. Chicken parm is also excellent and HUGE. While there is $10 plate fee if sharing a main they are fine if you order several items and share all. Very generous with their shaved Parmesan if requested. Prices on the higher side but not all that bad considering the quantity. This feels more like the type of place you come to with a large group than as a couple. Unless of course you are very hungry. Service is excellent.

There's just something about them that you can't recreate. Yesterday, my buddies and I were supposed to hit The Belmont Tavern, but they were closed for the week. Rather than scrap the plan, we pivoted to Matthew's Italian Restaurant at the suggestion of one of the guys in the crew. What a great find. We were pleasantly surprised that an old school spot like this had somehow escaped us all these years. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for, the staff was awesome, and most importantly, the food delivered. We came out swinging with Clams Oreganata, Meatballs, Stuffed Mushrooms, Mozzarella Carrozza, and two different types of Ravioli. Needless to say, the table filled up pretty quickly. For dinner, most of the crew went with either the Veal Parm or Chicken Parm. A nice touch is that they'll do the parm with vodka sauce if you want to switch things up. I went with the steak special and had absolutely no regrets. Dessert was on point too, but I'll leave a little something to your imagination. Great food, great service, great old school atmosphere, and exactly the kind of Italian restaurant I'm always looking to discover. Matthew's is officially on our list now. We'll definitely be back soon.

To start: there's a small parking lot in the back but otherwise appears to be street parking. Both of our cars found spots in the lot since we got there a touch before 5pm. When we got in there, there was only 1 table of two people occupied but we were asked if we had a reservation which we didn't have. Admittedly, it was a bit of a last minute decision to go out so it completely slipped my mind to look to see if I would be able to reserve something but it was before 5pm so I'm surprised we were met with such resistance. Luckily, they were able to take us with warning we would need to be out by 6:45. For reference we left at 6 since we only got entrees. The place itself is somewhat small and has a little covered patio which saw had some tables. It's no frills and the menu wasn't all that extensive. I swear there is more of a menu on their Slice app for takeout ordering. Bread was placed on the table as well as a water pitcher. To be honest, I didn't think the bread had much flavor and my husband and parents agreed. We were pretty hungry so we did finish it (even when bread isn't great, it's still good in my book) but we weren't offered any more than the first basket. All of our entrees came with salad which were typical pizzeria salads-not bad, not amazing. My mom and I both ordered the Chicken Avellino (chicken breast sautéed with chopped red onion, red peppers, sliced hot cherry peppers, shitake mushrooms in a white wine sauce with a touch of plum tomatoes) which came with roasted potatoes. I'm not the biggest fan of spicy but I thought I could just take off the sliced hot cherry peppers and be okay. Wow was I wrong because the entire dish had a kick to it. Even my mom who gravitates towards spicy food admitted it was hot. That said, the quality of the chicken was phenomenal. It was thin sliced and very good. My husband very much enjoyed his Scaloppini Marsala and my dad liked the Pollo Francese but did wish the sauce was a touch thicker. I will say I think the quality of the food served is very good but the portions are not plentiful. I'm guilty of always taking home and making another meal or two out of what I get out somewhere but all 4 of us cleared our plates. At a $30 price point I just wish there were larger portions.
