Their salsa was very good. Fresh, sweet, with a hint of spice. We ordered the white queso. It was good. Standard velveeta queso blanco. My wife and I ordered the street tacos. We got shrimp, pastor, and birria. I've been to Mexico and lived in Guatemala so I know good street tacos. These were seriously the best street tacos I have ever had in my life. Especially the pastor. I wish I could give them 10 stars! This place is down the street from my house. This could be dangerous. The flavor was perfect and the best part was that they were perfectly moist. Most street tacos are good but the meat is usually dry but not these. Really enjoyed my molcajete. The sauce was fantastic and all the meat was tender and juicy. Really enjoyed the cactus which I usually hate. It was pricey but I would get it again. Beans were just okay, nothing special. Salsa was good but again, not anything I'd write home about. I went at a weird time but service was good. This was the worst Mexican food I've ever ate and I love Mexican food. My fajitas did not come sizzling nor steaming and were barely warm The guacamole was old and brown. My daughter's enchilada was cold even though the plate was hot. She ordered a chalupa and received a tostada and the servers response was they are the same thing. They even had tostada and chalupa on the menu. When asked how everything was, my daughter said she didn't like it which was obvious from the plate still being full. No apology. No nothing. This place was GREAT! We went expecting it to be fine/good. My husband got a chicken, steak and shrimp dish with cheese sauce and loved it. I got the carne asada street tacos with a side of avocado and they were so good! The chips and salsa were mid at best so I was a little worried but it turned out great! Have eaten here three times now and each time I impressed with how well staffed they are. They are friendly and accommodating, with a large amount of seating available. I am very appreciative of their willingness to make food that's even "off menu". The selection of food is huge - with some unique items I've never seen at any other restaurant. I am SO glad this place opened up in the old Los Dos Amigos building on Alameda. I hope the casa is here for a while. The carnitas burrito i got is my favorite burrito ever. It was chile verde, I think. Sooo good. I got a chicken burrito for lunch one day that wasn't nearly as flavorful, but would be good if you didn't like a lot of spice and preferred mild flavors. My husband has gotten some delicious dishes and my daughter enjoyed her food. Service is friendly and fast. So happy to have this place on the East side. read more

Did not find the beef enchiladas up to standards. Browned ground beef in rolled up flour tortillas with a little white cheese sauce drizzled over it. No seasonings, cheese, sour cream or vegetables. Just browned hamburger meat in barely warm tortillas. Man who seated us did not smile even once. Just led us silently to a table with what looked like a scowl and then walked away. I'm giving it 3 stars because the food is good. BUT, watch your ticket. Twice now, when it's time to checkout, the price of our meals didn't match the menu. The first time it came out to about a $12 difference, but i didnt say anything. It happened again today though. I said something to them about it this time and they did change it to the correct amount that matched the menu price, but i don't know if my family will be coming back. It feels very sketchy and I don't like to have to check everything to make sure a restaurant isn't padding my bill for a few extra bucks. read more

I went here with a total open mind. There are things I really love about this place. Prices on lunch entrees are good and the drinks are really really good. The service was great. The atmosphere is great. I sat in a booth at the bar and the booths are pretty and a lot of thought went into the atmosphere. The only thing I didn't like about the food was corn in the rice. I don't like corn, and I don't think it's necessary. Enough carbs there already. The only thing I can't get past is the fact that that so many people have complained on the Internet about the chips and salsa. This is your first impression here, and I agree that it's not good. The owner needs to change this for a successful restaurant. Still. The food and drinks are good, so I would make some changes to achieve greatness. Listen to your public! read more

Usually you have to go to 29th Street in south OKC to get food as good as as this but WOW no need to drive all the way up to the city any longer. Casa Herrera Bar & Grill is the spot! This Mexican food was horrible. The worst I've ever had and I will be surprised if it stays open long-term. The chips seemed out of a bag from 7-11 and the salsa out of a can. The flour tortillas were cold and hard. If I could give it a zero rating I would have. Tarahumara is the best Mexican restaurant by far in Norman. If you're going to open a restaurant, go BIG or go home. TACO BELL is better than this place, heck even the local Mexican food trucks are better. Very sad‼ read more

My dad and I happened upon this place and we are so glad that we did! The food was very very good. They offer a 5 mini street taco special which was a great way to sample different flavors of meat. My personal favorite was the Al Pastor with pineapple. The white cheese dip was good. The salsa was just alright - nothing too special. Our waitress was very kind and helpful. The food came out so quickly and was hot and fresh, too. I am so glad I have another Mexican restaurant to frequent. I would highly recommend. read more

This place is a new Mexican restaurant here in Norman. It is really worth a try. The service was excellent, the food is delicious and more of what I expect from Mexican cuisine. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. It was steadily busy the entire time we were there but we never felt neglected. The food is so tasty. Good meats, excellent sauces, great chips and salsa. My husband, son, and I ate at Casa Herrera Mexican Restaurant April 3, 2025 on east alameda in Norman. I have to say this is our new favorite place for Mexican food. The menu is quite extensive. My husband got the chili Verde, son had Chile Colorado and I had the best chile rellano I have ever eaten anywhere. We also had enchiladas, tamales, and all the sauced and dips and guacamole and I especially loved the Spanish rice. We were too late for the lunch specials but everything was reasonably priced and the portions were large enough for plenty of leftovers the next day. Oh and the service was great and it was VERY clean. It seems like it's hard for restaurants in that location here on the east side of Norman to stay in business so please folks if you're hungry for Mexican food please give them a try so maybe we can keep a great place to eat. I went in and was immediately sat down by the hostess or cashier, we went on a Friday and it was not too full. We did not like the look the hostess gave us. it was look of somewhat disgust. But aside from that our server was great, food was very good. Our server was so nice, he made sure we felt welcomed. Only complain was the beginning of our experience. Me and my husband felt unwelcome due to the hostess or cashier until our sever attended us. Loved this place, will be coming back. read more
