Outstanding customer service. I've been going to Chelino's since i was a kid and ever since then, the service has just gotten better and better. The food is amazing and so nostalgic of my childhood and it stays authentic. One of those spots you can bring that special someone to without breaking the bank but feeling like royalty. This used to be my all time favorite restaurant when I lived in Oklahoma. So excited to go today but the food was disgusting. Restaurant was hot...needed to turn up the ac. Prices were high for what you received, service was subpar, bathroom was gross (no tp, no soap). Salsa was watery, runny tomato sauce. No carrot relish. My chimichanga was meh. Took forever to bring my daughter's pathetic looking quesadilla. Chellinos will now be a memory for me. Will never return. read more

We visit the Norman area often and are always looking for great restaurants...and have found a few so far. We stay at a hotel near Chelino's and we always drive by so we thought we'd give it a try. First let me say the service was good and friendly! Seemed like there were many regulars there so I was encouraged:) We received chips, hot sauce and what I think was supposed to be queso very quickly :) The chips were just ok, the hot sauce seemed generic and had no real flavor and the "queso"...neither my boyfriend or I could tell what it was but we didn't like it at all. We ordered and shared the Mexican Lasagna. The meat was tough and had a lot of melted cheese on it. The cheese enchiladas were bland and super greasy and so was the entire dish. I'm a native Texan and am used to amazing TexMex and this was not a spot for that. Maybe OK Mexican food is different so we'll try other places. The Mangonada was good though :) But sorry to say, we will not be going back to this place. I really wanted to like it because it was close and the service was good. Sigh read more

Went today and ordered the Mulitas. The menu states plates are served with two sides, and on previous visits we've always received two sides with this item. Today we were told it didn't come with any sides and were charged $5.00 for chino beans. I would understand a premium upcharge, but being told it came with none at all was confusing given what the menu states. They may need to clarify the menu or ensure staff are consistent with what's listed. read more

My girlfriend and I went to grab a bite here and when we arrived we were greeted with great service and chips, queso and salsa which we thought was very kind. But at the end of our time we were told we got charged with a "set up fee" which was meaning we got charged for the chips and salsa and queso even though we did not order it and hardly ate any of it. We were just frustrated that we weren't informed it would have a cost since he just gave it to us with no questions. read more

Driving thru on the way home to Texas (after a 2 1/2 week road trip up North). Was hoping we were close enough to Texas to find Tex-Mex. I would have passed Chelino's up if I hadn't heard how good the birria tacos were. The hype is true... so, so delicious! The star of the meal was the Especial Salsa omg I'm going to be dreaming of this for weeks to come. Sop up the salsa with a corn tortilla or chips and you're good to go, just make sure to wash it down with a cold cerveza or a jalapeño lime ranch water. Nice clean restaurant. Love the foods to choose from and eat. Only minus is I feel like I'm eating in a colluseum. Sound levels can get very high in the restaurant. Just like with every other family of restaurants, there's always some that are better than others, this location on Main is indeed legit!! #40 Guiso , (with all steak please,),,is my go-to at most locations, and ALWAYS with a side of mama beans (if your an ole school chelino fan like me otherwise its called chino beans!! Another wonderful meal at the bar of Chelino's in Norman. The food came so fast that I didn't have time to check in first. This time I got the Quesabirria Tacos and a Chelino's Mexican Candy. They were both delicious. The tacos were hot and fresh. I thoroughly enjoy our dinners here. All the servers are wonderful to us, especially our usual bartender. We have eaten thrice at Chelino's and it has become our goto Mexican Cuisine place. The food and the portions are excellent - this is by far the most authetic Mecican food I have tasted. The service is excellent and spot-on. All the three times the wait staff and the usher were very attentive throughout the meal. There was warmth and familiarity - that which seperates OK from excellence. The ambiance is again very exceptional-It is as if the "aroma" of Mexico was brought to Norman. The restaurant has back to back Television Sets and one can watch Football or any other sport of choice and of the day!! I strongly recommend Chelino's for those who want a satisfying Mexican meal with excellent taste, exceptional service, moderate prices and a warm cozy feeling while dining. Although the sports bar atmosphere was nice and the waitstaff is friendly, the food is not good. The queso and salsa that is supplied when initially sitting down were both subpar. Queso tasted just like a melted block of cheese no real flavor or dimension to it and the salsa is quite watery like a blended pico. The lunch size quesadilla was a child size quesadilla the size of a small soft taco, dry cubed chicken with flavorless cheese that may have been a slice of American cheese. Husband got the sour cream chicken enchiladas, these came with shredded chicken that seemed to have been soaking in a chicken broth that had the strong flavor of buillon cubes. There are lots of completely American food options on the menu. Hoping they just do a rerun of their menu and can get their food more comparable to real Mexican food or Tex-mex. read more

What a joke! I've attached a copy of the check. The food is sub par for Mexican. My granddaughter ordered the taco lunch special, but didn't like them. After one bite, she quit. Itold the waiter that she wasn't happy with them. He asked her 3 times if she wanted something else. After her 3rd no, she finally vented out and told him that if they can't even make a taco right then why would she want something else that would be just as bad or worse. I had the fajita combo lunch special. The beef pieces were fatty and the chicken was over cooked. I asked for a more Mexican style salsa since the table side version was a tad bit mild.
