Pasta risotto with black truffle - this is their best dish
Chau B.

Day 2 in Barcelona - We stumbled upon Casa Rafols by accident while looking for a church. At first, we were hesitant, but a couple walking out told us how much they loved the place and especially recommended the risotto. Luckily, there was an opening for one hour, so we grabbed it. We ordered the octopus ceviche, roast beef with Dijon mustard, coca bread with salmon, brie cheese, and for dessert, the chocolate ganache with olive oil toast. Every dish exceeded my expectations. The black truffle risotto turned out to be my daughter's favorite--she's a foodie who's eaten at many Michelin-starred restaurants, and she said it was the best risotto she's had in a long time. I agreed. Normally, I'm not a fan of risotto, but this one was so good I'd happily order a second. The chocolate ganache dessert was also outstanding--rich, unique, and absolutely delicious.

This is our favorite restaurant in Barcelona!!! We live in Michigan and visit Barcelona about once a year and this is the first restaurant we go to when we land and last restaurant we hit before we leave. The food/tapas are phenomenal and it lives rent free in our head. The cozyness and vibe is great but make sure you make a reservation well ahead of time because it is quite small and I've never been able to get a walk in reservation. The staff are nice too and they have an english menu but of course it helps if you know spanish!

We stumbled upon this place in 2019 and were lucky enough to get a table without a wait. Little did we know what a gem it was! Great tapas in a cozy setting.

Sangria

Wonderfully intimate restaurant and a must-try when in the city. I recommend calling to reserve a table because the tables fill up fast. Here is how to have the best dining experience : 1. Sangria N°1 for the table. A refreshing blend of citrus and spices. 2. Tapas to share - Patatas Bravas or the Potato Tortilla, Coca bread with tomato, Salmon Blinis and the Ceviche 3. Small personal bites (or keep sharing which I always recommend) - Roast beef with Dijon, Cecina with goat cheese 4. Truffle Risotto. I could eat this all day long. If you have room, any of the desserts paired with an espresso is delightful. Every time I have dined here ( too many to count) I have been more than pleased with the service. The staff is very friendly and are happy to give menu recommendations.

We loved everything there; food, vibes, services. It is highly recommended when you are in Barcelona.

Delicious food and charming atmosphere -- best enjoyed in small groups or as a couple. Patatas bravas was boiled which was very different from the traditional fried ones we've had while traveling Spain.. but I think I liked the traditional version better. The octopus ceviche was fresh and the risotto was good.

Ordered: Lolea Sangria (~€19) Burrata con Pesto Salad (~€13) 4 Mini Hamburguesa (~€6 each) Patatas Bravas (~€7) Tartar de Atun (~€16) Truffle Risotto (~€15) Ceviche de Pulpo (~€10) Coco Bread with Salmon (~€12) Aya's take: Very cute, cozy place! We had a reservation for a party of 6 and our table was ready when we arrived; they even had my name written which was super cute. We started with the Lolea Sangria which was fruity, tangy, and just a bit too sweet for me. Some of my favorite bites were the Tartar de Atun (tuna tartare) and Truffle Risotto which is an absolute must! The Burrata con Pesto Salad was very light and creamy, and great for sharing. Their Patatas Bravas is different than the traditional and I didn't really care for it honestly. I would've preferred them crispy. All in all, nice spot for dinner with friends. It's not that big so I definitely suggest making a reservation ahead of time.

Right after we arrived in Barcelona, Jamie W. and I couldn't wait to explore the labyrinth of historic alleys that define the old city. In the middle of the La Rivera neighborhood, we stumbled on this stylish tapas cafe covered in red polka dots and checkerboards, it appeared to be run by an all-female staff, and the inviting place was bustling in the early evening. The hostess asked us if we had a reservation to which we had to demur. However, she accommodated us by asking if we could finish our meal within an hour. No problem. Of course we had to start with sangria, and it turned out they make their own. We shared the 19€ bottle of Lolea Mediterranean Aperitif, and it managed to taste luscious without being too sweet (photo: https://yelp.to/kujXhf64Xj). We kept it simple beginning with the 4.10€ Gilda Alcachofa, a large skewer of marinated olives, artichoke, peppers, sun-dried tomato, and grilled pearl onion (photo: https://yelp.to/0V94it5Q8p). Nice starter. A daily special came next, the 9.90€ Ceviche de Pulpo, a nice size plate of sliced fresh octopus marinated in citrus and seasonings and sprinkled with chopped basil (photo: https://yelp.to/LS5YWhpCE3). The starches followed with the freshly made and perfectly round 15.20€ Potato 'Tortilla'. It had a nice grilled crust with a buttery interior. It came on the same cutting board as the 5.90€ Coca Bread with Tomato (photo: https://yelp.to/vCKe2s9hMj). Just love me some tomato bread. We ended our meal with the 10.90€ Pasta Del Dia, a creamy, cheesy ravioli with mushrooms and garlic (photo: https://yelp.to/Ejmq5tQw9e). Sated with ten minutes to spare. Delicioso! FOOD - 5 stars...masterfully executed tapas and not complicated AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...a festive, cozy spot with flair SERVICE - 5 stars...enthusiastic and polite TOTAL - 5 stars...delightful sangria and tasty tapas in a fun spot in La Rivera RELATED - Exploring Barcelona? What is there to say? Amazing quality, value & service. Highly recommend trying the 4 open face tapa sandos if you're into those. The potato salad and salmon belinis were exquisite w their delicate texture and juicy flavor. Oh yeas, don't forget the vermouth as it all the flavors perfectly. (see: sweet and salty) enjoy

Perfect ending to a long day exploring the city! Everything we had was delicious. Service was quick & friendly.

My favorite dinner in Barcelona. We visited twice. I like the white sangria, tuna tartar, and roast beef sandwich. The sangria wasn't too sweet, and it didn't taste like there was a lot of alcohol in it (as someone who doesn't drink much, I liked the taste). You can easily make reservations online via Google. Friendly and efficient service. Each time we were there for just about an hour.

Crema Catalina. Yummm

The service was friendly and prompt. The food was amazing. All of it! Our hotel was close by so we gave it a try. They took us right away and gave us a great experience. Thank you!!

Black truffle risotto, spinach gnocchi, octopus ceviche

Our first night in Barcelona upon arriving around 10pm at our hotel this was within walking distance and were were starving. Glad we found this small restaurant tucked in the alley. It's seriously a gem with amazing abs friendly service. All the food was beyond amazing, we actually went back a second time the next night haha. Black truffle risotto is a MUST TRY. I've never had risotto before and this blew my mind. Along with the spinach gnocchi which was the pasta of the day. We also had the octopus ceviche! Yum! Second night we ordered sangria Lolea No 2, steak tartar, mini burgers, salmon blinis, and some special menu items. Also all delicious! Our server the first night was really nice and she spoke really good English so I assume she is from the US too. She gave us recommendations where to go around Barcelona.

The service was excellent, our server spoke English and knew so much about American pop culture. He even sang NSYNC songs to us while serving us dishes. As for the food let's get into it: - Lobster Croquettes (8/10) We've had a lot of croquettes this trip, but these were on another level, get one per person. - Paella (7.5/10) Different style of paella from other places we went. It was almost like a paella curry, which was still rich and delicious. - Squid Sandwich (10/10) This is hands down the best appetizer I've ever had. The squid was packed with flavor and the mayo sauce they used paired perfectly. Order one per person, and be prepared to order another to go. - Garlic Shrimp (8/10) Solid entree paired with sourdough bread. Dip that bread into the sauce and you'll be satisfied. - Aged Beef Steak w/ Foie Gras (9/10) This might be one of the best steak dishes I've had traveling abroad. It was cooked perfectly, and came with a potato crust on the bottom and Foie Gras on top. Definitely a must order. Overall a great experience, from the service and ambiance to the quality of the food, this is a must try when visiting Barcelona. Would I go again? Absolutely!

We also really liked the garlic shrimp, which had a nice fragrant flavor from the heads. The tiramisu was also delightful with a nice balance of sweet and bitter flavors. We heard the razor clams were really good, but they didn't have any the day we visited which was a bummer!

We ordered 10 dishes: Pan Con Tomate (bread with tomato and tomato sauce), Patatas Bravas (Spanish potatoes; not greasy, very tasty), Albondigas de la Yaya (meatballs with tomato sauce; very tender meat), Calamares a la Andaluza (fried squid; nicely cooked and not rubbery, like them alot), Bastoncitos de Pollo (homemade chicken nuggets with BB sauce; crispy and tender, tasty BB sauce), Empanada Compesina (not too crazy about this one), Empanada Picante (spicy meat; it is okay), Spaghetti Carbonara (very soft, lots of sauce; nice dish), Yakimeshi (rice with squid and shrimp; my favorite!), and Macareno (hamburger, doble cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and fried egg; very juicy, mouth watering and very American hamburger!) Water is a very pricey item in Europe. We ordered three bottles of water at 2.30 EUR or 2.60 USD each. We did get 30% off our bill! The server was friendly, patient, polite, and very warm. The dishes were reasonably priced. We had a wonderful dining experience at this place. Highly recommended if you visit the area.

Pair it all with a cold Estrella and you've got yourself a 5-star winner! I loved the fun learning curve here: grab a plate, pick whatever pintxos catch your eye, and keep the toothpicks (of all shapes and sizes!) so your total can be tallied at the end. Some toothpicks were just holding things together -- I had to laugh at that -- but it's all part of the charm and experience. La Tasqueta was so good that we came back a few days later for another round, only to find it temporarily closed due to a plumbing issue. Sadly, we couldn't wait since we'd already hiked all over Montjuïc earlier that day. We tried another pintxo place down the block -- it was okay, but honestly, not even close to the same level. This place is amazing -- friendly, fun, and absolutely delicious. Sit inside and be dazzled by the colorful pintxos lined up along the counter, or grab a spot outside under an umbrella and watch the world go by. Loved this place... 5 stars all the way!

I was definitely right on the mark as all restaurants I've walked by before dinner wasn't as crowded as this. And this place had a line out the door. Pan con tomate (toasted bread with tomato spread) was done sooo right here because they used crisp brioche bread and the tomato spread had a nice balanced ratio of olive oil blended into it. The patatas bravas (brave potatoes) took me back to the first time I had this in 2018. Such good crisp skin, soft fluffiness and that aioli mayo signature sauce on top - I swear I feel they make their own sauce for this dish. Grilled octopus here is special as instead of a tentacle - you get a fatty piece with multiple cuts of the octopus. Even better just as you would get multiple pieces of fatty toro in an omakase. I just loved the ease of dining in Barcelona where you share small intricate flavored plates with a glass of wine to balance these dishes. It was a nice long but roomier restaurant in the back. Very deceptive to the eyes but in a good way. You get to see the chefs cook near you that makes you appreciate the work of art put into the food. The restaurant is separated into two main areas, with an earth-tone color scheme that has a rustic, almost cave-like aesthetic.
