Love coming to this spot whenever I'm in Spain and by the Sagrada Família. I've come twice now, once in 2023 and once in 2025 and both times were a hit. Their tapas are super yummy and I love that they have a display case that shows you a good variety of what you can get. I always recommend the abondigas (there a dark green color from the spinach, but really yummy I promise). I also love the grilled octopus (pulpo) and the seafood paella, which takes a while to cook so order it in advance. The drinks and coffee are always a hit, but I love that it's so close (within walking distance) from the Sagrada Família, so I always make an effort to come here after visiting the landmark. Service has always been great. I have usually been served by the Dark Haired Bartender (ask him about his sister in Utah if you visit). Everyone speaks English and is pretty friendly. It's a smaller spot on one side with bar seating and some tables inside and outside, but they have a more restaurant style sit down place that's a couple stores down so you can have the best of both worlds. I usually opt for the bar seating to people watch and chat with the bartenders. read more

I wish I had good things to say about Casa Angela but I don't. The main issue was the kitchen was not open even as of 12:30 pm. The cooked shrimp was cold but not labeled as such on the menu. The food overall was subpar. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

While Sagrada Família is loaded with every substandard American chain you can imagine... Casa Angela is a shining beacon on the hill. This is the second time I've had the pleasure of dining here and both times were absolutely outstanding. The service we received was fantastic and our guy was extremely kind. The food came out quickly and I have to say, the pork cheek croquettes are the best in the city. The Chicken Paella is out of this world. We normally wouldn't have considered a place this close to a major tourist area (Sagrada familia), but trusted Yelp and are glad we did. Nice, varied, distinctive menu (for example, tortilla Espanola... With truffle). We tried around 5 things and felt everything was nicely and freshly prepared, and service was excellent. We where unable to make it into the Sagrada Familia which is literally across the street when we decided to have a drink and contemplate on the church from outside. We stumbled onto this small restaurant and where able to get seating outside to order several tapas and of course Sangria. The server Hernesto was fast but did take the time to answer questions (don't be shy to ask). We enjoyed several items to include croquettes de mushroom which where absolutely delicious. Just off the Sagrada Familia, Cafe Angela offers delicious Spanish fare with a view of the famous church. Opt to eat outside to take it all in, or take a break from the crowds inside the beautiful restaurant. We ordered a few tapas, including a silky gazpacho, delicious patatas bravas, olives, a fresh salad, and short ribs. The gazpacho and salad were a lovely, filling vegan option. My husband wishes the short ribs were braised longer. Servers all speak English. read more

Food was excellent! We wanted to try tapas first, so we got patatas bravas, croquettes (of the day--squid), and fried cod fritters. They were all very tasty and nicely seasoned. We then ordered some seafood--Galician octopus and beach squid. They were very nicely cooked and presented, and they tasted great. We were still hungry, so we ordered fried prawns and mussels in marina. I really appreciated that the prawns were shelled (minus the tail). We finished with the Catalan custard cream, which was a nice sweet end to the meal. Our waiter was kind enough to take our incoming orders and take a picture of us. We sat outside next to La Sagrada Familia just one sidewalk over, so we had a great view. Would definitely recommend coming here for a nice dinner! NOTE: we did have a man try to pickpocket a phone here by covering it with newspaper that he was trying to "show" us and subtly trying to snatch the phone underneath the paper--we were lucky enough to catch on and stop him, but you should be careful of your surroundings since this area is pretty touristy due to La Sagrada Familia, and similar incidences might occur nearby! read more

For a restaurant this close to a major tourist attraction I was shocked at how good the service and food were here. Within a few hundred feet of La Sagrada Família is a tiny little store front. There is a small area to eat inside and they had a few tables outside on the sidewalk. We grabbed a table outside to enjoy the perfect weather and ordered a few tapas and entrees (and of course sangria). Tapas came out as they were ready. The pádron peppers...amazing! We ordered one of each type of croquette...all delicious! The grilled octopus...also amazing and tender! For entrees we ordered a burger and paella. Seriously some of the best food I've had. The sangria was also perfect! Our waiter was excellent and so friendly. He also spoke perfect English making it so easy to order and ask questions about the menu. If you're in the area don't write off this little gem because it seems like it will be too touristy. This was an excellent meal all around! Looked for a highly rated eatery near the Sagrada de Familia. Lucky to have stumbled into here! This area is touristy so the challenge is to find a legit spot among all of the tourist traps. We ordered the seafood paella and three tapas: shrimp, calamari and patatas bravas. This was my first visit to a restaurant in Spain and I admit I am not all that familiar with Spanish cuisine. Therefore I simplified things and used the senses: eye test, smell test, taste test. The shrimp and calamari tapas were for my wife's family as they are die-hard seafood eaters. Although I thought both were OK. The 5 stars is for their paella and patatas bravas! I have had paella once in NYC and a few times on this trip to Spain. Of those handful of places, I liked Casa Angela's the best. Still learning how to rate a paella but overall impression was theirs was the yummiest! Same with patatas bravas. Theirs was the best of the restaurants I tried during this vacation. This restaurant set the tone. Because of trying it here, I had to order patatas bravas at each restaurant! Casa Angela... First time in Spain and everywhere was great except our lunch experience here was crap enough to compel a review. Our tour guide recommended this spot after La Sagrada Familia so we had high hopes. We were looking at the menuboard they posted outside when the bartender waved us in. We came in and asked for a table for 2 inside and he curtly told us "No tables available." Period. That's fine and all but why bother gesturing to us to come in? And not offer bar seating or outside seating, which were both available. We asked if we could take a table outside and he just shrugged. Again, why bother waving us in and why post your menu outside if you have no interest in serving customers? We self-seated a table outside bc we were starving. The waitress was transactional which is fine but the food was not good enough to justify the rudeness and lukewarm service. My friend said it's just standard macro-aggressive Spanish hospitality. Hey there Spain!! Good job! I had been waiting to try Patatas Bravas since I heard about them from my sister. I then read about them on the plane. Then I spent time wondering where I would try them first at.... So my day started with me ordering breakfast for us with Uber Eats, as per normal, when we do not get out of bed early enough to be responsible adults. Well, the breakfast we ordered took forever, and then when it showed up, my part was not present. So now we are showered and ready to go check out La Familia Sagrado, but my stomach is empty. We hop an Uber and when we arrive, I look across the street....and a big sign says Bravas! I rush right over, order a dish, and wait while my stomach rumbles. I truly believe there is good in every bad situation, had my Uber food arrived, I would not have gotten to try this amazing food. It was so incredibly tasty. If you are near this tourist attraction (Sagrado Familia), just look across the street and pop in! You will be happy you did. Yum! A couple things to note. This establishment is more of a bar than a restaurant. All seating is on bar stools at a counter. Most of the menu items seemed to be more bar bites, than actual entrees. If you are with family or looking for a good sit down restaurant, this may not be for you. However, if you want some great bar food and a drink, get here ASAP. read more
