Really cute spot! The inside was a charming bar with big banquettes and it turns into more of a packed bar by 10ish on weekend nights, loud music but super cute inside. The drinks were so good! I've had this spot saved for a while in my bookmarks on Yelp for a while. I visited on a Saturday night and it wasn't packed. Probably due to the recent cold front December brought the DMV. My friend and I sat at the bar and were greeted by Andrew. He took our order and made us the best drinks! We started with a French 75 and Oaxaca Old Fashioned. I really enjoyed my old fashioned. It was the perfect drink for a cold night. I had the Layover because I'm also a gin fan. It's Casa Luna's play at an Aviation. Andrew made us a sample of a Japanese vodka espresso martini as well. I visited Casa Luna on a Sunday evening with a friend. It was pretty empty when we arrived but quickly filled up. This cute little cocktail bar, tucked in the bottom of a building, offers custom drinks crafted to your liking. Although it was understaffed that day, and service was a bit slow, the quality of the drinks more than made up for it. Our bartender--who might also be the owner--was fantastic. If you gave him a general taste profile, he'd create a delicious custom drink based on that. We also ordered sushi rolls from the restaurant above, which were tasty. I have been several times (alone, with small groups, with large groups) and regardless of the party size it always seems to take about 30 minutes to get anything if you are not sitting at the bar. Bar seats are the way to go! Drinks are, as previously mentioned - amazing. But don't order shots. They charge about $15+ for a shot so it is best to order a drink at that cost. If you aren't feeling anything on the menu, they will make experimental drinks for you based on your preferences. But you gotta sit at the bar and it shouldn't be too busy! They will charge more than you expect for these special drinks, but it's certainly a fun experience with the right bartended. All bartenders are very knowledgeable and very skilled. Though... I will warn individuals that some of the bartenders do play favorites for people that are fem. presenting and good looking. It can be annoying waiting so long for you or your parties drinks when someone else at the bar is getting a lot of attention by those supposed to be working. It also can be uncomfortable for those that are getting unsolicited attention from the few offending bartenders as well. Be smart and come with a friend ladies! I go elsewhere now because of the long wait time, pricy drinks, any sometimes uncomfortable atmosphere. Heard some good things about his place, so I figured I'd stop by after dinner at Kisso. It was a Thursday night, so it was just the right time to absorb the surroundings. I had a Banana Walnut Old Fashioned on the advice of the bartender, and it was great (they also do smoked drinks. Bad photo below)! The flavors weren't overbearing, and it had just the right combination of ingredients. They have lots of booths for groups, a good amount of seating at the bar, and a pretty good selection of liquor to meet the needs of most people. First review of 2024, Casa Luna is it :)!! Casa was a pivot move after we were underwhelmed up the street at King's Ransom. Looking at the brightside, we were able to knock out two bookmarked speakeasys in one night! Unlike King's Ransom that only offered pizza and mozzarella sticks for the most part, Casa has a very nice menu that goes well with the "Spanish" speakeasy theme. First time out we went with the crab rangoon, ribeye sliders and their version of shrimp cocktail. All were very good but the shrimp cocktail was freakin AWESOME!! I wish I could remember our bartender's name because his personality was GREAT! Talk about a man who loves his job and genuinely loves people. He made the evening while creating our craft drinks and hitting the spot on all the recommended tapas style dishes. Casa is definitely hiding in plain sight, right across the street from one of if not my favorite cigar lounge (Basin Street)... who knew.. Reservation: highly recommended They have only 10 or so tables on top of the bar, so it gets full fast. 2. Drinks: cool display and decent taste 3. We were offered a small table between 2 other tables when the rest of the place only had a few. They had 5-6 nice booths with only one occupied. We asked but were told they were reserved. We opted for the bar instead. Stools were uncomfortable and not much leg room. Our bartender was very accommodating and nice. Drinks were decent. Didn't order bar food as we didn't want to spoil our Dinner (elsewhere). Food options were limited and no snacks (pretzels or something) on bar which would been nice. Place was a bit awkward. Such a stylish tucked away bar. I come on a week night around 11 and it was half full so it makes since to make reservations if you can. The kitchen closed at 9:45 so we didn't get any food. We got a few drinks but the table favorite was a mocktail that tasted very similar to a mojito. It's a little cold so I recommend bringing a jacket. Our server was also trying to wipe our table off I'm guessing to avoid drink stains on the white tables but I thought it was kind of strange and she should have gave us napkins if that was the case. We went on a weeknight so it wasn't crowded at all and the server was super nice. Drinks were presented well and tasted great but the food was nothing special. This place has been on my bookmarks for a while and it was definitely worth the wait. The vibe here is electric! The food is delicious and the service is outstanding! The ribeye slider shareable is an actual ribeye sliced and seasoned to perfection. The shrimp cocktail should be renamed "gourmet" shrimp cocktail because the way the shrimp are seasoned and marinated is like no other. Lastly, the crab rangoon were hot, fresh and delicious. The bartender sets the tone for a unique experience. He can make any drink you request and eludes "I love what I do" which is great to see. The menu is seasonal and will rotate often so give this place a try. It is smaller but very intimate, cozy, and has a good size bar if that's your preference for the night. I am happy we decided to knock off two speakeasies this night because King's Ransom was a tad underwhelming from our expectations. Okay - so this was a tough review to write but overall would recommend and would return, however had some issues that I'll keep in mind going forward. First off - the drinks are delicious. I can't drink alcohol, I get very sick if I do, so the fact that the bar tenders could make custom delicious mocktails was awesome. So, an issue we ran into was that I was mistakenly served a cocktail. I didn't know it was a cocktail, I was sitting at a table, not at the bar, so I didn't see it made. when I started drinking it i couldn't taste the alcohol. So when my mocktail was then delivered it was an unpleasant surprise. I didn't have a great evening when I got home, and was sick most of the weekend, despite only having drank a small amount of the cocktail. My husband drank the remainder of the cocktail and agreed it was made so well you just couldn't taste the alcohol! Anyway, just something to be careful if you can't drink alcohol for some reason, to confirm when the drink brought to you doesn't have alcohol in it. As it relates to the food, I would recommend only getting appetizers or snacks. Some members of my group ordered dinner and the wait staff from the restaurant upstairs just seemed to be displeased with having to bring food down to the bar. They also didn't come with everything needed and got annoyed when the group asked for stuff - forks/knives/chopsticks/soysauce/napkins. We definitely felt like a burden. Of note - you pay as you go for the food, so don't be surprised when they bring you the food check right away and then don't be surprised for a separate bill for the drinks. despite these couple of drawbacks, i still really enjoyed coming here and have since recommended it to quite a few people and will gladly return! read more

The place can be a little hard to find. We walked past it a couple of times since the GPS brought us to the corner and not right in front of the door. Note that it is located in a multi-venue building, with Casa Luna being in the basement and the actual restaurant the food comes from being upstairs. In any case, Casa Luna is small and intimate. The tables are very close together and low so if you intend to order any food, you're better off sitting at the bar for the arm room. I found the hostess (once she emerged) kind and helpful, but it did take a minute or so before we were greeted. Note, if you book a "dining room," table as I mentioned earlier, the food comes from a sushi place upstairs. Worse off, if you're at the bar you have to physically walk upstairs to order it and tell them where you're seated. Honestly, this threw me off because I didn't realize this place didn't have food of its own. For that reason, I recommend this place only for a night cap or a pregame. The cocktails are worth the visit. My Khalessi was quite tasty and presentation was amazing. read more
