The owner Isabel was so amazing and actually hung out with us for the entire time we were there , making it a great experience . Service is excellent and the decor in the place is very Mexican festive . They have lots of tvs and sounds like the place to be to watch a soccer game . A reservation for twelve. Two hours in the restaurant. Not a single bite of food. We arrived at 8:30pm on a Saturday for a reservation for twelve. There wasn't even a chair for me at our table. I stood there for 5 minutes before anyone noticed. Then nobody came to our table for more than 30 minutes. No greeting, no water, no drink order. A waitress dropped off menus and walked away. I understand being busy and short-staffed, but nobody even bothered to tell us "We're slammed, we'll be with you shortly." Nothing. Eventually, someone at our table went to the bar to order. I followed and had to flag someone down. A waitress took my drinks and food order. Drinks took forever. Arriving over the next 30 minutes, in the wrong order. More than 30 minutes after taking my food order, that same waitress returned and told me the kitchen was closed and my food wasn't happening. She had taken the order herself! Never mentioned a cutoff and let me sit there for 30+ minutes without telling me there was a problem. When I asked about it, I got attitude instead of an explanation. No offer to make things right, nothing! Then, ten minutes later, food was brought to someone AT MY OWN TABLE who had ordered only minutes before me. When I questioned it, I was simply told they ordered first. I asked when the kitchen closes and was told 9:00 every day. That's difficult to reconcile with karaoke being advertised every Friday and Saturday evening, especially since friends of mine have ordered and eaten here well past 9:00pm on weekends. Either way, a party of twelve with an 8pm reservation should know about a 9pm cutoff before having its food order taken. What probably happened is she forgot about my order and by the time she remembered and entered it, it was too late. Then came the bill. I paid for my two drinks and signed. Earlier, another person in our group couldn't get anyone's attention, so when I finally flagged the waitress down, I asked if she wanted to order a drink too. That was her drink not mine and not my tab. After I had already paid, she came back, told me she had voided my completed payment, and charged me for three drinks instead. She reversed the entire transaction and made me pay again. It took a back-and-forth to correct it. Why didn't she ask or just charge me for the extra drink she thought was mine? why void the entire transaction? ‍ After two hours, I left with two drinks, no food, and virtually no service. We walked to El Aguila Dorada on Broadway, where we were greeted, seated, given drinks, and served actual food. We stayed until about 11:30. I never write reviews. I rarely have the time, and never take the time to do it. This is the first experience that made me feel it was worth sitting down and writing one. The food at Casa Lupita might be excellent. Usually I don't go to Casa lupita, but my options were limited due to places being closed on Sunday. I was literally starving but was craving flautas. I called & placed an order ( decided to give them another shot). As I walk in , greetings were ok. I confirmed I ordered flautas, she then says "next time you order it's tacos dorada" and im like huh? Ok usually anywhere I go they say flautas. She keeps on going about tacos doradas. I have been here a couple of times and tried few items from the menu. I personally always enjoy the victoria very great sample plater perfect for two. The cemitas are absolutely delicous but I find them to be pretty big for one person. The gorditas were okay, they had so much lettuce and little protein but it was still enjoyable. Though it took awhile for us to pay the bill on a Friday night they seemed packed with to go and delivery orders. There were only a couple of tables but the waitress was running around trying to get all the delivery orders out. We got fish tacos and Al pastor tacos. Both were decent. Complimentary chips I liked a lot. The Al pastor tacos were a little spicy, had good flavor overall and I was satisfied but nothing super special. Piled high with chopped onion and cilantro. It was supposed to come with some nopales on the side but it was just grilled green onion instead. I would have preferred cactus. Their menu is also very big so lots of options. Any times I'm craving tacos in Bayonne I always come to Casa Lupita The staff here is so sweet and welcoming. They always serve us chips and salsa and it's on the house. The chips is fresh, hot, and tasty with their salsa. Also ordered the Al pastor tacos and birria tacos, and they add good amounts of meat for both taco types. Filled with flavoring and the Birria broth is so good. I highly recommend coming here if it isn't for tacos as they have other menu items. After tacos I love getting dessert and trust me on the flan/ tres leches. Flan is so good!!! And my absolute favorite is the tres leches. It's so good and the extra milk that goes with the cake is mouth watering. I always finish the tres leches in less than 2 minutes because it's so good. If you're ever in the mood for authentic Mexican food and you're in the area, this is your place. Between Jersey City and Bayonne, this might be my second (after Orale) Mexican spot to gub at. Casa Lupita offers real, authentic Mexican food for a fairly cheap price. Every time I come, I end up ordering something different and I'm never disappointed. One thing you have to make sure you order is the tres leche -- AMAZING! The staff here is always super friendly and although at times, the wait can be a while for takeout, (I have yet to dine in) it is worth it. I would def recommend Casa Lupita to anyone craving great Mexican food. We decided to shake it up recently and order from another Mexican place in the neighborhood. Casa Lupita turned out to be a tremendous mistake! The chicken tacos were very dry and absolutely without flavor. They were so bad that they were inedible. The tacos Al Pastor were nearly impossible to tell from the Carne Enchilada tacos. No heat and no taste. Their "red" salsa tasted like nothing more then oil and way too much salt. The cilantro used on the tacos was absolutely tasteless, maybe frozen and defrosted from a package or something but definitely not fresh. The chorizo burrito was about 2/3 the size that it should have been and was tasteless. Everything was basically boring and without flavor. Your best bet is staying with the great one in the neighborhood and avoiding this half- assed excuse for Mexican food. read more

I ordered for the first time from here during Covid to support the owners. The fries I got were absolutely delicious, and I'm still thinking about them. Unfortunately, the tacos were lacking flavor and the meat was very fatty and weird. They double layered tortillas hadn't been heated, so they had a "raw" flavor and cold texture. The delivery also took over an hour to come, so I'd definitely pickup if I was ordering again. My fiancé and I absolutely love Casa Lupita! It has been our go to place during this quarantine. The family who owns this restaurant is super nice and the food has been really good. My favorite is the regular tostadas which has no meat and my fiancé usually gets a torta or tacos. OH and I can not forget their Tres leche! It is to die for! They have no had any since the quarantine but I was able to try their arroz con leche. They made it fresh just for my order. Forget the old reviews, if you go there today you will get the absolute best authentic Mexican food in the entire area. I've been to them all in Bayonne and surrounding area and this is the best by far. This is not fast food! They make 200 tamales by scratch on Friday and Saturday night and they are sold out the next day. Everything is recipes handed down for generations of family in Mexico and cooked for us in Jersey. This place is the real deal and I suggest you go there and enjoy authentic Mexican food by a lovely, warm and caring owner. Izzy is an amazing woman who grew up in a little town in Mexico with a bunch of siblings and made her way by herself to America and is now sending her daughter to law school. Went in on my birthday to eat. Ordered a steak cooked rare. I was very happy with how quickly the food came out. Steak was well. Rice was a mushy ball of goop. That's fine, this can be fixed. So I get my servers attention and get it refired. No issue. Food comes out. Steak is medium, no replacement to the rice and beans. Rice still mushy. I'm not going to send it back again. Yum! I love good Mexican home cooking, and this place didn't disappoint. The owner made all the food fresh while we were there. We had a great time sitting, talking and eating. The guacamole was first-rate. For dinner, I had chilaquiles with steak, and it was fresh, flavorful and there was so much that I had to take it home. My husband had a steak torta and loved it. Service was friendly, sweet and we felt like we were being welcomed into a family setting and not just a restaurant. I came here on a Saturday early evening and ordered veggie tacos to go. There was not one customer in the restaurant. I asked how long it would take and the girl who took my order said 10-15 minutes. I also asked what was in the tacos and she said mushrooms and other seasonal vegetables. My order took over 30 minutes to come out and my tacos were mostly shredded lettuce and tomato. No cheese, no mushrooms and the tiny bit of shredded peppers and spinach that were in the bottom had no seasoning leaving the tacos completely tasteless. My wife and I ordered take out on Cinco De Mayo. I was told that it was a 45 min to an hour wait. I got to the restaurant about 45 mins after I ordered and had to wait another 30 mins. I still had high hopes based on the reviews. Unfortunately it not only didn't live up to my high hopes, the food was horrible. My wife ordered the steak fajitas and I ordered the steak chilaquiles. Everything was unbelievably bland. The rice was literally the worst rice we both ever had. Casa Lupita used to be located in a different spot and had a different menu. I was not a fan of the old menu, and the old location was adequate, but not great. There is another good Mexican place in town, but its prices are much higher and the wait for deliveries or even in-restaurant orders is usually quite long. Since Casa Lupita's move, everything has been an upgrade. The new location is beautiful and much more spacious. The food is excellent now and at a reasonable price and without the ridiculous wait times of their competitor. My girlfriend and I have both ordered out and dined in at Casa Lupita and I would recommend either experience. read more

The food here was great! The service was wonderful. We met and chatted with the owner Isabel..she was Wonderful and our server Paulina was so sweet.
