Unfortunately the nut infusion precluded me from trying it. I had a complimentary Old Fashioned instead. It was just as good as The Highlander. My meal consisted of Beef Carpaccio and Steak Salad. Down to business - friendly, if not a little indifferent, service and rustic, simple décor. In the middle of the room is the huge grill on which the slabs of meat were being cooked. It was fun watching these guys move the meat around, clearly knowledgeable and skilled. The wine we were recommended, a Malbec of course, was damn good. When my food arrived, there was a wry smile on my face. Perhaps it was a boastful smile. The sizzling paradilla that was squeezed onto our table was a meat delight. 2 sausages, 1 black pudding, a slab of provolone and the stars of the show, a huuuuge sirloin and a juicy fillet. Shared between two, this was more than enough. We went for a side of salad to compliment. The meat was fantastic. Really, very good. And the sign of a good steak - the fat from the sirloin was melt-in-your-mouth juicy and tasty. Such a treat. As we were one of the last customers to finish, we witnessed the staff setting up for an end of shift dinner. Steaks, bread, salads and bottles of wine were assembled on the table and they promptly sat down to eat together to see the night out. Nice touch that.

Had a good catch up with a mate last night here over one of the best steaks I've had in long time. La Pampa is an Argentinean restaurant which has a really nice feel to it. Its quite small but serves amazing food. I had two small fillet steaks with two eggs with a side salad that we shared. It was unreal! The steak was served perfectly medium rare, with some really nice traditional hot sauce. You can't have steak without some hot sauce!! The side salad was also amazing, coming with heart of palms which are another big favourite of mine. The staff were great - friendly, attentive but clearly experience and didn't over do it. It wasn't cheap but considering there were quite a few beers etc it worked out really well. 12 out of 10 for this place!
