It's when you get inside that the smell hits you. My co-eater noted, with some delight, that it even smelt like South America - the meat, the wine, the spices. Mouths were watering. Down to business - friendly, if not a little indifferent, service and rustic, simple décor. In the middle of the room is the huge grill on which the slabs of meat were being cooked. It was fun watching these guys move the meat around, clearly knowledgeable and skilled. The wine we were recommended, a Malbec of course, was damn good. When my food arrived, there was a wry smile on my face. Perhaps it was a boastful smile. The sizzling paradilla that was squeezed onto our table was a meat delight. 2 sausages, 1 black pudding, a slab of provolone and the stars of the show, a huuuuge sirloin and a juicy fillet. Shared between two, this was more than enough. We went for a side of salad to compliment. The meat was fantastic. Really, very good. And the sign of a good steak - the fat from the sirloin was melt-in-your-mouth juicy and tasty. Such a treat. As we were one of the last customers to finish, we witnessed the staff setting up for an end of shift dinner. Steaks, bread, salads and bottles of wine were assembled on the table and they promptly sat down to eat together to see the night out. Nice touch that.

The rustic atmosphere is charming, so there's no need to wear 5-inch high heals when dining here. The authentic Argentine Steakhouse is home to traditional Argentine char-grilled lamb and pork ribs. El Gaucho boasts that all of the beef is freshly imported from Argentina. As a former vegetarian, I was happy to find that there is also a great selection of vegetarian empanadas and tortas.

Unfortunately, our visit to Sussex Fish Bar turned into an experience we'd rather forget. We arrived around 9:30 PM, tired and starving after a long day of sightseeing. The restaurant wasn't crowded, and we were seated promptly. The menu is quite limited, which we initially took as a positive sign, assuming the kitchen focused on quality rather than quantity. However, this assumption was quickly dashed. Our group of five ordered two portions of fish and chips, two mixed platters, and a two-piece fried chicken. The fish and chips and mixed platters came out quickly and were decent--nothing extraordinary but satisfying enough for our hunger. However, the fried chicken became the source of frustration. Over 15 minutes passed, and there was still no sign of the chicken. We followed up with the waiter, who admitted he had forgotten the order. Despite repeated reminders and visible tension between the waiter and the kitchen staff, it took another five minutes for the chicken to arrive. By then, the person who ordered it had completely lost their appetite. What made the situation worse was the lack of an apology or any effort to make amends. Not only was there no acknowledgment of their mistake, but they also had the audacity to insist on charging us for the untouched chicken that remained on the table. To add insult to injury, the restaurant's front door wouldn't close properly, letting in an icy draft on a cold and windy night. When we attempted to adjust the door, we were scolded by the staff--adding to an already miserable dining experience. In summary: * Service was disorganized and inattentive. * No accountability or courtesy shown for mistakes. * Ambience was uncomfortable, with a freezing draft and unwelcoming staff behavior. This place doesn't even deserve a single star. If you're in the Paddington area and craving fish and chips, do yourself a favor and avoid Sussex Fish Bar. Save your time, money, and mood by dining elsewhere. The lack of pictures to post with this review is a classic proof that we were famish and devoured our food the moment it was served on our table, but also good since we had no desire to recommend this place anyway, a tourist trap!

It's probably one of the smallest Gordon Ramsay venues I've visited, which gives it a cozy atmosphere but also makes for a different experience compared to some of his larger restaurants. The service was memorable, although not in the way I expected. When we sat down, I already knew the Beef Wellington was the signature dish and was prepared for the advertised 45-minute wait, but I wasn't quite sure what else to order. Our waiter enthusiastically declared, "I've got this," started saluting us, and proceeded to recommend--and seemingly order--the Beef Wellington, T-bone steak, and steak tartare before fully confirming what we wanted. We had to flag him back down and explain that we probably didn't need an all-meat feast. After some adjustments, we swapped the T-bone and steak tartare for gnocchi, Caesar salad, and green beans. In the end, those changes turned out to be the right call. The Beef Wellington was everything it should be--perfectly cooked, rich, and worth the wait. The green beans with pine nuts were unexpectedly one of the highlights of the meal, packed with flavor and executed beautifully. The gnocchi was also excellent, with a great texture and comforting richness. By the end of the meal, everyone at our table agreed that this was the best meal we had during our time in London. That's saying a lot considering the city's incredible dining scene. My only real complaint is the restroom situation. The bathroom is tucked behind what feels like a hidden doorway, and there are very few signs directing you there. Overall, Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill delivered exactly what I was hoping for: outstanding food, memorable service, and a meal that stood out among everything else we ate in London.
