I had a restaurant gift certificate for her so I decided to take my family here. I have been a Woodburn resident for nearly three years and have not tried this place yet. It's down the street from Luis' Taqueria (which I'm not a fan of), so I'm sure that place pulls away any potential diners with their "mainstream appeal". We mostly ordered tacos (because that's simply what we love to eat ;). To my surprise they were fresh, handmade tortillas; and yes, that makes a huge difference. And in addition, they were large tortillas! I usually order five tacos at most other places because the tortillas are smaller, but unbeknownst to me I still ordered five this time (and of course, I didn't finish it). The flavor was great as I had a variation of different proteins to try. I really did enjoy their tacos and will return again. Perhaps 3.5 stars. Was a bit put off by the teenage boy & girl getting it on in the booth next to us! Chile Verde and Margaritas ($4.75 for jumbo) were excellent, chicken flautas were very good, (could have been crispier), great salsa, huge servings, beans were bland, rice was food, service was OK. So we checked this place out to see what the deal is. First some general info; - clean Resteraunt - one dude spoke English. The older gentlemen didn't sound like he did - Food we got to go, take away as the Brits say; - chicken tacos - steak tacos - chille relllenos - burrito pastor We took the food home and let me tell you that the food was pretty good. Not as high as I expected but still real good and one of the better Mexican joints I have been to within the general Portland area. Will we go back again? Not sure about this yet, for we still have many Mexican joints to check out before I make myself a repeat customer for a place that I have to drive about 40 minutes to get to. read more

Another Mexican restaurant in Woodburn. Not better, but just as good as Luis's which is right next door. It's difficult not to compare the two. Casa Marquez has a more limited menu but has table service and the atmosphere is more of a restaurant than the more casual atmosphere at Luis's. I can't leave anything less than 1 star. The food was to say the least horrible. The " Carne Asada" isn't even Asada. More like fried. Gross. And also tried the Huarache, the tortilla was hard and was overfilled with lettuce. Didn't look at all appetizing. Service wasn't all that bad. Needless to say, I'm never going back. read more

This restaurant far exceeded my expectations, the restraint was classy, nice, and friendly employees. The menu was organized, short, and easy to navigate. The salsa with the chips was even delicious, and the food was excellent. It was well plated, defiantly fresh, and very good flavor palate. I was weary when we parked, from the outside It looked like you may not want to walk to your car alone but everyone we saw was friendly. Im giving this place a 3.5 The food is not good or bad its just average. Odds are that you will finish your food without any issues. Either the water or the cups taste like faucet a bit stronger than usual. They try to have good service, very attentive and kind but the place was literally empty maybe thats why. My husband and I are from New Mexico/Arizona... We know what true, authentic Mexican food tastes like and this is far from it. When we first walked in we stood there staring around as no one said hello or told us what to do or where to sit. We sat down and the gal set menus down. She came back a good 10 minute later without asking us for our drink order to ask if we were ready... We asked about the fajitas coming with pork (I'm allergic to chicken) and she asked and they said no... That should have been clue 1 to leave. We then asked about the burritos that weren't on the menu... She said we could get any kind. My husband asked if they would make a chile rellano burrito and they said that they have never heard of that....... Uh.... Clue 2 to leave. Finally we ordered a pork burrito with green sauce. About 5 minutes later it comes out with red sauce all over it. I wiped it off and dove in, and after about 3 bites got a super fatty chewy piece of meat. I looked at it and it was a fatty white color. Like nothing I've ever seen on pork. Then my husband got a huge piece of that weird white fat... At that point we both lost our appetites. What a waste, when the top Mexican restaurant is right next door... So so sad. Oh and by the way... We both threw up at least 3 times each after. read more

2 stars because at least the food was good but everything else was horrible. Our server was bad from the get go..(table of 5)some of us ordered enchiladas she never asked which sauce we wanted (we had to ask). Our food took forever to come out and it was luke warm when it did. You can tell the food had been sitting. Our plates were brought out one at a time and one of us didn't even get our food until we asked if that was our plate sitting under the lamp. The server said yes it was. We asked her to box it up since the rest of had already finished eating (we shared our food with the the person who never got his) we also asked for refills on our iced tea and water. NEVER got it. Right after we asked for refills she went to clean another table. She never checked on us. We asked for the tab which then took another 10 minutes. Another family was there and ended up walking out before the food even came. My husband used to be a server and always says you never know what's going on with a person or what kind of day they are having but even this is ridiculous. Don't bother going there. The service was atrocious. We had to wait almost an hoir to get the food, even though the restaurant was half empty. Even getting a beer took half an hour. We never got the glasses we requested. Twice. The food was mediocre at best. We will not go back. read more

Tried this place last week on a trip to Depoe Bay as a stop for a late lunch. Very happy with everything. The salsa was amazing nice and hot! Waitstaff was also great. I had the Pollo Diabla and it was really good hot and spicy in the best sense of those words. The black beans had a nice spice to them as well. It is worth the drive into the city center to grab a bite here. read more
