A friend whose family is Oaxacan and from the area brought me here, saying it's her fave local spot for authentic Oaxacan food. I love a flor de calabaza taco/quesadilla/anything I can get my hands on, but it's hard to find most places. So, upon seeing that I could get a flor de calabaza quesadilla here, I took that opportunity up (alongside a delightful hibiscus agua). That quesadilla is one of the best I've ever had. The Oaxacan style tortillas are a bit thicker than what someone thinks of if they aren't Oaxacan, but whoooooosh. They are huge and delicious! I wish that I had room to try more, because they had so much good stuff that I wanted to try. Definitely recommend adding their salsa to it! Of note, this place caters to locals and to Spanish-speakers (as it rightfully should, especially given the area). If you feel that there's a level of rudeness/briskness - it's probably a language and a cultural barrier. We had great service and no problems with the staff. However, it's apparent that English was many of their second (and maybe even more) languages. When that's evident, one should be patient and not expect for them to talk to you a ton - especially if you're rude and/or racist toward them. Food is very authentic - we ordered breakfast burrito & enchiladas. Servers couldn't speak English but we did lot of finger pointing on the menu and ordered easily. Burrito was enormous & delicious. Enchiladas were delightful with tons of gooey cheese. We enjoyed our authentic breakfast. It's a friendly establishments but hole in the wall type of a place. Bravo! This was exactly what I wanted 100% authentic Mexican foods. Think the tortillas are house made because these where the softest warmed up tortillas I have had hands down. Had 4 tacos two pastor and two asada those filled the tank. Read some of the yelp reviews before choosing this place for lunch on a work day and I didn't think the staff was rude as much as folks lead on, I actually think it's the language barrier but my order was correct and foods where hot and delicious. read more

Husband wanted to check out Woodburn and just eat at any hole-in-the-wall. We went on a rainy day. Customers didn't social distance well enough, as they were busy and the place is small. Anyway, we finally got our food after about a half hour wait. And that's fine. If a place is busy, I expect they are popular for a reason. We wanted to eat picnic style but it was raining like crazy, so we sat in our car and ate. I scarfed my food down after the first bite. It was sooooo good. This is just a small family owned Mexican restaurant. They may not be as fancy or as popular as other Portland Mexican restaurants, however, ohhh boyyy they are delicious! Hands-down the best Mexican food in the Willamette Valley. Try the quesadillas with the homemade corn tortillas. Their asada is well seasoned and hardly any fat which asada sometimes has. I haven't explored their entire menu but their tacos, quesadillas, and burritos are the best. read more

My family usually rates Mexican restaurants by the type of cheese they use in their enchiladas, and these people use mostly the traditional cheeses instead of cheddar, so I came here while waiting on my friend. I wanted to eat food from Oaxaca for a very long time and I couldn't find a place, we were at Woodburn and saw the sign that said "antojitos oaxaqueños" and immediately decided to stop by, the first impression wasn't very good, the place was small, kind of dark, and some loud music in the back, apparently it's like a bar and they have karaoke, but I didn't go back there, and maybe if it wasn't because I really wanted to eat this type of food, I would just walk out but we decided to try the food. I order a clayuda or tlayuda and my husband order a mole oaxaqueño, our kids order a shrimp soup and carnitas tacos, to drink we order micheladas with tecate beer, omg! We were so glad we stayed, the food was delicious! Delicious! Delicious! Home made tortillas, great portions, great prices, service was great, so all the 4 stars are for the food and service and not for the ambience. Service was shotty. Waitress was brisk and unfriendly. Not very accommodating. Did not serve guacamole but they did have avocados, what!?? Ony had one type of salsa, medium, and watery. Enchiladas were the size of a rolled up taquito. The refried beans were watery, ugh. The photos on their listing we're very misleading.
