Salsa is good but on the bland side. My husband loved his beef chimi. I had chicken and beef enchiladas. Both very good. I especially loved the shredded chicken. Service was on slow side but that could be bc of the holiday. Friendly though and our order was correct. Just lots of carry out orders. (Good sign!) read more

Food was really good. I had the fajitas trio and the wife had Carne asada. Wasn't busy and our server was very nice. We were surprised with the fresh hot tortilla chips and the mild salsa. We usually get these hard chips and really spicy salsa at our local Mexican restaurant. We will make the extra 20min drive when we have a taste for Mexican. Definitely worth the trip. This is the best Mexican restaurant in Moore county. I've been going there once a week for a decade. The quesadillas Jalisco are amazing.

Popped in for a quick lunch and was unsure what to expect as I am pretty picky with my Mexican food! It was actually pretty good! I got their lunch special steak quesadilla and it was really yummy, the tortilla was crispy and all! I just wish it was precut into slices. Back in North Carolina this week so met up with the fam for lunch at Casa Mexicana. This place has been around for years now and is a great spot to grab a cheap but tasty lunch. Prices can't be beat. And the quality of the food is always solid. Quick service. Very friendly, family-run staff. I got the Steak Burrito on the lunch menu which came with rice and refried beans. Portions were perfect for lunch and it tasted great. Someone in my group got 3 hard shell tacos and enjoyed them as well. Can't recommend this place enough. Like most Mexican restaurants, complimentary chips and salsa are provided. Sadly I forgot to take pictures like usually because everything looked good and I tore through my food!! read more

I just moved to North Carolina and decided to try this Restaurant on Cinco De Mayo. As you could imagine it was very busy, so I gave them a break. I came back with friends to give it another go. The waiter started off being extremely rude because we weren't ready to order. Then I ordered two hard tacos and instead of rice and beans I opted for a side salad with ranch dressing. My food came and the taco were like the box kind you get from the grocery store and my salad was shredded lettuce with guacamole and sour cream as the dressing. I asked for water and he brought it with the bill. I asked another waiter if I could talk to the manager. I told the manager the story and his response was "next time you come ask for a different waiter." I told him there won't be a next time! That was the most unprofessional response he could of given me. I demanded a refund, so he voided the check. I usually don't complain, but the whole experience was beyond unexceptionable! read more

Ordered take out last Friday night, was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. I arrived 25 minutes later and they couldn't find my order. Waitstaff seemed overwhelmed by the crowd and somewhat disorganized. After a 10 minute wait, our order was "discovered" ..as the man behind the bar told me. Unfortunately it was not worth the wait....the fried chimichanga was drenched in sour cream and guacamole, making it a soggy, inedible mess. The enchiladas were bland. So disappointed as this was our go-to Mexican when we lived here a few years ago. I hope this was a one-off situation due to a busy evening, but we likely won't return. read more

Our party of four visited this restaurant for the first time. Here's what we liked - Our server was very welcoming and her timeliness and attention to our table was spot on (e.g. offering drinks, bringing chips and salsa, checking in with us etc..) the restaurant decor is festive and clean as a whistle. We liked the "feel" of this restaurant. To top it off the beer was ice cold and the frozen margaritas didn't skimp on the alcohol. What we didn't like was the very obvious lack of seasoning to the food we ordered. We ordered a range of items from the menu. We started with guacamole to go with the chips and salsa, and then ordered Pollo con Crema, Garlic Shrimp, Ceviche Tostadas and a Poblano con Queso. I have no idea what the "guacamole" they brought to our table was supposed to be, but it was likely that they'd pureed guacamole and added something to stretch it out, maybe cream or something. At any rate It was utterly tasteless and we left it uneaten. The salsa was thin--almost beverage like--and tasteless as well. When the entrees came, we all all tucked in and noticed immediately that each of our entrees were, simply put, completely unseasoned. The food was hot, and it was late so we did what we could, but all four of us said that we probably wouldn't do this again. What our overarching question is, how is it that you can get everything else right, but fail where the rubber meets the road? Are these products not taste tested by the kitchen leadership? So that's the crux of it. Everything else at Casa Mexicana 2 was on the money, but the lack of seasoning to your products won't bring us back for a repeat business read more

Visited here for lunch today. I'm not familiar with what the COVID restrictions are supposed to be here, but clearly there are no restrictions being enforced. Customer came without masks. Staff wore masks but below their noses. The food service was slow, but delicious once it came out. Chips and salsa were plentiful and wait staff was fairly attentive. We had 10 people after church Me and my wife waited along time to order our food it wasn't to busy when we got there it took for ever to get somebody to wait on us when they finally came back with our food it was room temperature at best and I ordered ACP chicken it only had a hand full of rice to start with rice is cheep and my wife ordered chicken fajitas it had so much fajitas spice on it she couldn't eat it and it was over cooked,her food was room temperature as well . We asked the staff to Refill everyone's drinks 4 times before they finally fill them up ,I tried to tell the waiter about the food he didn't care, I went to the manager and she asked how was our food I told her it was room temperature and all she said is sorry we didn't eat much of the food at all , couldn't get anyone to help replace the food. They just don't care all they wanted to do is get our money. We will never go back ,I wouldn't advise everyone to eat there.there are better places to eat in town. read more

I've always been partial to the small, Southern Mexican food restaurant. You know the deal when you walk in - ground beef in everything, savory but not spicy sauce, and a billion combination plates to choose from. Craving Mexican while we were visiting Pinehurst, we stopped into Casa Mexicana which we've driven by a million times. They've really brought the spirit of Mexico to the decor with bright colors, Spanish tile, and appropriate music. I ordered the enchilada combo plate and was met with decent but not outstanding enchiladas with chicken, beef and cheese. If I was grading on just the food, and comparing to my native San Diegan Mexican cuisine, this would be a 1 or 2 star outfit. But when you're in the South, you adjust expectations I've learned. And my meal was $5.95 for dinner. So three stars it is. I should note that we got an entire pitcher of strong margaritas for $16. That's about what one margarita will cost at La Puerta in San Diego. Great value all around. We will be back when the hankering for Mexican/tequila hits us while visiting family in Pinehurst. read more

Unsure why all of these other ratings are calling the food "average". This food is superb Southern TexMex. Huge plates of saucy, savory goodness for a more than reasonable price. Though I'm a vegetarian and have never tasted any of the meat dishes, this is my absolute favorite restaurant in Southern Pines. The vegetarian menu is fantastic; from burritos to enchiladas, chalupas to quesadillas, it's packed. Normally, us vegetarians get a rude awakening with an extremely limited menu, but here, almost anything can be made sin carne. The endless free chips are perfect, though I would call for a spicier salsa, and the decor is surprisingly charming and lovely. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and the waitstaff are extremely friendly. The Torres family, who own this restaurant, are some of the nicest, most amazing people I've ever met. They take the time to talk to their guests and are always enthusiastic about sharing their culture. 10/10 read more

I wanted to love this place. The lady who took care of our table was a sweetheart and checked on us regularly. However, we found the food to be completely tasteless. I even asked for their hot sauce on the side, and it was lacking as well. Honestly I'd never been to a Mexican restaurant that served bland food, so I thought it was just us. First of all - map is wrong to locate this on Google or Yelp. It is in same parking lot as Dairy Queen, one block from Felton Capel Ln & W Morganton Rd. That being said, it was really good! We are in town for the week and had gone to another local Mexican restaurant several days ago. The atmosphere was really cute and set the theme. (Although a few carefully placed rustic dimly lit chandeliers down the center of dining room might brighten the ceiling. But, this is not a decorating website!) Extensive menu with great prices -- under $8 for most dinners, even if you elect to add rice or beans, which is not included in all entrees. I had chicken burrito which seemed to be all white meat and was very moist. Not overly loaded with sauces and cheeses. Rice wasn't dry and had a mild taste. Diet cokes were great tasting and refills were brought in a timely manner without even asking. Service was very pleasant, welcoming, friendly and efficient! The staff alone set them apart from San Filepes. Really nice and spoke some Spanish to us which added to atmosphere. So--- a little tricky to locate (look for steeple like green roof)-- but, well worth a few u-turns! read more

Worst Mexican experience in years. My wife ordered a quesadilla which tasted fine but apparently they gave her two, not one. The two quesadillas were about the size of one at any other restaurant. Of course, we didn't know that they gave her two until we got the bill. My meal was worse. I ordered two fish tacos. The Casa Mexicana's idea of a fish taco is a piece of fish in a soft tortilla with an unrecognizable assortment of condiments. The only thing crisp about this fish taco was the chips in the bowl next to the plate. When we paid the bill, $25.00, the person at the register asked how the meal was. Almost in unison we said "not impressed". The young lady stood there with a blank look on her face and started to process the bill. I said to her, " I guess you get that a lot if you are not interested in why we were not impressed." In an effort to recover she asked us, "What was wrong". Neither of us replied because you shouldn't have to force a restaurant employee to ask you why you had a bad experience. Two stars because the Chips were crisp.
