We got super lucky this week! After planning a fun evening of the drive through light display in Rhinebeck, our 3 generation family wanted to stop for cocktails and apps. Imagine our surprise that our intended eatery was closed (not that their website stated it) and our second choice was closing for the night (at 8 pm on a Saturday night!) Hugely disappointed, we stopped at the only place along our home area of Route 52 that had lights on. Not only were they opened, but enthusiastically greeted us and promptly brought over menus. The high top tables were excellent for our family member with the cane and the other (me) with a broken leg. The place was decorated for the season, and combined with the colorful Mexican decor was especially festive. We are all a little picky about our drinks, but the bartender happily filled our requests without hesitation. An excellent espresso martini was enjoyed, actually two, by me, and my family loved their drinks as well. We settled on the sampler platter which our waitress assured us would be plenty. She could have easily pressured us to order more, but was honest, professional, polite and friendly. We also enjoyed the chips and salsa. Highly recommend you stopping in, whether it's family dinner or casual date night. PS: it's a a fun family joke that I HATE when servers use the term "No problem". The service is fast, friendly, and helpful. There is ample parking, but most importantly, the place is where you can chill on a hot summer day. The decor is simple with some booth seating. However, the air conditioning or lower temperatures make this a safe haven for escape with agua frescas, ranging from Maracuya (passion fruit) to pineapple. The sampler was a bit disappointing either way simple taquitos, mini-sopes, chicken wings, and quesadillas. The fish tacos seemed were crisp, but missing some salsa and lettuce to balance out all the fried food. My s/o and I stopped by here for a late lunch. The server/host was pleasant and friendly. He was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed such as cutlery, water and our beverages. It seemed like a slow point in the day with just us and two other customers and so he was the only one there serving everyone and mixing the drinks. The food was good! I enjoyed my flautas and my s/o enjoyed his tacos birria. We really liked how the place was decorated with a lot of colorful art pieces. I haven't had a bad meal here! The restaurant is nicely decorated and we were waited in fairly efficiently until it came time to get the check. The margarita was delicious! I had two tacos and a side of beans and rice. The chicken tinga tacos were a little salty but I still enjoyed it. They were quick to serve us chips and salsa when we arrived. I loved that the waitress was very nice to my party and constantly checked on us. The decor of the restaurant felt very immersive, and had a personality. The food was good and there is pretty much unlimited tortillas as appetizers. The wings were better than expected as I decided to go fancy and try out the unique guava flavored wings and the tacos were fantastic. Only thing is I felt the ranch sauce for the wings had been expired, left out too long, or just tasted very weird. My entire group tried and felt the same thing. This was my second time here and it was just as good as the first. We started with the nachos which was fresh and delicious. Then my daughter had an empanada and I had tacos, which were really good. On our way up to Albany, I got hungry and we stopped here for lunch. I didn't expect much but everything was great. They told us they were under new management and did not have a liquor license. Not a problem since we're driving. As we looked over the menu, we ordered guacamole. It was a huge bowl and really delicious. It was chunky with lots of lime. It was clearly made there. I went with the chicken mole. The waitress let me taste the mole first which was really nice. My friend had a steak salad. I liked the steak and ended up eating a lot of it. Once we were done, I didn't catch his name but the man in the kitchen offered to let us try the ceviche which I was saw on the board but never ordered. It was delicious too. It is a bar restaurant with a casual decor. We started our dinner with Margaritas. They were made from fresh ingredients and not the usual mix . The server brought the traditional chips and salsa to our table. The salsa was house made green . We ordered from the dinner menu. I had a polo poblano which is my go to dish when trying a new restaurant. The chicken was braised thigh and leg . It was braised in a rich , flavorful mole sauce . The chicken literally fell off the bone. I also ordered a side of plantains and guacamole. The plantain were sweet well made.Mildly sweet but nit sticky . The guacamole was fresh . My wife had a pork dish which was tender and loaded with flavor . The portions were filling. The wait staff were efficient, friendly and attentive to our needs. If we could double 5 stars for Octavio we would. We are from California LA area. We did a Google search 'restaurant near me.' Reading and looking at the food menu posted on Casa Mexico we decided to go. We made a BIG HIT!!! Their location was spot on. Walking into their establishment with their beautiful art work on the wall, wood decor and colorful finishes was WOW!!! Veggie tacos was so flavorful Chips and green chili salsa wanting more. Let's not forget my favorite Jamaica drink, we came back to order more. Lettuce taco, their chicken Tinga tacos, Bistec tacos, Pico De Gallo, Guacamole and sweet plantains was cooked to perfection. WOW! Great food!! Open only for a week as of today, I expected some "new restaurant issues". There were none. We did takeout so I can't comment on sit down service, but the person taking care of the to-go orders was great. We had Mulitas Al Pastor, Enchiladas Mexico, the Taco Salad and Street Corn. The ingredients are super fresh and the preparations were well balanced with the ingredients giving perfect layers of flavor. FYI, the salsa verde was super tasty and the "red sauce" (not sure what it's called) has a lot of heat. The surprising item was the refried beans. To me, these are usually an afterthought just thrown in to take up space on the plate. This was absolutely the best we've ever had. I can't wait to try other dishes at Casa Mexico!!! read more

This was my first visit to Casa Mexico, which I was exited for since I love Mexican food, especially locally. Inside is nice, definitely decor is geared towards a younger "nyc" type crowd. We were seated immediately, but soon forgotten about. No water, no chips - this was due to Casa Mexico being very under staffed. Our waitress was apologetic, but kept calling my 65 year old mother "hun" which she does not like! (Kind of rude if you ask me). Now on to the food... We started with Mexican street corn and guacamole. Street corn was delicious but extremely small portioned. Guacamole was not made to order... You can always tell when guac was made in bulk and stored in the fridge. It was ice cold and lacked flavor. Drinks were the house margarita and white sangria. Sangria was good, but the margarita was almost too salty to even drink. They would have been better off putting some of that salt into outer guac. Dinner for me was fajitas, one of my favorites... it was just ok at best. Steak lacked color and was lack luster. They did not serve enough tortillas with it, and did not come around to check on us in order for me to ask for more. Overall I would give Casa Mexico a 2.5 if allowed. Decor is nice, and it seemed clean. Drinks were ok, food was ok, service was I would have to say bad. I honestly do not think I would come back especially with such good Mexican spots such as Maya Cafe and Casa Vallarta available to us. However, if you are not looking to leave Hopewell hopefully my visit was just an off night for them. read more

Ate at Casa Mexico for the first time today. Food was all very good and presentation was very festive on Mexican pottery. Just took a chance on this place in a nearly deserted strip mall while in Hopewell Junction and it was fantastic! I'm picky about my Mexican food and this little place delivered on all fronts. Served salsa verde with their chips which was a refreshing change. Some interesting margaritas on the menu so I choose the tamarind one and it was one of the best margaritas I have ever had and I've had a lot. Then I ordered the tacos birria and they were flavorful and well balanced. Could have passed on the beans I requested to replace the plantains side but otherwise highly recommend and service was friendly with no rush to present the bill. read more

The chef in the kitchen makes some of the best mole I've had since visiting Oaxaca, Mexico. The variety of flavors are incredibly delicious, filled with unusual and traditional food choices.
