If are near, I.e Putnam or Dutchess county, or far, traveling east or west on I84, you must stop at El Mariachi. This restaurant has the authenticity of a true Mexican cafe in both coziness and cuisine. Truly, the staff smiles when you enter setting the tone for the most relaxing and enjoyable time. Starting with the home made salsa and warm tortilla chips through the generous portions of any entree, el Mariachi always scores a satisfying and delicious dining goallllllll! There's a back deck that catches the summer breezes and is fully insulated for the winter. It's also a great place for a birthday party or any occasion to bring friends together for great food, music and laughter. Their bar is stocked with both foreign and domestic beers and mixed drinks. Their nonalcoholic drinks are awesome as well. So, stop on by if you are in town or pop this in your GPS if you are on a trip. You will get "muy feliz" you did!

More than 20 years in the Hudson valley and this was the closest thing to remind me of true Mexican cuisine in the area.Great ambience, the atmosphere is friendly and comforting.Decent waiting time and not complaining because the food was phenomenal.Other restaurants in the are Usually don t have the enough supply or the options.im a very picky person and would say well money spent .happy holidays everyone!!

A MUST VISIT family-owned Mexican restaurant right off RT 84. You won't be disappointed! We were traveling and saw the excellent reviews on yelp and so happy we made the stop. What a sweet place with a relaxing ambiance, amazing food and the friendliest staff who greet you with a smile at the door. The Mexican fare is the best I remember having in the eastern states. I can't recall a better tasting salsa served with chips upon seating. We ordered the guacamole made fresh at the table, street corn and shrimp with the most amazingly delicious, savory tomatillo sauce served w rice and refried beans . It tasted like home cooking, only better. Yum! Homemade hot sauce was available, also delicious. The home made drinks -Jamaica and Tamarindo served in large colorful glasses were so delicious! We were impressed with the value for the quality and amount of food served. Manager shared they had been opened for a year and half. Wishing them all the very best success as it will definitely be on our travel list for returning!

However, I like their other food as well. I've had a great chimichanga and last time I was there, I had some chicken nachos that were served on top of flour tortillas as the nacho rather than corn tortilla chips. It was very good. They have outdoor seating in nice weather and you can get a nice view of their back yard...if you're up high enough you can see a bit of the nearby lake. Service is always friendly and efficient. Even when the parking lot looks full, we've never had trouble getting a table. I think they have a good setup here...nice location, great food, reasonable prices and nice service. It isn't the fanciest place in town but it's great in my book.

Last night Saturday May 2, 2026 we planned a little party to celebrate the birthdays of two of my…read moresons. We had a reservation. Started out well, the server took drink orders, drinks were brought and we ordered the tableside guacamole for the table. The guacamole was made and two of the stone bowls were left. We had finished the chips that come with salsa when you're first seated. We asked the young man who made the guac for chips and small plates. Those never arrived. About 10 minutes later the waiter showed up to take orders and we reminded him that we were still waiting on plates n chips. We also ordered our meals. The small plates arrived a short while later, but not the chips. By this time we were ready for another round of drinks - Unfortunately the waiter (and other staff were nowhere in site). Maybe 10 minutes later the food arrived, we reminded the waiter that the chips never came, asked for salt n pepper that wasn't on the table and ordered another round of drinks. The chips never came, the drinks took about 15 minutes to arrive and 1 of the kids plates never came. We reminded the drink runner and he disappeared. 10 minutes went by and I finally went and found our server hanging out in a hallway outside the kitchen doors with other staff. The kids plate finally arrived along with the long awaited chips. We had 3 young ones with us who are normally great in a restaurant, that had begun getting restless because of the delays in being served. Well, the birthday honorees decided that ordering desert to celebrate their birthdays would prolong the lousy service agony to an unacceptable level. So, I went and tracked down the MIA server again, now hanging out by the hostess stand and asked for the check. I handed him my card immediately without reviewing the bill for fear that he'd disappear for another 15 minutes. He brought back the check for signature. I reviewed the bill which was correct. At this point, where I normally leave a cash tip 25% - 30% depending on the service, I did something I never do. I wrote in a 10% tip (not deserved) on the card and wrote a Note: Sorry but the service tonight was absolutely horrible. AITA - What would you have done? This Server ruined our celebration.

Imagine our surprise that our intended eatery was closed (not that their website stated it) and our second choice was closing for the night (at 8 pm on a Saturday night!) Hugely disappointed, we stopped at the only place along our home area of Route 52 that had lights on. Not only were they opened, but enthusiastically greeted us and promptly brought over menus. The high top tables were excellent for our family member with the cane and the other (me) with a broken leg. The place was decorated for the season, and combined with the colorful Mexican decor was especially festive. We are all a little picky about our drinks, but the bartender happily filled our requests without hesitation. An excellent espresso martini was enjoyed, actually two, by me, and my family loved their drinks as well. We settled on the sampler platter which our waitress assured us would be plenty. She could have easily pressured us to order more, but was honest, professional, polite and friendly. We also enjoyed the chips and salsa. Highly recommend you stopping in, whether it's family dinner or casual date night. PS: it's a a fun family joke that I HATE when servers use the term "No problem". I mean; why WOULD asking for a glass of water be a problem? Our fabulous server frequently acknowledged our requests without hesitation and a cheerful "Of Course!" It left me giddy

2025 Update:…read more Service (5): Absolutely lovely. The person womanning the register, dining room and phone lines was killing it and so charming + friendly all around despite wearing her many hats. We had a takeout order that was timed exactly as she said it would be. Takeout Packaging (1): This is the type of takeout packaging that makes me self flagellate and resolve never to do this again.... Most items came in polystyrene -- e.g. non recyclable, non compostable styrofoam. And each of the sopes we received in our order (three per order) came packaged separately in small containers, which was wildly inefficient. (Why not have all three sopes in an order come in a single container at least?) Some of the order was packaged in aluminum and clear plastic containers, which usually recycle if clean. Food (3): Let's start with the good: The kitchen still uses beautiful, ripe avocados. And stewed animal proteins were commendably slow cooked and tender. But the "sopes" were made with very thick cut, flat, hard, dry, packaged tortillas, not the boat-like kind with a ridge, shaped by hand from masa, freshly fried. We are spoiled by our access to the latter, so Tio's current version was quite disappointing. In years past, I remember the sopes being made from masa harina and griddled at least, if not deep fried, not just reheated from a package. Sauces used for enchiladas and other dishes were quite clearly straight from a can or a jar. Food was serviceable for our hurried meal, but not something we feel like we need to do again, especially given how far Latin and South American cuisines have come in these parts over the last 10+ years. There are inflationary pressures everywhere, and Tio's portion sizes remain enormous, so it makes sense that quality would have to concede some ground. It has clearly done so since our last try. If something has to give, my personal druthers would be for portion sizes to be smaller and/or prices to reflect inflation, rather than experience this kind of reduction in quality. This kitchen has the ability to do so much better.
