Slow service! Even for not being busy at all. And there price in food is insane for being very mediocre. Not impressed.

As Mexican fare goes, this is not bad. Not as noisy as some eatery's in Hartsville. Good staff, fair prices. We wil, go back.

My cousin and I recently moved here, and this was the very first restaurant we tried. Within the…read morepast two weeks, we've already been back around five or six times, which honestly says everything. First and foremost, the staff here is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their menu is HUGE, with so many different options, and they were very patient helping us navigate through it and figure out what we were craving. They genuinely helped guide us toward different sections of the menu based on what sounded good to us. The portions are amazing for the price. Everything is very affordable, especially considering how much food you get. My cousin ordered fajitas, I ordered carne guisada, and we've continued trying different dishes every time we go because the menu is so extensive. One thing that really stood out to me was how attentive they are. One time, I ordered a dish with ground beef that I personally didn't finish because where I'm from, we prepare that style of meat differently. When they noticed, they kindly asked if I didn't like it. I explained honestly that it just wasn't what I was used to, and they were extremely understanding and apologetic, even though it simply came down to different regional cooking styles. I appreciated that they cared enough to ask. The next time I went, I ordered burritos covered in lettuce, sour cream, and sauce. They actually remembered that I hadn't loved the ground beef before and suggested I try a different meat instead. They gave me one chicken and one beef burrito with the meat they recommended, and I absolutely LOVED it. It was so good that I literally came back the next day and ordered the same burritos again, this time both with the beef they had suggested. Another small thing that meant a lot to me: I gifted them a Mexican peso bill and asked if they'd actually put it up somewhere in the restaurant. They said yes, and they really did! This has become one of those places that feels comforting and familiar very quickly. I've already recommended it at my job site and invited friends to eat here with me. Everyone who has gone has been thrilled with the experience ranging from the staff, the cleanliness, the flavor, the huge portions, and the affordable prices. You can tell the people here genuinely care about their customers, and that's what keeps bringing us back.

Over the years, I've eaten inside many times and also called in takeout orders. Our orders have always been correct, even when we've added or left out ingredients, and we've never had to wait long for food or drinks. The portions are large for the prices, and you can't beat the prices. Of course, I am used to Charleston pricing which is generally more expensive than the Pee Dee. The shrimp taco salad is a great deal at around $10. It had the perfect balance of warm ingredients like shrimp, queso, and grilled vegetables, along with chilled ingredients like lettuce and tomatoes. I also love the crispy taco shell "bowl". Although it is a salad, it's certainly not healthy, but the vegetables give me a LITTLE less guilt. My husband generally orders "A little of everything", which is two plates of various items. He has never been disappointed in anything. Personally, the hot salsa is the perfect amount of spice for me and not super spicy. I usually don't eat the mild salsa, as it has zero heat. I'll keep visiting Zapata's when I visit my in-laws in Hartsville.

You can be sure to find something for everyone here. The food is delicious- I lean towards the enchiladas and burritos- but they have lots of other options, tacos, quesadillas, fajitas, steak, chicken , seafood and vegetarian. The decor is typical Mexican Cantina style with tables and booths. The service is always great! They have a full bar - so grab a margarita!! The beers are huge and ice cold ! Chips and salsa is complimentary on arrival and serves with warm chips very tasty salsas - one hot and one mild ! I have made this place my must stop place when traveling to the beach or south. They also have another location in Myrtle Beach if that is your destination! I had the new menu item Chef Speciality Burrito Supreme - one chicken and bean burrito and one beef and bean burrito - topped with a flavorful creamy tomato sauce , melted cheese - lettuce , tomato and more shredded cheese and a dollop of sour cream on top ! Scrumptious!! Portion sizes are generous! Ask about happy hour drink specials - 4 $ house margaritas!! Very good ! Don't pass this place by- it's worth a stop lunch or dinner! Great prices too!!

When I received my order, and started eating I was a bit disappointed. The ribeye was very over cooked, tough, and tasteless. The peppers and onions it came with along with the rice and beans were decent enough, but did not exceed expectations. The salsa was also very mild and watery.

Looking for good, affordable Mexican food in Lancaster? I'd choose this place over nearby…read moreMariachi's any day. Why? The prices are comparably better, the staff is friendly, and the food feels a lot lighter on my stomach than the brick that Mariachi's always seems to deliver. The people that work here are very friendly. My dad goes weekly, sometimes with a friend, and they ALWAYS remember them as well as what they order! Not all of them speak the clearest English, though, but I deem that a seal of authenticity! Don't see exactly what you want on the menu? Ask for it! I usually get a single chicken quesadilla with rice. The plate is always completely full and steaming hot when it reaches me; it's just the right amount of food. And for how much? Something like $4. You can't beat that! My dad usually gets the buffet, which has a bunch of different options. He and his friend even like their wings, which is surprising for a Mexican restaurant. The buffet also comes with a dessert item - sopapilla, a fried tortilla with cinnamon sugar, with optional honey to drizzle on top. If you ask, they will put a scoop of vanilla ice cream to finish it off! :) Their complimentary salsa is DELICIOUS, made fresh, and can vary in spiciness depending on the batch that day. The chips that come along with them are light and crispy. Best ones I've ever had. Overall, if you're a Lancaster resident, I'd recommend you give this place a try. You may just become a regular! EDIT: And to address the naysayers - let's remember here that we're talking about cheap Mexican food in Lancaster, SC. You're not going to get 5-star quality, but that doesn't mean it isn't tasty!
