The selection of tacos are good but no chile verde or chile Colorado. Ordered the cheesy birrias which were good. Also ordered a glass of red wine and about a half a glass of house arrived ($8). TVs all around. Tonight's offering was some young men playing an electronic card game. Whatever. This restaurant was able to accommodate our large party late night after our softball tournament. We were seated quickly and the staff was friendly. With almost 30 people, there were very few issues. The salsa that came with the chips was very good. Our food was just ok. My daughter and I both ordered the Oaxaca. It's chicken tamales with toppings and a side of Mexican rice. The masa and toppings were good but the chicken was pretty dry. It was very warm but the rice that came with it was barely warm at all. My husband ordered the Supreme mix enchiladas which were 4 different types of enchiladas. He said they were just ok as well. He did enjoy his drink, The Don top shelf margarita. We had a great meal here!! The food was very nice. We most enjoyed the white queso dip. Wow!! It's one of the best I've had. The Americano taco was pretty good. Great crunch. The beef was a little dull. We had the ultimate enchiladas plate the chicken, cheese/bean and Birria were all great. Again the ground beef lacked some pizzazz. The atmosphere here is nice. We've been somewhat frequent guests. Recently have had a few not great meals. Sides are almost always lukewarm at best. Yesterday, I had cold rice and a very watery drink. My husband's entire plate was lukewarm. My entree was the only hot dish. Chips were cold and stale. We probably won't go back. It's a shame, we've enjoyed talking with the servers. read more

Absolutely DELICIOUS! We went on Sunday for their brunch and it was phenomenal! My fiancé got the aguachiles and they were so good. I'd order them next time! I got the avocado toast and they made it with such a twist, I was in LOVE! It was on like French toast bread and topped with eggs. It was soooooo good. My friend Bella got the pina colada French toast and man... that was really good, too! It was all fresh and it looked so beautiful when it came out. The presentation, the taste, the service, everything was amazing! I will definitely be coming back next weekend and you should too!!!! We also got the margarita flight to share and whoooooo! Happened to find this restaurant after a trip to Shield's...super-amazing table-side fresh made guacamole!! There was enough for 4 people (which we didn't have) so we ate as much as we possibly could! Our meal was just as delicious! The restaurant itself was pretty quiet at the time we were there so service was very timely! The decor was bright and festive looking, it's been awhile since our visit and we couldn't find the restaurant our next trip...so I hope I remember the decor correct! Love the tall ceilings, open concept and the overall look of the place. I've been twice and the margaritas are very good. The service was prompt and the servers were professional. The shrimp and scallops plate I would not recommend as it was almost cold and the most expensive item. But the steak plate was good. I honestly hate having to leave a 1* review for any business I have visited, but this adventure my fiancé and I went on was horrific. I knew this was not the best Mexican eatery in Springfield but beyond bad was an understatement. Let's start off with the standard chips and salsa that were brought to the table. The chips were rock hard and stale. The salsa had little to no flavor and yet was overly spicy for a table salsa; we asked for zero refills and left all but 5 chips in the basket. Moving on to our entrees; her one taco was so over cooked to the point she just scooped out the meat and threw the shell aside. I ordered three street tacos with black beans and rice; all three were disgusting in different ways. The chorizo was a greasy, sloppy mess. The al pastor was dry and chewy. The Baja fish (by far the worst) was fried so hard it was not even edible. I never leave a taco behind...the fish was grey in color and tasted off, no thanks! Ohh and by the way, the black beans were cold and our server did not bring my rice. I instantly asked him if he was coming back with it, wherein he responds, "It does not come with rice". After a few minutes here he comes back out with rice and tells me it actually does (don't worry I was already checking the menu to prove I read it correctly). Finally, let's talk about the atmosphere; we chose outside patio (could have done inside, patio, or outside under the tent). When I first sat down and saw they had a table-side guacamole cart I was stoked...then we witnessed pure shenanigans. The waitress left the cart outside after serving another table and the birds that had built nests under the patio were flying down and walking over the fresh avocados and other extras on the cart!! The only positive note; I had an excellent mojito and I saw many other fabulous looking drinks. If you want to hop in for drinks and to hang out, sure, maybe...otherwise, hard pass! read more

This place was very close to our hotel. We had a big group and they had plenty of room on the patio for us. The ladies all placed their drink orders and it took a very long time to get them. Us guys made the right move and went to the bar and grabbed ours. This place was very expensive. My round of 4 drafts for the guys ended up $63 after tax and tip. Meal for my wife and two kids was $130. That's pretty steep for Mexican food. Service was very slow for not seemingly being busy. The bills were almost all wrong. The several waiters that had our tables seemed lost and had trouble understanding us. Disappointing visit in so many respects! First, the atmosphere in the new location is stark and very noisy. It was hard to have a conversation, even in a booth. Second, the service was less than mediocre. Our server took our drink order, which was fine. We weren't ready to order entrees, but wanted to order guacamole. She said, "No more guacamole." How do you not have guacamole at 5:45 on a Saturday evening? So, imagine our surprise to see the table side guacamole cart in another area of the restaurant as we were leaving! So, did she not know how to prepare it, or did she not want to do it or what??? So, that was a disappointment, as the table side guacamole was a primary reason we came. While waiting for our food to arrive, we needed additional salsa. (Their servings of salsa are small--one bowl is not satisfactory for 4 people.). Our server never came back to the table after taking our order and we couldn't get the attention of any other servers. So, we had chips but no salsa. The food was descent, but nothing spectacular. Portions were fine. As we proceeded with our meal, the server never offered additional drinks and didn't inquire about the quality of our food and never asked about dessert or if we wanted anything else. She just brought the checks and waited there until we paid them. We love Mexican restaurants and when Casa Real was on North Grand we always enjoyed it. Not anymore. What started as a convenient stop to eat while my car charged nearby ended up being one of the best meals during our recent road trip! The service was fabulous! Jessica was our server and her energy was so great really made our whole group feel good. It was contagious. We loved that the restaurant has a kids menu that (that our kids liked!) and delicious food for the adults. Nothing about this place was good. Went there on Mother's Day to have a nice meal. Service was slow, had to ask for refills and service. Food arrived with no flavor and not as pictured. Steak was fatty, chicken was dry, beer tasted sour. The restaurant has a leak from the ceiling from the front door and approximately 20 feet into the seating. The bathrooms needed serious attention. The service we decided to enjoy was a full dinner and once seated they were prompt on getting us water, drinks and soda! The margaritas came in large pitchers which made group sharing amazing!!! The chips and salsa were flowing and honestly so fresh! Once we saw part of our group order the cheese dip, we ordered it as well! It was DELICIOUS! We may have found our new go-to for Mexican in Springfield! Casa Real offers a great dining experience, good service and a delicious selection of Mexican food. The building is actually quite beautiful inside with various pieces of artwork including colorful glass bowls and beautiful portraits. We stopped in for lunch on a weekday and ordered off the lunch specials menu. I knew we were going to have a good dining experience when our waiter brought out chips and salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa just flavorful enough. My husband ordered the Beef burrito and chicken enchilada. The ground beef was savory, and the chicken tender. I on the other hand ordered the fajitas. The peppers and onions were cooked to perfection and spiced exquisitely. The meat was delicious and juicy. It was served with a side of beans, rice, and sour cream. Nothing outstanding, but it was sufficient. They also offer outdoor seating, although the issue is quite beautiful so you can't go wrong. We thought we'd try their new location, with a party of four. The youngest of us is 55. Seating went quickly. First noticeable thing is it was LOUD at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.. The music was loud and all the decor is visually appealing, the din of conversations throughout the building reminded me of eating in a facility or youth camp dining area. It was difficult to hear the person across from me. Service was stressed. I could not tell if they were under staffed, but it felt that way. Food took about 20 minutes to be delivered after being ordered and one meal was served without two ingredients which were standard. Wait staff was difficult to find; not sure if they were on a smoke/bathroom break or what. Afterwards we sat there far too long with empty plates on the table and wait staff had to be asked to clear the table. They carried away the first load and acted like they were done leaving the table full of empty glasses. About 5 minutes later a manager passed by and was more than eagerly willing to clear the rest of our table for us so we could put our gift sacks on the table. You can tell the place is new. If they don't get the wait staff together, they are going to have trouble. It was as if the waitress was assigned tables in different areas of the building. Food was pretty good, (despite forgetting the beans and jalapeños on the nachos) but not enough to get me to want to comeback with it being that noisy and the inattentive service. ========== Update sept 2016: I returned, but should have stuck to my guns abt not returning.
