I have kept two boat at Casa Rio over the last ten years and must say this little full service Marina is a total jewel. I tell folks Casa Rio is $2000.00 south of Annapolis. Full haul out facilities with two travel lifts, lift bay, as well as boat ramp. Glass and mechanical techs on site. Proximity to mid-Chesapeake Bay is fantastic.

I went searching for marina's on the south river last year towards the end of the season. I was…read morevery turned off by the extremes I found. Either they were huge, expensive-"corporate"-feeling marinas which had good amenities etc, or they were dumpy boat yards full of old, neglected boats. Then I came upon Oak Grove. It's in a perfect location for boating the South River. I was greeted by the owner when I went to inquire about pricing. He was very laid back and friendly and quoted very reasonable rates for the various options. Boatel, Wet Slips and lift Slips. The marina has been family owned for a long time and it shows. The owner and staff have been extremely patient with my questions. What was important to me in a Marina? A great location easy to get to on/off route 50, plenty of stores, restaurants in the area, friendly, chill staff, and a mechanic on site. They had all that. Edgewater is a great small town next door to Annapolis with everything you could need. You can be at several great little restaurants/tiki bars on the water in minutes. When I upgraded my boat this season, the marina sold me on a lift slip at a reasonable rate. I told them when the new boat would be arriving and they had the slip ready to go and adjusted as promised. When selling my old boat, they even agreed to allow me to keep it in a wet slip temporarily for sea trials. This was generous and much appreciated. I sold the old boat quickly thanks to the marina's flexibility. The marina has been gradually updating some of it's piers and keeps everything well maintained. Oak Grove is situated facing the river at sunset which blows me away on a regular basis. It has clean bathrooms, ice for purchase on site, and a fuel dock and pump-out with decent prices. Everything needed for boating. It doesn't have a swimming pool, spa, etc. If I want a load of amenities, I'll go to a resort. I go here so I can get the boat in the water fast and without hassle. It's nice knowing I can deal with any issues immediately thanks to the responsive, easy-going staff.

As a seasoned boater it is my advise to stay away from this marina. The docks are falling…read moreapart, missing boards, splintered etc. Furthermore, the slips are small with poor hardware or cleats for securing boat. Staff are generally nice but marina is very run down.

We selected Rhode River Marina to make an extensive list of purchase survey and maintenance repairs…read moreafter their very accommodating ability to meet a survey date with two surveyors, a dealer/Broker and owner's busy schedules. Their knowledge, opinions, recommendations, and perseverance during the repair process proved to be the right choice for us in coordinating efforts and paperwork between the Broker, Insurance Company, and schedules affected by poor 2013 spring weather and additional workloads put on the Rhode River staff with a concurrent dock enhancement project which could have easily taken away much more time which was dedicate to our boat. We believe that we able to achieve a solid starting point and understanding of the condition of all our Island Pilot's systems due to the efforts of Brian and his staff. If you are looking for a service marina that will treat you on a first name basis, has flexibility to your needs, and is perseverate at overcoming challenges we would very much recommend Rhode River Marina in your list of places to check out.

The owner of this Marina Brian Connor is totally irrational and has absolutely no people skills. I…read morehad a survey done on a boat I purchased there last year and the related charges were ridiculous just to pull the boat out for the survey. Because of those bloated survey charges I decided to limit the repairs I wanted them to do because I knew they would rape me and sure enough they did exactly that. They did a bunch of repairs that I did not want and charged me every little nickel and dime thing imaginable. I sent the owner Brian a copy of the exact email I previously sent to his wife that stated I only wanted whatever safety related repairs needed to safely make the long ocean trip back to NY from Maryland, not the original work order I had submitted before I knew how ridiculous their charges are. Brian went nuts on the phone and added some insulting and uncalled for things about New Yorkers like me and such. I was told he was going to lock the boat up so I could not come take it, like I was gonna come steal it or something? Totally ridiculous to think that is remotely possible and it showed his level of ignorance. What the hell does a country geek like him know about NY? Nothing I can assure you. I have lived in Brooklyn and NYC my entire life and nobody in NY would ever pull the stunt he pulled and get away with it. I would have taken him to court over the extra charges and won easily if he wasn't so far away. I have documented emails as evidence of exactly what I wanted them to do and what I did not want them to do. They did a bunch of non safety related work I did not want and charged me out the ass for it. And when I proved it to Brian he accused me of doctoring the emails and threatened me to haul the boat out and charge me again for that too. I had a repair and service bill for over $10,000 and he would not make any adjustments to it for work I clearly did not want. I paid the bill because I could and a long distance court battle was not worth it. I paid for the boat in cash also I did not take a loan you dopey redneck. I was not trying to pull any NY bullshit as Brian would say. Nobody in NY would pull the bullshit Brian and his half ass office manager wife did I guarantee you that. Do not give this overpriced family Marina a go ahead on anything you don't want to get highly overcharged for. I could have had my local marina in Long Island do a better job for far less. Guaranteed!! Very glad I never have to deal with him and his kind ever again.
