    The Angry Chimi

I have been to Casa Rio many times now and always enjoy my experience. The decor is pretty typical Mexican restaurant. Lots of bright, bold colors and Hispanic art throughout. There is a L-shaped bar in the front with high top seating and then a buffet setup beyond that along with the kitchen and then more seating in the very back. The service is always friendly and quick. I've never had an issue having to wait for a drink refill or grabbing a waiters attention for anything. The food is pretty solid. I've read some mixed reviews and personally have only experienced good food. There have been some instances where something might be slightly overcooked or maybe a piece of steak was a little grizzly but outside of that the flavors are always really good and everything tastes fresh. I absolutely love the Angry Chimi and have had it many, many times. Lately I've been stepping out of my regular zone and trying various other menu items. All of which I would order again. I strongly suggest the queso dip. On Mondays they offer all day happy hour. You can get a house marg for $7.00. Not the best marg ever but it's good and it's cheap. If you are in the Anoka area and looking for something other than wings, I strongly suggest Casa Rio IG: danny_runsforbeer

Food : The food was delicious and the portions were large. The prices were reasonable. Service: Ellen? The kind server with the red headband took great care of our table. she is amazing! Thank you. Ambiance: The Mexican-style interior, I remembered my trip to Mexico! It was great to compete comfortably with friends. I will be back here again.

I would only recommend coming here for drinks and the chips and queso since the margaritas were pretty good, and the staff were so friendly, but the food itself was meh at best and came out almost 45 minutes after we ordered. The saving grace is that we had endless chips and salsa refills to keep us distracted. I got the shrimp fundido, and it was pretty salty (i would recommend more cheese/veggies, less chorizo or even a side of tortillas to balance it out.) My friends got mahi tacos, and they came disassembled with what looked like fish sticks. Apparently they had also ran out of mahi mahi, so my friends had to share. Another person in our group got the burrito and they said it was okay at best. I grew up in the Southwest, so Mexican food, especially Tex Mex, is something I am used to and I typically don't have too high of expectations for Minnesota, especially in the suburbs, but sometimes I can be surprised. Unfortunately, not here though. If you are in the area, looking for a good marg though, this could be your spot. If it wasn't for the chips, salsa, queso, drinks, and our friendly waiter I would have given two stars.

We went to Casa Rio because the other restaurant was extremely packed. This place seem to have some ample space for some newbies looking for a monstrerous meal. With an empty stomach, and a craving for something large, I thought a Mexican burrito would hit the right spot. Entree: meat lovers burrito (multiple meats, smothered in a ranchero red chili sauce). Meat: there are multiple meats in this burrito. I couldn't distinguish one meat from the other, but it didn't hurt my feelings. The combination of multiple meats works for me. 4/5 Sauce: some sauces on burritos are watery and flavorless, but this actually had some great texture and flavor. It seems like it was a little thicker sauce that you could eat with a spoon. 4/5 Consensus: I would definitely go there and eat this again.

Still one of my favorite places to go! I love the quesadillas, sweet corn cake, chicken tenders, and the buffet. Whenever I go with others, they always enjoy the food as well. They've enjoyed the taco salad and nachos!

The waiter and staff were super nice and the atmosphere is fun, the decor and vibe are good, drinks were strong, but the food... the food was no bueno! Came here with a group of 6, we all pretty much ordered different things but me and a friend both ordered the mahi mahi tacos which were supposedly a favorite there... about 45 mins after ordering we were told they were running out of mahi mahi and only had enough for one meal. So we agreed to split that and a quesadilla. When the mahi mahi tacos came out... well the pictures speak for themselves but it was like some strange deconstructed make your own tacos but with literal fish sticks in a bowl. Even putting the fish sticks in with pico, lettuce, and sour cream, there just wasn't any flavor. It wasn't cohesive. The fish even tasted fishy and they were definitely frozen fish sticks lol. Tortillas weren't warm either. It was just not good in general, my friend and I were dying laughing at how sad this plate looked. Thankfully the quesadilla was the only saving grace, I guess we weren't that hungry afterall lol. Everyone else seemed to like their food to a certain extent, but I would say that the food was similar to a slightly elevated Taco Bell.

Went back for the queso! The spicy queso was delectable. Our first batch had a hair in it but our server was quick to take it back and get us another one. I got the southwest chicken - I asked for a chimi but got the burrito but it was still good. It's got flavor and I love the sweet corn scoop that comes with it.

Tex-Mex, at it's finest here in downtown Anoka (one street off the Main Street thoughfare). Free parking lot & ramp next door, as well as street parking. Nice, friendly vibe while we enjoyed our Sunday lunch buffet. Kudos to our server/bartender Kori!

It's a small little place that you would probably miss unless you really took the time to look at the building. There were six of us, and I loved that their menu was straight forward with about 10 main dishes to choose from. I got the cheese tortellini with steak. We also got the breadsticks as appetizers and I got a side cedar salad. The breadsticks were big and fluffy and it came with red sauce, but we also asked for Alfredo sauce to dip it in. The steak on top of my tortellini was cooked great! Was probably cooked to about medium-medium rare. The Alfredo was top tier. I loved the flavor and it was very creamy. They gave you a lot too which was nice. I liked the size of the Caesar salad, not too big, and the dressing was great. I wasn't a super huge fan of the croutons because they were a rye type of bread. We tried all three desserts and they were all very good. The lava cake was my favorite. The waitress was also the hostess. She was very nice. The only thing I would say was that it was a bit odd that she was wearing leggings and a crop top. Just felt a little unprofessional seeing her belly button piercing. She did a very good job serving us though. The food was very well priced and good portions because I walked away with extras. The place was relatively quiet for a Friday night. Please go check this place out!!

The menu is fairly basic, but the selections did taste great. We liked the garlic bread the best, we were able to eat the whole thing with just the two of us as they are so addicting! We also enjoyed the chicken Alfredo and like the meat sauce. It is downtown parking so street parking can be limited. Service was a little slow, it did take a bit for the garlic bread to arrive. But they were apologetic for this.
