Love this bakery! I go here almost every weekend, and I every single thing I have tried is delicious. I especially love the pastries and paninis. Workers are polite and service is fast. They have space to sit down, but it's not really a "hang out for hours" type of place. If you are looking for an exceptional but reasonably priced pastry, I highly recommend this place. read more

Decided to stop and try a new bakery today! The first thing you will notice is that this is right next to Jellybean and Julia's BBQ. I also stopped there today! Definitely go have some BBQ and then stop over here for dessert! Perfect combo! This is a small bakery inside of a strip mall but is definitely a hidden gem in Anoka! There is a lot of Swedish vibes and it was fun to see some of the options they carry here. I opted to try a bunch of different items and they did not disappoint. Each item was very unique and unlike other things I have tried from different bakeries! The stand out for me was the beehive! This is an absolute must try!! The texture of the top and bottom along with the creme in the center is sooooo good!! The lavender cookies (which we gobbled down before I took a picture) are light, delicate and very tasty! All of the items we tried were very good! This is definitely a spot I would come back and try other items! The service here was also incredibly friendly and welcoming! I recently stopped in here and I'm so glad I did! I'm so happy I live close to this hidden gem in Anoka. I was braced by two beautiful display cases full of pastries. It was tough to choose! After tasting todays sampling of this place I look forward to going here myself. I have never heard of this place before today and it is maybe only 5 miles from my home. Swedish Princess Cake! Need I say more? I consider myself lucky that it was available on the day I visited (typically only made on special occasions). So delicious and gluten free! I also purchased Budapest roll which is what I stopped in for. Again gluten-free and delicious. And there were so many goodies that I also had to try the almond cookies, cupcake, matrix bar (better than a Twix according to staff - and they weren't lying). The almond and orange twists were pretty good. They looked the parts they also ended up tasting. Nice for fika, although it might be preferable to have a classic "krans" (wreath) or "längd" (braid/loaf) format, rather than the oversized not-so-single serving. Unfortunately, the semla, however, had nothing on even a super basic standard grocery store chain semla in Sweden, much less an actual bakery one. I've sadly had even worse ones in the U.S., but I still cannot recommend this one if you know what a "real" semla is generally supposed to be like. Service was impersonal and transactional, the experience felt much more anonymous than I would've expected. Found it a bit disappointing as an expat trying to connect with local Swedish immigrant culture. The "Swedish" ambiance felt no more Swedish than that of IKEA. Might go back and try something else from the selection if I ever pass through the area, but certainly wouldn't make a drive out of it. read more

I stopped in while on lunch break to get a treat for my wife and I and ended up with a loaf of bread two pumpkin bars and lemon twists before I knew it. I will definitely be back here to try some sandwiches or soup but I had just picked up tacos next door, and while this is a small counter service affair I am impressed with the variety of items. The lemon pastry was good but could have been tarter for my taste and the bread a flavorful loaf sliced when ordered is delicious with butter. The pumpkin bars with cream cheese icing are just the perfect size and treat for me to enjoy with afternoon tea. There is a small freezer as well that houses gluten free items they make and some Swedish potato sausage and meatballs above that is a shelf with traditional types of Nordic pantry items as well as some coffee. I will update this review as soon as I can make my way back for a lunch and maybe some of the chocolate flourless treat i saw in the case. read more

Ugh!!! The recipes for this bakery have changed from the previous owners. The once popular Lavender Shortbread cookies are like cheap store bought cookies. Tough, with no flavor. Overall, the pastries are much too expensive for what you get. They are small. No way a cookie is worth what they charge that is two inch in diameter. read more

I have always loved this bakery, but yesterday I tried their meatball lunch, and let me tell you it was so good I could have cried. It was simple, but seasoned PERFECTLY. If you want the meatballs, they only seem to serve them one Friday a month, and you should preorder them because they might sell out. The staff is always friendly and helpful - - if there happens to be a newbie at the counter and you have a question, the owners or experienced staff will be in the back and will help you out. The Swedish Crown Bakery bakery is diamond in an older strip mall! There's a handful of tables inside. The place seats 12 people total. We came on a Saturday morning in the summer when people are at the lakes so we got a table easily. It had a constant flow of people coming and going though. I tried items I've never even heard of before and just when I thought I found my favorite, I would try another item. The owners are so nice. We didn't try their waffles but I would highly suggest it. We continue to love this place. I've recently stopped in for lunch and had to update my review. I ordered the Indian selection for the day (yes, an Indian-inspired dish at a Swedish bakery) and it was wonderful. My friend had the Greek soup (love the diverse menu!) and enjoyed it. I also had the hot cocoa which was delicious. They came to check on our food and later when my friend was too full to eat all of her soup, they came out to make sure it wasn't due to taste as they would've offered her something else - too kind! Yesterday I stopped in to pick up treats for gifts for Valentine's Day and have to note that the chocolate covered strawberries were just wonderful. I've also picked up the garlic sourdough bread - didn't even need butter it was so full of flavor. It was wonderful to see how busy it was the last few times I've been in. I have been wanting to try some of the goodies here for a while now. This little gem is located in a little strip mall off of Main.st in Anoka. Hubby and I walked in and we wanted to try all kinds of things but had to pick and choose the ones we really wanted to try. As soon as I saw they had pastries with Cardamom I wad sold. We got Semla, the bread kind of reminded me of a doughnut with a cream filling. Cream itself is not sweet and doesn't have a lot of flavor but together with the bread it's got a lot of flavor. Probably won't get this again but glad I tried it. The Tiramisu was one of the best I have had in a while. Also got a Cardamom krinkle which was really good. The older I get, the more specific I get about what I love in baked goods. I don't like fancy shit anymore- the kinds of desserts that make me feel like I'm obligated to literally salute this tiny, exquisite mousse thing before eating it, like I'm dishonoring it by actually doing what I'm supposed to do, which is friggin annihilate its 27 mousse/gel/cake/buttercream/ganache/whateverthefuck layers with my fork. More and more, I love humble, simple deliciousness: high-quality ingredients, put to good use. Not too sweet, great on the nose and on the eyes, and not reliant on cups and cups of sugar or fat to carry the show. This bakery excels at this elegant simplicity. I had the cardamom kringle*, and it was perfect: ropes of subtly-sweet, perfectly-baked dough laced with cardamom. The whole thing was twisted, baked, and covered in sugar. It was light and floral and ridiculous. The almond danish was also outstanding. Again, they didn't go nuts on the sugar- their pastry cream was light, and not too sweet, and almond flavor shone the brightest. I love this place. We drove up from the Cities, so it wasn't something we can do all the time- but I'd drive further for that kringle. *Yo, Wisconsonites! Not like Racine's kringle! It's breadier, instead of being danish pastry- so think less butter, more bread, no filling, and definitely no slick of weird oil on the back of your mouth after eating. read more

My wife and I discovered this place only a few months ago. But now we're hooked! We're regular customers. All of the pastries, sweets, and baked goods are very good. I really can't do it justice with words. You have to stop by, look, and eat. They have sandwiches and soups too. There are 2 owners. The wife is the mad scientist and chef, working in back with her staff. The husband is the main salesman and more often than not, the person who rings up your sale. They're both SUPER nice people. I wanted to love this place so much. Let me start by saying it's very cute inside and the service was exceptional. I think it was the owner who was helping me, and he was so nice and helpful! He said everything is all natural, not weird ingredients, and "healthy" as far as baked goods go. However, I didn't like my pastry at all. It was bland and flavorless and not good. I was so disappointed. It was highly recommended by him and another girl in the shop too! I can't speak for anything else they sell becuase everything looked awesome. But it was a huge waste of four dollars and I threw almost the whole thing away. Some kind of bun with almond paste and cream filling. The bread was tough and flavorless, the filling was bland. I went to an Anoka event and wanted to check out new places. Someone ordered 3 trays of cupcakes and they looked perfect. The tomato herb soup was fantastic. I picked up a block of Swedish cheese for another day. I enjoyed a cardamom cookie. Very light and go down too easy.They carry a delicious sparkling rose water soda among other unique sodas. It was late so the breads were mostly gone, I had a salmon sandwich later on and it was pre-prepared. Not a salmon salad but sliced and it was delicious. You'll need some real restraint here. Dylan was so friendly and helpful. They even have my favorite dessert, 2 kinds of panna cotta to die for. Only thing not perfect is the beet salad. Swimming in mayo which is fine, but not drowning tiny pieces of beets. Needs at least another good fistful. It tastes good though. read more
