That company had their guy climb on to the second story roof and look at the entire roof for damage. He also walked inside are attic space to see if there was any damage. All he found was some tile that shifted and he said they would need to reseal an area around where the ducting for the AC was at. Quote was around $1200 and since our insurance deductible was way higher than that, insurance said it's on us to get it fixed. So we decided to "shop around" and reached out to RM Roofing for a quote since they had good reviews on Yelp. We scheduled and app for 2 weeks out and told them we had a leak in the roof. Their guy LITERALLY came out to our house, walks to the backyard, looks up at the roof, and tells my wife "I'm gonna send you 2 quotes, one to do the entire roof and one to do a 10x10 section" WTF?!!! He didn't even climb the roof to look at the damage. Nor did he go in the attic. I have no idea how these guys have a 4+ star rating. Fast forward a week and we get an email saying the first quote is $2950 & second quote is $6950 (love how companies say $2950 instead of $3,000 so the customer thinks they actually put some thought into getting an "accurate" quote) I work as a mechanic. Imagine a customer bringing a car to me and saying "my car is smoking" or "there is a leak under my car" and I just look at the hood (I don't open it) and say "okay, I'll give you a quote to change out your entire engine and I'll give you a quote to rebuild your entire engine and you let me know what you want to do?" This is ridiculous to think you can get an accurate quote by standing in the back yard and looking at the second floor roof and saying "I'll send you 2 quotes" Would NEVER recommend these guys to anyone.

So I developed a roof leak at our home and the existing roof was at least 25 years old so it was now time for roof replacement! I did my research and contacted the owner Troy whom was very thorough and informative during our conversation and he answered all of my concerns. The next step was to have my roof inspected, address any concerns and formulate an estimated cost for recommended repair. The estimator Dylon spent nearly 45 minutes performing a complete and thorough inspection. I have solar panels and gas lines mounted on our roof which complicated the roof replacement process. Good news is San Diego County Roofing (SDCR) partners with a great solar company and therefore de-activating the solar system, solar panel(s) removal, replacement and re-activation of the solar system is all taken care of through SDCR. Also SDCR warranties all work provided by their partnering solar company. I chose SDCR to replace my roof and what a great decision it was. I was updated and kept informed through each and every step of of the roof replacement process. I had some wood issues (rotting, worn out etc...) and the cost for the wood replacement was very reasonable. Tarps were laid out to cover our pool and artificial turf and after each day the residence was thoroughly cleaned of debris. Edgar the supervisor was always available whenever I had any questions or concerns. Also Dylon was always "Keeping tabs" with the progress and kept me informed of any issues and offered options when applicable. I felt very comfortable knowing that Dylon was always "on top" of things! Upon completion of the job, Juan invited me to view the new roof replacement and informed me of all that had been done and answered all of my questions and concerns. He even explained that my flat roof section of the garage had 2 sheets of "roofing" (know as "torch down") installed as compared to 1 sheet of roofing which most roofing companies provide, something I wouldn't have known. Apparently during the process of replacing my roof, a section of my newly installed artificial turf in the front of my house became damaged. I had the artificial turf replaced at a cost of $2,200 and true to his word troy had a company check in the amount of $2,200 sent to my house within (1) week. He showed up exactly on time, explained their whole process to make sure I understood the scope of what needed to be done, and made sure to answer all of my questions, including some I thought of after he left. Their quote was on the lower end of the spectrum, but with an excellent warranty and references. We did end up with a $6k change-order for additional [hidden] damage that was not easily detectible during the initial inspection, but it was not surprising, as the roof had not been replace in well over 20 years and there were noticeable soft spots when walking on the roof due to rotten plywood under the shingles. Even with the change-order, the total cost was extremely reasonable, and came in under my projected budget. The work crew arrived promptly on day one and introduced themselves and apologized that it was going to be noisy/messy for the next few days. Every day, they cleaned up the trash very thoroughly and magnet rolled to make sure nothing was left behind. This was a big concern for me as I have two dogs that I don't want stepping on or eating debris. I was originally quoted 5-7 days for the entire project, and they finished in 4.
