Check out Casbah for their happy hours (reduced price hookah) and fantastic Middle Eastern food. The Muhammara dip made with roasted red bell peppers with fresh pita was light and savory with a smooth taste. The kabobs were fresh and tender, but the rice and couscous had a very mild flavor. Their sangria was also probably the best sangria in Jacksonville. The service was a bit slow due to it being happy hour, but they were all friendly, communicated very well, and went above and beyond to assist us. I really enjoyed sitting outside away from the hookah clouds, but the interior is much improved from my last visit many years ago. No longer do you get hit by clouds of hookah, but instead are greeted by a fantastic sound system with themed music and a transformative decor. I felt like I was back in Istanbul. read more

I love this place!!!! They are almost always open, the food is incredible, the atmosphere is amazing. They have happy hour, trivia, belly dancing, music and indoor and outdoor seating. They recently added more space and it is beautifully decorated. The bar area is vibrant with color and ornately designed. The servers are very friendly and this is a place you do not want to miss! It was the best hookah experience I've ever had with my fiance and I last night. I was so impressed with Savana's work. She made us Karak tea and it was fantastic. She recommended the old city sampler, which was wonderful, as well as a strawberry, watermelon, apple mint hookah, which tasted like a snapple. Thanks to my husband for reminding me to write this review. Our family loves casbah and the atmosphere there. On Saturday, we had Savanna as our waitress and she was fantastic! We stayed longer and ordered more drinks because of how her and bella made us feel like we had extra time to spare . I was blown away by these young ladies team's work. Was dying for something healthy after the weekend of heavy...everything. 8:30pm on a Sunday and really didn't I'd find anything besides bar food or higher priced, meh, food. Only been in Jax since Dec, and been to casbah twice, outdoors, but never at the bar when there was a crowd and music. I am very happy I called this place. They, and kitchen, are open until 2am! This is my kind of place. If you don't like hookah smoke while you're eating, don't sit at the bar. Music is great and bartender worked hard. No empty glass of wine. I'm not a connoisseur of this type of food but I had the tabouli and swordfish kebabs on rice. Both very good! The little mixed olive platter with cheese n salami? Not my thing but I ordered it soooo, I can't blame them. And as mentioned I've been here in the daytime with my dog, and service and food was great. Definitely worth a visit! The outdoor patio seating is awesome with nice decor and peaceful ambiance. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Pretty standard middle eastern dishes that were full of flavor and authenticity. We went for a Saturday dinner and got to experience the belly dancing show which was an added bonus. We ate at the bar on 8/26/24 around 10PM. The food was absolutely exceptional, the draft beer selection had so many of my favorites & best of all, the bartender Sebastian was so kind! He was so attentive & had wonderful suggestions. I cannot recommend this place enough. The host was also so helpful & friendly, pointed us in the right direction so efficiently! Simply put, the atmosphere is always amazing, the service was ok, but the food was not up to par as it was the last few times I went. I ordered an Arabic Salad and some of the ingredients were missing, and I ordered a Kanafa to go. I get home to find that I received only half a slice of Kanafa with missing ingredients. I am disappointed and feel disrespected with the quality of the food I ordered, and mediocre service I received on May 27, 2024 at around 6:30pm. This has to be one of my favorite Hookah places in Jacksonville! the staff are always friendly and attentive, even the owners pop up on occasion and are very friendly. it has a nice relaxing atmosphere and three different areas to sit in. they have a smaller area with couches, the bar area which has seating both at the bar and tables and couches surrounding it and a cozy outside area. They have gorgeous lighting. Now to the good stuff, the hookah is always good and reasonably priced, always sanitary too. Drinks are always good and they have a great happy hour and cocktail menu to chose from. The food is great too! I've never had Middleeastern food before and some of my friends got me to try several things and it's all really good. This place is horrible. I used to come once every few months for years and it was great. The last 2 times I've been the food has been horrible. I tried one more time and placed a to go order for the lamb shawarma. I got home and the lamb was fried to a crisp. I drove back and they wouldn't refund me and make a new dish. It was either new food or a refund. I had requested management as soon as I arrived but after waiting 20 minutes was told they wouldn't be there for another 30 minutes. Fun atmosphere, I have been serval times before this last time was more just for a quick bite. I went with the appetizer salad trio. Pretty small portions but it worked for a later dinner. The kabobs were the lamb kabob and the ground beef kafta kabob. Both kabobs were so tasty. As for the hummus, I have never tasted better hummus in my 25 years on earth. It pairs great with cucumbers. The main comes on a bed of couscous or rice pilaf but you can ask for a combination of both if you'd like. We got the combination and both were so tasty. The kafta kabob was seasoned very well. I've wanted to try this place for some time now. And after the Yelp Symposium @ the MOSH, I was really craving real Middle Eastern flavors. The menu offers my favorites so I ordered take-out. You really can't go wrong with the gyro at Casbah. It's served in a nice lavash with the perfect balance of meat to veggies. It comes with a side of hummus, tabouleh, or fries for about ten bucks. I opted for the tabouleh and ordered another regular size of tabouleh as well. I shared a Lamb Shwarma Over Hummus Platter with my guy. They actually give an ample amount of pita bread to sop up all of their delicious hummus. We totally demolished all of it. Licked that plate clean. Seriously. We did. Overall, I recommend ordering a little of everything or at least two entrees to share and nibble off each other's plates if you're getting a to-go order. Ask for extra sauces. The service (even on the phone) was warm and welcoming & pick-up was a breeze. Price-wise, we dropped around $33 total for our dinners and would definitely order food here again. A chill Saturday night was very much needed. Hookah was really good. Dharma Initiative with a milk base is highly recommended for new comers.
