We did carry out on this day and unlike some other Five Points locations, it's easy to find parking, even on a Friday afternoon at peak dinner time. Everything they do is solid, their gyro, pita and falafel rank amongst the best in the area. They must do their pita fresh and on site. Hovan has turned into one of my favorite lunch spots that I go to on a weekly basis during the work week. It is family owned and serves fresh authentic food that is affordable and good for you! I love the variety of fresh options and how quick it is to grab a lunch and either take it home or eat it there on the corner of five points. The falafel was outstanding! True and authentic to the Middle Eastern culture and I was most impressed with the crunchy outside and moist inside. Moreover, it was not over fried! I wished I had gotten the young woman's name who is at the counter. She is a phenomenal representative for Hovan as she knows the menu items well. When I asked about the turmeric chicken potato soup, she said it was one of her favorites because of the flavor. Hats off that was probably the best soup I have had in so long! Rich with flavor, loaded with chicken and vegetables it was outstanding! I got the pastrami roll, which was excellent. Wow, if I could give this place a 6/5 I would! I've passed by this restaurant many times but have never stopped in until I got it recommended to me. It's located in a great spot, right on the corner, and I found a parking spot relatively quickly. They have tables inside and outside, and you can dine in or take out. When I went at 2pm on a Saturday, they were super busy but I was still helped very quickly. I got the falafel gyro with a side of rice. Absolutely 10/10! My rice came right out of the steamer and my falafel came right out of the fryer. Everything is super fresh, seasoned well, and very tasty! The customer service was quick and great. The man who took my order took his time answering a question of mine so I could get exactly what I wanted, even when there was a line behind me. I will say the falafel was not crispy as the reviews mentioned and I was hoping for more out of the hot sauce, so maybe it was an off day. As we walked in the front door my initial thought was it's a little underwhelming. The menu on the wall looks pretty limited. The have a handful of items that can we ordered a couple different ways. You order at the counter, slide over to pay and then wait to get your food. I ordered the gyro over the house salad and added feta cheese. It was pretty good. I'm not a fan of cucumbers and there were quite a few if you like that. The dressing and gyro were great. I don't remember what it's called but I also got the honey cake. They gave me the corner piece which is always a bonus. My wife got a ham and turkey club with a side of potato salad and pasta salad. I'm not usually a fan of potato salad but this was okay. It didn't have mayo on it so that's s good thing. It was close to room temp and tossed in olive oil and herbs. I'm not usually in this part of town so I'm not sure when I'll be back. I'd probably go here again over going to one of the Mexican places in the area. read more
