I picked Tequilas D Oro for lunch recently. My son and daughter-in-law had never been, and I'd been telling them about it for a while. As always, a beautiful restaurant. It's always clean, festive and has a ton of seating depending on what you're in the mood to do. There are typical booths, a bar, secluded areas along with indoor and outdoor seating. Really nice, festive Mexican decor everywhere. Our server as with all of them was stellar. Friendly, attentive, he truly cared that we had a great experience and he helped make it great. I ordered the lunch chimichanga and it was still the size of most dinner platters. It was delicious along with the rice and beans that came on this side. The guacamole was amazing as well. There is also a salsa bar where you can get any level of heat. All of them are great. Tequilas is one of two Mexican restaurants I frequent and they are excellent. If you want some great Mexican food and a great dining experience, it's a must. I highly recommend Tequilas D Oro. read more

Tequilas D Oro was a bit of a mixed bag. The Restaurant is huge, with decor and ambiance that could host a large celebration but was barely seating 5 parties on a Holiday before a USA World Cup game. Upon being shown to our booth, the floor by the table we were seated at was extremely slippery. At first I thought it was due to a fresh mopping and they had just forgotten a sign, but it stayed extremely hard to navigate the entire meal. Let's get into the highlights: some of the freshest table side guacamole I've ever had. Made right in front of you and you get a ton for what you pay for. My lunch portion of my Yucatán Quesadilla was only $9.99 as it was a Friday and it was just okay. Unfortunately, I did have to cut it myself. The "small" margarita for $12.99 is absolutely gigantic. In fact, every drink I saw come out was of ginormous proportion and seems to be the main draw here. Unfortunately, I was a bit let down by both the salsa, as even though there was a full bar, none of the options were all that tasty. The biggest detractor was honestly the service. Our server was extremely nice on the surface, but every opportunity was used to upsell by every member of the staff. A bigger drink, another appetizer, another drink, handing us their card and asking for a review following paying. I normally never have issue with this but it became overwhelming at a certain point. This restaurant absolutely feels like it has potential, but might suffocate over its mistakes in an extremely crowded Town Center/Southside Market. read more

Our party of 6 came in and the place was steady busy. World Cup was playing and TV volume was on 11 but it didn't seem to be on everyone's mind. Regardless, the volume with all the hard surfaces made it a little challenging to have any conversation. We started with the house chips and bean dip, grabbed various salsas from the bar and those were mid at best. The salsas could definitely use an improvement - the idea is appreciated but execution felt like poured out of a Sysco gallon bucket. The queso was good and the table side guacamole was fantastic. There wasn't any kind of presentation or "show" but flavor and texture was excellent. I would not eat here and skip that guacamole - it's a must have. We opted for 2 pitchers of margaritas - gold and prickly pear. Gold was a heavy pour and prickly pear was a fave around the table. My battered fish tacos were great - substantial piece of fish and solid execution. Ground beef entrees around the table were not rated well so I would not recommend - bland. I mean, I'd rarely order ground beef personally if I'm out eating Mexican anyway. Service was spot on - the team effort was consistent and they all did a great job - personable and attentive. After a day of volunteering, my friend and I was famished. Using the power of Yelp, Tequilas D Oro was our choice. And what a great choice it was. The interior is spacious, fun and modern. Yummy!!!! We had everything from nachos to churros and everything was scrumptious. I can honestly say I have never had a coconut margarita but it was tasty. I'll admit upfront--I'm tough on Mexican restaurants. I've spent a lot of time in Mexico and eaten well outside the typical U.S. version, so my expectations are probably a little unfair. Started with the peach margarita. I mean... look at it. Absolute showstopper--salted rim, fruit garnish, umbrella, the whole production. But taste-wise? It's a 3 out of 5. Not bad, just missing that punch you expect when it looks that good. Chips came out warm, lightly salted, and honestly--really solid. That's how you start a meal right. The salsa though... wasn't really salsa at all. More like a pleasant surprise that turned into a disappointment on flavor. It tasted like spiced bean water--thin, warm, and just never quite delivered. Not offensive, just nothing to grab onto. Then came the "slopchos." And I'll give credit--these are actually delicious. Great toppings, good flavor, you can see the effort. But here's the issue--nachos are supposed to be eaten with chips, not a fork. The second I need utensils, we've lost the plot. There's a full layer of beans underneath that turns the whole thing into a race against time. Five minutes in and you're not eating nachos anymore--you're managing them. Eat fast or accept your fate. I'll always order a classic crunchy ground beef taco, because sometimes you just want that full-on American version--hard shell, ground beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese. Boom. This delivered exactly what it's supposed to. Cheese enchilada was... fine. Nothing offensive, nothing memorable. It leaned a little too close to that mild, almost Taco Bell-style sauce. Cheese was okay, just didn't elevate anything. Service, though, was a bright spot. Bartender was attentive, brought water with the oversized margarita (smart move), and people kept checking in. This was at 4:30--not exactly peak hours--so that stood out. Overall, this place wins on presentation but plays it safe on flavor. There are definitely things worth ordering, but if you're chasing bold, authentic Mexican flavors, you might leave wanting more. If you go in expecting solid, American-style Mexican food with a few highlights, you'll be happy. Just don't let the visuals fool you into expecting more than what shows up on the plate. read more

Last minute girls night out on a weekday! We needed a place to go and I wanted a good drink. Yelp brought up this place and we decided to check it out. The building is big and beautiful both inside and out. Its kind of hidden but once you know its there you will never forget! The food and drinks were amazing and I can't wait to go back for another visit! We order the margaritas flight but instead of frozen we asked for it to be on the rocks. When you order it this way, you dont get as many flavors though. We also ordered two additional small margaritas that didn't come to the table looking very small. The drinks were made with fresh fruit so they will have pulp in it but we all enjoyed the drinks. There was a live band playing in the restaurant for the night. They came to the table and sang whatever "mood" of song you wanted. They did a great job so we gave a tip. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful when asked for recommendations. Everyone was quick to assist and friendly. The food and drinks came out quick as well. We ordered shrimp enchiladas, the breaded fish tacos and the shrimp tacos. I loved the breaded fish tacos. The corn and the beans that came on the side had lots of flavor which was really unusual for me. I'm use to most places having bland sides that only taste good when accompanied by the entree. The rice and the beans were so good they could have been served alone and I would have eaten them by themselves! There were three fish tacos and I was almost full after the first one but after drinking more tequila I knew I needed to at least finish one more. Absolutely phenomenal service, outstanding fresh food, and brand new ambiance! What a wonderful experience! As soon as you walk through the door, the staff greet you with smiles. The menu is very large and they have a little bit for everyone. The prices are good for the amount of food received. The quality is phenomenal and with every bit you can taste fresh ingredients. I really am glad to jump on the bandwagon here and say that this place is AWESOME! From the moment I stepped through the door everyone was super welcoming and extremely pleasant. We were initially seated next to a large group but I decided to ask about the bar and I'm so glad that I did. Once at the bar I was greeted by not one but two awesome bartenders who made me feel like I had the entire restaurant to myself haha. Extremely enjoyable. Now I will say their menu is HUGE!!! So if you happen to struggle with deciding what to order like I do then get something off of every other page! I came here for a quick lunch. The servers attentive and quick. Although I did ask for a side of pico for my entree and it never came. The chips and salsa were delivered immediately upon sitting down, but unfortunately it is not a typical salsa. It was more akin to tahini. I didn't find it complemented Mexican food. The tacos were fine. Rather light on the filling and rather dry. It is a big restaurant and the prices reflect high overhead. They have a cart for guacamole that they will make in front of you, however we opted out on that as my husband is not a fan. The chips are served with a bean dip because they have a salsa bar with multiple options to choose from. A word of caution - if you don't specify the size of margarita you want, you will receive a "medium" which is big! I placed my water glass next to it for comparison. We went to Tequilas D'Oro for 5 de Mayo and we loved it! We got there before 6pm and there was a big line however they had outdoor seating for a Tacos only menu with no line at all. First time at Tequilas D Oro. It's a really large and nicely decorated Mexican restaurant, with clean tables and lots of TV's. I believe there is also an outside dining area. I came with a friend for lunch. We were quickly seated and our drink orders were taken by our server Rick. We were given complimentary chips and a bean dip to munch on while we were looking over the menu. We were also told they had a salsa bar!!! They offer lots of different sauces and a variety of salsas. My friend ordered the Chili Rellenos and I got the Pollo Acapulco. Our food was delicious. One of my new favorite Mexican places! WOW! Evrerything was great. We went on a Tuesday night (Taco Tuesday of course, but no tacos for us that night). We were treated so well. What we loved: * Table side guacamole about 2 in minutes after we arrived. Perfect! Very traditional and just right. * Service - everyone was so nice. Not only our waiter checked on us but other staff members stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed. * I had the Burrito de Birria. I'm picky about birria. This was no disappointment. The meat was extremely tender and the flavor was great. And the size - it was probably 14" in length. * My friend had the Guanajuato burrito. It was full of steak and enough to share if you wanted to try. * Atmosphere - they had a Mexican singer while we were there and he had a great voice. They have plenty of seating inside and outside. We can't wait until the weather is nice enough to sit outside. * Salsa bar - you get a salsa with your chips, but there is an awesome salsa bar with at least six different types. Late lunch and what a pleasant surprise. Warmly greeted by a very energetic host with great people skills and good sense of humor. Never seen table side guacamole prepared fresh and was a definite winner. Our server slid by at the same time to take our drink orders drop the menus off. Extensive menu with items like beef tongue (fan) tacos and tripe dishes(not a fan). Order placed and while enjoying the freshly made guacamole and chips, we were directed to the salsa bar. We had a selection of a variety of different heat level salsa, and some pickled jalapeños, carrots, and onions that were chilled. Great idea love the concept. The only thing I had was put labels on the salsa so we know which one is the one with the kick. Server said later, that they are working on it. The atmosphere is fancy casual - welcoming to families and groups but nice enough for a date night too. Now about dinner: fajitas for 2 is feeding us again for lunch!! Went here for a date night with my wife and overall had a great time. I ordered the classic chicken tacos -- they were good, not amazing, but to be fair I didn't realize they had a salsa bar. That's on me, so I'll definitely be back to give them another try with the full experience. The table-side guacamole was hands down a 10/10 -- fresh, flavorful, and fun to watch being made. Drinks were another highlight. We tried the coconut, pineapple, cucumber margaritas, a mango mojito, and even an old fashioned. All of them were tasty and unique. Garcia was our server and an absolute delight, friendly, effective, knowledgeable. The portions are more than generous, every one of our party of four took home for lunch. Our waitress was Ms. Norma and she was absolutely wonderful. For starters, she asked if we wanted a small or medium sized margarita. We opted for medium. Let's start off with the mandartory starters.. queso and guacamole. Any time the place has tableside guacamole they start the meal on a positive note. The fact that they were willing to modify the guacamole to meet our tastes was even better. The queso was a good sized portion and paired well with bottomless chips. For the mail dish, I had their birria tacos and let me say, if I could get my pot roast to turn out as tender as the meat on these tacos, family dinner night would be far more popular. Tonight was my 1st time visiting this business. It was almost 10 pm and everything was closing in the area except this business. It stays open until 2am Thursday-Saturday. Check for different hours on other days. When I arrived, it was jammed pack with people watching the World Cup. They have tvs all over the building and had a live mariachi band. I hope the atmosphere is always this lively. Although they were full, the hostess went out of her way to make a space for me at the bar by clearing off an area and bringing a chair from another table. I had to wait about 15 minutes, but I appreciated the extra effort. I ordered a Coco Loco, which I haven't had since being in Cancun. It was legit. For $20, my Coco Loco was served in a 30oz margarita glass. Well worth it. I ordered 3 Baria tacos (flavorful, but greasy), which came with a side of Spanish rice and pinto beans. The rice and beans were well seasoned. My only complaint was the greasy tacos. I added some pico de gallo and that helped cut the grease from the cheese and meat. I finished off the night with a Genesis margarita and once again it was good. The bartenders do not hold back on the alcohol. Goodbye to my old faithful, La Nopalera. read more
