AVOID. DIRTY, and I do not mean cleanliness. Something is rotten in Denmark and the staff, especially AMANDA MORT was cruel, vindictive, and rude which was SHOCKING behavior during a difficult time. Horrible experience which may be why they advertise from a place of cheap. Worst customer service, phone games, poor knowledge of protocol, and downright rude behavior. This business was one of a few that were recommended to us by Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland because they charge reasonable fees for their services, unlike some other cremation businesses that I've dealt with. We went online, went through the menu, made our choices, paid online. It was nice to be able to make those decisions in the privacy of your home, rather than going to a funeral home and having someone sell you their services. Once cremation is needed, that's when you'll get an email to sign the paperwork online which I worked with Nicole on that. I met Amanda in person and she's a sweetheart. She was very professional but at the same time very understanding and kind. The ashes were ready in about 2 weeks. I never ever imagined that I would need to contact a funeral home for my child. (Daughter 17years old). Forgive me if I'm leaving out a name or two but I do remember working with Amanda. All I knew was that he wanted to be buried near my family, across the country in Chicagland, to my great surprise. In the past, I've had rather depressing, old-fashioned funeral home experiences. Cascade Memorial was the farthest from the dark, formal, dreary places I was familiar with. Their Federal Way location was bright, hopeful, fresh! I worked with Robin. She was very respectful, understanding and offered great suggestions. There was no rush. I thought I was up against a holiday deadline for transporting and burial. She explained everything. First, I had to find a Chicagoland Funeral Director to accept my husband's casket. Enlisting a second funeral Director might not be in your plans. But you should know the two directors will work seamlessly behind the scenes. There could have even been a hitch due to planes not flying because of high heat temperatures. I was confident after talking to Robin that safety & prudence are at the top of her mind. Cascade's prices are very fair covering a range of price points. They did a proper and professional job beginning to end. My only issue with them was during the time I was waiting to hear when I could pick up mom's ashes. I called. The woman, after I asked for a status check, a little too brightly said "Oh yes, your mother was cremated yesterday!" As if she was saying "Oh yes, we just completed refinishing your table!" I realize the woman is in a business where she must compartmentalize, a cremation to her is just another widget coming down the assembly line. I get that. She's de-sensitized. But her almost flippant comment was like a punch in my gut. It haunts me to this day. On the other hand, it was just about the cheapest creation in town. That would have appealed to mom (Depression Era person). Mom's attitude to my reaction described above? She would have said "Oh get over it!" She was the ultimate pragmatist. Nicole at Cascade Memorial helped with my mother's cremation. It was great to have her handle everything and caring for all of our needs. This whole process was less stressful knowing she was taking good care of my mother. My only issue was with the website. It does not do justice to their beautiful containers. Over the phone, I had selected the hummingbird container. My mother loved hummingbirds. There was no picture of it on the website. When we went to their Bellevue office to pick up the container, we were thrilled with how beautiful it was. However, we saw on display many other beautiful containers. Since we decided to scatter my mother in separate locations, I went back and purchased a few more scattering container. Cascade Memorial is a wonderful place full of caring individuals who make sure that everything is taken care of and they don't charge an arm and a leg to do it. My brother passed away unexpectedly and, although this wasn't a local business (I'm North of Everett and they're in Bellevue), my family and I chose to have Cascade Memorial cremate my brother. They personally picked him up (at no extra charge) and they assured me that they are the only ones who would be handling my brothers remains. No third party help! Their office is welcoming and pleasant and they go out of their way to make sure that everything is done right and everyone is as satisfied as can be during such a difficult time. They also provide a free on-line obituary which I thought was very nice. I would definitely recommend them and use them again if need be. read more

Highly recommend! The sales staff are very sweet and help you out every step of the way. They make dealing with a loved one passing away so much easier than expected. Highly recommend. Staff is very compassionate, warm, and knowledgeable. Madison, Karuna, and Sarah helped me deal with back-to-back within 6 months, sudden deaths of my husband and little brother. They gently guide the bereaved to do what needs to be done, such as accurately filling out death certificate data. There is no sales pressure for expensive caskets or urns, just providing information and prices so the family may choose for their loved ones final disposition. I asked from the start of the cremation process that I did not want her death publicized. Of course some things are out of the Cascades hands .county agencies could publish her death. My mom didn't want a crazy friend of hers to know she had died or where she lived. W.ell low and behold weeks after her death there is an announcement from Cascade published by Google and bearing Cascades name all over it on Google when you write in her name. I was assured by a supervisor that she had contacted Google and it would be removed but wasn't . That supervisor is now gone, they seem to turn over a lot of staff. The new supervisor despite 3 calls has never returned my call. One needs to wonder if they lied about using her name for advertising purposes what else did they lie about. When my father died they sent the body to cascade memorial from the VA hospital knowing that we wanted to have him cremated. I was a little worried not having a choice in the process but glad someone had set things in motion. When I got there the staff was so kind, helpful and up front. They gave us time to decide what we wanted in an urn and didn't pressure us to buy anything we didn't want. They have a beautiful selection by the way. They allowed us to view the body in a sudden decision without being phased. Everyone we worked with helped us take care of paperwork. Such a great staff. They were familiar with the VA benefit paperwork as well. I would recommend to anyone living through the misery of death. Totally affordable as well. read more

During a tough time in my families life - using the CM services made it fast and very easy to to handle this emotional event. We pre-purchased everything online a few days before the actual family members End Of Life event occured. Everything we needed was taken care of and my family didn't have to scramble. Everything was taken care of which helped make a very sad time a bit easier to handle. Areas of improvement; a) their online invoice & receipt processing didn't work for me. I had to manually request a receipt emailed ot me. b) even though I pre-filled out forms online they required me to fill them out again manually and send them back. Any other time in my life it wouldn't be a big deal but during a death in the family it really bothered me. However, I will use their services again. read more

The other place, the guy was gruff and seemed distracted. At Cascade, the lovely Nikki answered the phone. I do not recommend this mortuary if you are a person of color. we used them for my sister and they did an awful job. Her wig was on top of her head not placed, they did not do her makeup for the funeral services, her children had to put it on before the services, even though we provided them with the make, we felt rushed and the price for this service was more than they what did for my loved one. though they had her info, their online obituary for her was not updated until the day of her services. We were in the hospital with no clue how to proceed. The reviews for cascade convinced me and I called them. They were thoughtful and courteous. I liked that they didn't ask all the questions at that time. Instead they emailed me a link that let us fill everything out online later and pay online. I understand that many families do not have funds to pay for a typical cremation or funeral. That said, I am very, very disappointed with Cascade Memorial. My sister passed away unexpectedly and Cascade Memorial via Heather assured us they had picked up her body the day of release by the medical examiner (Thurs), and that she was held in a "temperature controlled facility in north Seattle." Cascade also processed my credit card payment for cremation services that day (Friday). On Monday when I picked up personal effects, the medical examiner's office assured me that my sister's body was still with them. I immediately contacted Cascade Memorial and was told by Sarah that she was "confused" insofar as that they had no facility in north Seattle and she could not confirm the itinerary of their "care team." That was the end of my business with Cascade Memorial. Sarah indicated she would refund my payment but we will see about that. There is absolutely no excuse for wrong information about something so basic and verifiable as "have you picked up the body?". If your economic situation demands that you consider Cascade Memorial, all I can say is use Extreme Caution - even so far as witnessing the cremation. My confidence in their services is near zero. Buyer beware. Update: On the Friday after the stated events, Sarah emailed me a receipt for the credit return. By the following Wednesday morning, the return still was not processed to my credit account. I called and left her a message. She called back that morning to say how sorry she was about their "error" and that she had spoken with Heather who felt so bad about the "error" and that she had spoken with their financial department who said the refund could take a few days. We spoke for a few moments with me reiterating the above-mentioned facts. Sarah conveyed how she was so, so sorry, and "it was your mother" and such. I pointed out to her that it was my sister we were talking about and that pretty much ended the conversation. Buyer beware. read more
