This past November, for my Grandma's funeral service, I was responsible for creating the program and the prayer card. I had never done this before and was creating it from out of town. The church where the funeral service was going to be suggested I call Flintoft's Funeral Home and have them create the program and prayer card. Chris at Flintoft's was so very kind and helpful in this process. I picked out a design from one of their templates online. I emailed him all the information and the next business day; he sent over a draft for my review and approval. One of the fonts did not look perfect. He promptly helped and selected a different one and it looked so beautiful. My Grandma would have been so happy. When my son suddenly passed away, I found myself needing to arrange for his funeral. I had no idea how this process worked, and I was just completely overwhelmed with grief. I knew of the local funeral home, Flintoft's, and I saw here that they got positive reviews. As soon as I spoke with Allen, I knew that Flintoft's were the right people for this job. Allen was a godsend. He helped me understand what the options were, and what decisions I needed to make. When I was unsure, gave me advice and suggestions. Communication was excellent throughout the process. He gave me his cell phone number, and was there to answer questions whenever I needed him. When we made last-minute changes, he efficiently took care of them with no drama. But more than just these logistical things, Allen did a great job being the friend I needed to get through this process. One of the first things we had to decide was where to bury my son. Allen listened to my preferences, and then gave me a list of 8 or 9 local cemeteries to investigate, along with some characteristics of each and advice on when to visit, and some other things we might want to think about. Because we decided to use the local cemetery in our small town (same town as Flintoft's is located), Allen was even able to help us purchase the burial plot. Another decision we had to make was for someone to run the services. My son had left the church he had been attending regularly about two years prior. I wasn't sure what the reasons for that were, so I didn't want to ask the pastor there for help with this. Allen recommended a man who was a chaplain with the local fire department (Martin). Martin was another godsend. He came out to our house, stayed for almost 90 minutes to talk with us, offer advice, and generally just make us both feel better. I could visibly see my wife's spirits improve during this visit. On the day of the funeral, he did a tremendous job. My son was one who often made sacrifices for his friends, and so we had a good number of these friends at the service. After I delivered the eulogy, Martin did a great job of coaxing them to come talk about my son. He knew that the hard part was getting the first person to go, and he had a technique for that. Hearing all the stories about how good a person my son was, and seeing how much they loved him, has been a huge help to my wife and I. I agree with one of the other reviewers that said she wished she could give 10 stars. read more

He gently guided me through the steps I needed to take after my father in law's passing, two hours prior. He informed me that his son Allen would be available to speak with me at 9:00am, when they opened. Instead I was greeted by Allison's soft, kind voice. It was important to my mother in law that she say goodbye to her husband of 55 years, the same day that he passed. Allison made this happen seamlessly. It has taken me a year to be able to share our experience with Flintoft's. Our sweet baby girl passed away on Valentine's Day last year. During this horrific pain, and anguish, Flintoft's kindly, quietly, and gently helped us through the process. Our needs for their services was very unexpected. Ken and Lauren were very supportive and helpful the night of our baby's passing. Very reverent, and kind. Everyone else we worked with, Allen, Scott, Elizabeth.. also were kind and gentle with us. We never felt pushed into anything we didn't want to do. We told them what we wanted and they did their best to help us with our requests. Parents dealing with the sudden loss, absence, pain, and other stuff, are not really in their right mind. I think anyone who loses someone suddenly is in the same boat. Flintofts made it so we didn't really have to think too much about stuff. They showed us our options, they quietly would slip out of the room so we could talk and try to make decisions. The first thing anyone seeking a funeral home should know is that price does NOT correlate to quality or value in this industry. Flintofts was about 40% cheaper than the other local provider on the Eastside, which is owned by a huge corporation, and yet their service quality could not be surpassed. The second thing you need to understand is that just because your loved one is being buried at at cemetery x you do not need to use the funeral home connected with that cemetery for the funeral home services. If the grave has already been paid for then the cemetery people are going to steer you to their "sister" company without mentioning that you have other options. The pricing at that sister company is literally 60 - 80% higher than you can get from an independent provider like Flintofts. I contacted Flintofts after hearing good things about them from our church while meeting at the church to discuss my father's funeral. The church could not have been more correct. Every aspect of their service was professional, compassionate and on-time. They even voluntarily discounted part of the bill because of something that in their eyes was not up to their standards. I was particularly impressed at the high quality work they did on the slide show, which we had very little time to put together. They can do this because they have a full time, in-house graphic artist. And unlike the other guys, they do not charge extra for it. read more

I used Flintoff's to arrange for the burial and funeral for my wife in 2013. They were as helpful and supported as they could be. But their support doesn't end there. I recently needed them to help restore the grave stone which had sunk into the ground and we couldn't keep the mud off of it. Flintoff's jumped right on it and did a wonderful job restoring it. I won't to into extreme detail, but--with a recent family memorial service--there evolved a case of the Missing Floral Arrangement. The florist claimed delivery. The family, however, never received the arrangement or attached card. After a back-and-forth, time-consuming effort on our part (the floral arrangement senders), Flintofts--specifically, Allen Flintoft, took the high road and resolved the issue. Clearly, this was his customer-focused, solution-based approach. I now understand why this family owned business is now in its third generation of ownership. My brother and father both died within the last two years. Loosing a family member or close friend creates a sad and stressful situation in one's life. There are so many things to take care of, and a desire to handle everything in the best way possible. At the same time that all of these "jobs" need to be handled, there is a great amount of emotion, and all of this can be quite overwhelming. In my case I wanted to be certain that my loved ones were cared for respectfully, and this needed to happen with someone I trusted. I found every employee with whom I dealt with at Flintoft's to be kind, caring, and helpful in every way possible. Allen showed so much grace to me and my family when we needed it the most. He was also extremely knowledgeable about every detail, even down to those that I thought would be out of his purview. My father was buried at Tahoma with full military honors, and Allen was very familiar with all the military requirements, as well as the details of the service. No stars! The worst experience since loosing my Mother? THIS PLACE is cursed and the name should be F off. I was across the country. I could not get answers. How did my Mother die? The Man answered, at this devils hell hole ,she died from "death"Need I say more? Then my sister said her heart stopped, another scientific medical opinion. She is still squatting at the condo I bought for my MOM! She had a pacemaker she obviously did not need, it did not work or they did not check or test). My distress has never ended long enough to speak with the doctors about their guess. My bag was packed. I had a Flight in AM from Miami to Seattle. I was going to take her to her summer place, a beautiful condo at Providence Point in Issaquah Washington. I would again be her caregiver as And she would come back to Miami with me like she always had when the N.W.rains began in October. Oh! Although I have yet to need Flintoft's for funeral arrangements, the business contributes a large amount of time and resources to the Issaquah History Museums' annual Volunteer Awards Night every year. Allen Flintoft and his staff take care of all the details of program printing, video presentation, food, drink and decorations. They are courteous and efficient. Guests at the event are always very complimentary, and our volunteers really feel the love when they arrive at such a first-rate event. We could never hope to put on such a great event on our own.
