The large playfield is great for setting up picnics, bringing lawn games and enjoying time in the summer sun. Downside: people seem to think it's an off-leash dog park. A super cute little park located in the midst of apartment complexes and next to a community garden. It's a nice open space where lots of people bring their dogs to play and meet and also bring their kids to play on the playground. If you bring your pup, please clean up after them if they poop. Lots of kids and people come to play on the grass and nothing sucks more than stepping in a pile of poop. This park had a basketball hoop, just one and no lines. This is the only park in the area and quite frightening. Needles are found in the ground and encampments are near permanent, some of which have electricity and wood structures. Human and animal feces are all about. Several of those living in the park have mental issues and threaten those who try to walk through. Neither the city nor the parks department will do anything. There is a big rat problem due to food left out. The unhoused should not have to live like this with rats out in the elements. And everyone deserves the right to walk through the park safely without harassment or fear of disease. The park belongs to everyone. But the park is also not a place to live or camp. read more

Nice park in the cascade/lake union area. They've got a big ball field, then a couple different areas for the kids (one for little kids, one for the older kids). There's a sand-pit with some digging tools, plenty of slides and climbing things. There's also a basketball court that doesn't seem too full. They even have bathrooms, if you're in a pinch, and there's the p-patch to enjoy right next door. Nice option if you've been shopping at REI or whatever and want to actually go enjoy the outdoors. read more

My family and I just moved in to Seattle and we think that having a park close to home would be wonderful for our daughter! What a sad mistake! The park has a very nice structure, 2 playgrounds , sandbox and even a field to run with your dog, the problem is that it's frequented by drug dealers and drug users. Once, a couple sat on the playground and started smoking pot, as if there were no children playing there! I tried it again, another day, and there was people drinking, using drugs and at a certain point, those people exalted themselves and had a fight. So this nice little quaint park is in the heart of whats known as the "Cascade Neighborhood" aka "ALLENville" , South Lake Union, "VULCANtropolis".... whatever..... This park includes a nice community P-Patch, a GREAT kids play area, a ball field, basketball court and regular bathrooms...... The only downfall of the park is the bums that still frequent the area, but they mind their own business and dont panhandle...... Many a kickball games are hosted here, you will constantly see the kids of the neighborhood daycares here..... ' This place has a great vibe overall... This fun little playground is near a P patch in the middle of bustling Seattle. Most people would never know this little patch of green and nature exists here without going here deliberately. It is located near some decent shopping and several local cafes and eateries that are popular and worth the walk around the neighborhood. There is quite a bit of construction going on here, so walk with caution and enjoy the views. read more

This park is the best! It has a few small sandboxes, a playground for younger toddlers and a giant 'lava' pit for older kids. Many different kinds of slides, cool little chair swing for the younger ones, but my favorite part is it's location and the fact that it is all fenced in! There are only a few openings that I have to keep an eye on to keep my runner inside the playground. This park is about 4 miles from our house but so much better than the one across the street it is worth the drive :) read more

I was hesitant to take my 10 and six-year-old here after looking at the reviews, but decided to try it on a Monday at 10 AM. The little playground area about a large grassy field which is next to a nice community garden. There were a lot of seniors out today, and a couple of homeless folks who kept their distance. I recommend this place for kids at least early in the morning. read more

Cascade Park has been a community gathering area for homeless people for decades. The neighborhood has in recent years seen a spike in homeless folks that call the park home that used to live in the apartments and houses of the neighborhood before they were razed and turned into condos. This has been a very organic transition, and is peculiar in that, as the wealthy move in and replace the older homes and their residents with more condos and tech-bros the park becomes more of a last resort to more people. Another reviewer repeatedly calls them "bums," although it is a rare, almost never, occurrence to be approached by the homeless in or around the park and asked for money. The police do attend to this situation, but they do it stealthily and out of the public's eye as much as possible. People sleep in this park because it IS safe, and families and children play there without interference from homeless folks, aside from the obvious misuse of the restroom facility. What one may observe of others' proclivities is personal judgement and has little to do with morality or humanity. And these observances are wholly because of the depletion of vegetation by city efforts to address the judgmental decisions of those who have recently come to use the park. Homeless people have no other places to go in which to feel safe, and they don't offer drugs or alcohol to the regular domiciled users of the park. The record of calls for law enforcement responding to issues with the homeless in the park have never been concerning an issue between homeless people and regular park users. Reread that last sentence. Never. Those who complain about what they see in public should invest their time in making more contributions to addressing the issues of homelessness and not just addressing their distaste in having to "tolerate" the existence of homeless people. You can't have your gentrification cake and eat it too without invoking immoral state violence. read more
