We were trying to find a restaurant on the Dine Out Lauderdale list when we came across this El Salvadoran hidden gem! The only ways to truly know where is it located is to know the area, or happen to see the tall Jenaritos sign by the sidewalk. We walked right past it. Even when we returned, we weren't certain that was it because it, as well as the other shared businesses next to it were labeled. The true reveal was the sign. The sign was the sign! Be prepared to be able to speak a minimum of Spanish when ordering. We were greeted warmly, and started our order. If you don't use it, you lose it. Our Spanish was good enough to complete the order. We apologized for it afterward, but were assured it was good. There is nothing fancy going on inside. Order and pickup at the counter. A large menu is posted in plain view behind it. There is enough seating for a few groups of people. And Latin food items available for purchase just like at a bodega. If you order pupusas, which we did, we must inform you that you NEVER eat a pupusa with a utensil! You must ALWAYS eat a pupusa by hand. Jenaritos make curtido just right! Going back to the start, YELP really should consider that category. Small businesses make up over 80 percent of businesses in the country. And small, family-owned restaurant that occupy small or obscure spaces are often among the best. There are hits as well as misses. It's the hits we want to know about! As a salvadoreña I'm always looking for places with authentic salvadorean food, we noticed a lot of people coming in and out of this place and figured it was a good spot to try. We visited today for breakfast and ordered pupusas. I was so happy to know they offer "rice" pupusas! I hadn't had rice pupusas in years!! They're usually sold only in one area of the country itself in El Salvador so I was surprised to find them here! What a treat! Absolutely delicious! I also tried their regular corn based pupusas and were excellent as well. This is no fancy place, but its authenticity makes it charming and welcoming. Being at Jenaritos brings me back to my time growing up in El Salvador and visiting "Pupuserias." I would totally recommend this place and will be coming back over and over again.

In fact, some workers were sitting down to their feast for one! The facilities is clean, the ladies who work both in the open kitchen as well as the one who checked me out were delightful. I ordered my caldo de gallina (hen soup) which comes with complimentary white rice and a plain pupusa (Salvadoran-style handmade tortilla). They also include a bag with minced onions, cilantro and a slice of jalapeño. I hope I can return soon and peruse through all of the Latin American products they carry. It was a great first experience!

I threw it out. It was awful. I even remember it wasnt hot, it was just sitting there. Severe rotten food. Got food borne bacteria. I do not recommend this place. I should've known better.
