I think the 5 star reviews really say it all. This place is hands down the coolest wine store I have ever been too. It looks so dingy on the outside, and once you open the door you feel as if you are in an underground cellar with dark lighting and fabulous cork sculptures of various countries. The wine selection is so extensive that admittedly, I was incredibly overwhelmed. Like how do you even pick a wine? They do a variety of events, and the staff is incredibly knowledgable. Wherever you live in south Florida, if you're a wine lover, you've got to come to a tasting here and experience what we did last night. The new facility discrete beautiful. A friend went to the wine store earlier in the week and heard about the restaurant. It looks like a closed warehouse from outside and opens to a beautiful wine store with maybe 12 tables throughout. The hours online reflect the store hours not the restaurant hours so it's open for a few hours later. We made reservations since we had a large party. Got sat immediately got got drinks ordered. You're able to walk over to the wine cellar and pick out a bottle of wine to drink at dinner which was very classy. The truffle fries were very good but the flatbread was really thick. We called it a thickbread instead. The service was fine and the decor was really cute. I love the sheep fur on the chairs. It helped because it was very cold in there. I'm sure it's to keep the wine from going bad. I'll recommend for anyone who likes good wine and some easy apps. read more

A new location AND a beautifully newly built WINE BAR!!! Any Wine Lover in South Florida who knows owner Andrew Lampasone, knows that he is the most passionate and knowledgeable collector of wines in South Florida and if I had to guess, Wine Watch probably ranks right at the top in terms of inventory of wines from all over the world. And if anyone knows Andrew, he loves to share his wines and knowledge with everyone he comes in contact with. There is not much he doesn't know, so the experience of buying wine at Wine Watch is like nothing I have ever experienced. For the last 20 years Wine Watch was a hidden gem tucked away off Sunrise Blvd and when we went in, we literally walked into a wine cellar with over 10,000 bottles of wine from all over the world and old vintages anyone would be pressed to ever find. The whole store (Cellar) was kept cool of course, and wine box covers were the decor from floor to ceiling with low lighting to preserve the condition of the wines. The passion that Andrew had over the last 20 years paid off on May 7, 2018 when Wine Watch expanded into a new building across the street, one side being the Wine Cellar, and the other side a beautiful wine bar with a tremendous menu, comfortable seating and a nice gathering area for anyone who wants to come in on Friday nights and share their own wines with other wine drinkers. NO CORKAGE FEE!!! The Wine Bar is opened only Thursdays through Saturday. WINE WATCH, THE STORE: WALKING INTO A CAVE!!! What a beautiful and well organized improvement. When we walked in, it was like we walked into a Wine Cave. Surrounded by wooden wine bins, all the wines were, again, displayed by region and there are thousands of variatels and vintages from all over the world. Every inch of the store had wines in these bins, and the store is beautifully designed with arches dividing up the room to give it a more "old world" look. Every week there is a wine tasting set up by a wine producer or distributor accompanied with food pairings, a very nice event. We happened to walk in there during one of the tastings and it was set up around the "cave" with different stations and each station had food pairings displayed nicely with the wines. SHOPPING FOR YOUR WINES: Wine Watch has set up an organized website with all the updated inventory. When you go into the store, he only way to find what you are looking for is by using their i Pad, nicely designed to sort out by region, varietal and price. And of course Andrew and others are there to help. Very difficult to find the wines on your own since there are so many. Wine Watch is like shopping for Gold!!! There is a Web Sight: www/winewatch.com to check the inventory and order on line to pick up, shop for gift boxes and even wine accessories. Wines can be preordered and picked up at the store, but they also can ship all over the country. WINE WATCH, THE WINE BAR: There is nothing Wine Watch missed here, including the creative menu choices planned and prepared by Mrs. Lampasone. There are several 4 top tables with furry red covers to sit back on, hand crafted tables made with wine boxes and a comfortable sitting area in the corner to enjoy wines with friends. The ceiling is covered with wine box covers, low lighting made out of large wine bottles and corks and one wall covered with different wine labels from different producers, some of them signed. As mentioned earlier, there is a bar set up for a tasting area for people to bring wines of their own to share on Friday nights. Still order the Wines off the well organized I Pad. When I come to a place like Wine Watch I want something I can't find anywhere else, so we ordered a bottle of Melka Metisse 2009. Beautifully aged. Andrew himself opened and decanted for us and sipped it himself to make sure the taste was on target. WINE BAR MENU: Wow!!! A fabulous fresh Charcuterie of meats and cheeses, a section of Fries, Pizza and Sliders, a Main Menu with Fish and Meat dishes, and a section for ordering Wine By the Glass. Well, I have never had anything like their WHITE TRUFFLE & PARMESAN DUSTED SHOESTRING FRIES. A huge mound of them, of course made to split, but as recommended, take the rest home and eat them cold, and 2 days later, we are still enjoying them. A must order. BEEF SLIDERS: Pure beef, with Truffle mushrooms, Aioli and Fontana Cheese. Best Sliders I have ever tasted. My wife ordered off the Main Menu, had the MAHI MAHI topped with Mango Salsa over Coconut Basmati Rice. The wine prices will surprise anyone who knows what these wines sell for at retail. Actually beyond reasonable, and it has always been that way. All the food prices include the tip, and together reasonable as well. if there is ever a place to find ANYTHING pertaining to Wine, Wine Watch most likely can help. I was so intrigued when I first heard about this place but then forgot out it, then one Friday night I am out and about with a friend going to 27 and it was empty, however there where cars everywhere! Then we though everyone was about laser wolf which is across the street, so off we went and again it was empty, then all the sudden it clicked maybe the "secret wine place" I heard about is around, so I Yelp it and sure enough I was standing right in front of it, it's right next to 27, no sign, looks empty from the outside. Inside - WOW!!!! 2 sides to this place, one is a wine store, the other a restaurant. Service was so friendly we decided to stay even though we hadn't planned for it, we had a Charcuterie board with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, everything was delicious. Service was very attentive and the menu is reasonably priced, I was very surprised at the value. I will definitely be back, great place for a group party or date night. All that was possible because of the lovely crowd of people and impeccable selection at Wine Watch. I was taken here on a surprise date without being told where I was going or what we were doing. This place is unassuming from the outside, but it's intimate, dimly lit, and beautiful on the inside. I tried such an eclectic variety of wines and left with more knowledge than when I entered. Came here on the recommendation of a friend. The dining area becomes "reservations only" after a certain time so make sure you plan accordingly. I liked that the entire wine list was available on a scrollable tablet. There was a huge selection of wines and a decent selection of food. Charcuterie is definitely the way to go but if you're looking for something more fulfilling and hearty, the "flatbread" comes out pretty thick. The truffle straw fries is also a hefty choice able to share with a large table. Overall the food and drink were great. I was not, however, very impressed with the service. The staff were knowledgeable and polite but the times they came to the table were few and far between. Glasses were left empty and cleared plates remained on the table for long periods of time. I got to know about this place from my Yelper friend, Ryan F. Then I did a search on their wines and discovered that while most of the wines are 10%-20% above the market average, some options were "on-sale" and this made a handful bottles attractive (competitive) so I placed my first order of 4 bottles worth $773. Then I called them to make sure the bottles would be kept in optimal conditions until I got there to pick them up. I spoke to Ward and I told him the day and time I was going to go, Sunday February 4th around 2:30PM. A few days after I saw another wine I wanted and I called, talked to Andrew and placed another order for one bottle of Merus worth $148. So far life was beautiful... Two days after I received an email saying that my latest order of Merus was cancelled, I called and talked to Flavio and he said they couldn't find that bottle, which is common when they have only one bottle left in stock. STRIKE ONE! Their website showed 2 bottles at the time I placed my order. The planned pick up day arrived, I got there and the store was closed, I called, left a message and nobody answered. The following day I received an email from Andrew explaining that they closed because of the Super-bowl, I told him I went out of my way (2 hour drive) and I'm only in the area the first Sunday of every month, so my next time would be 03/04. We confirmed that date around 2:30PM. The new planned pick up day arrived, this time I went with some friends, since we were going to have dinner nearby and we needed one of my prepaid wine bottles to make it history! This time they were open, but they couldn't find my order, I showed them the email, gave them the order number and we were already running late for the restaurant reservation. After a while they said that the wines were at another location and it would take around 30 minutes to have them available, so we had no other option then to spend another $160 on another "overpriced" bottle of 2009 Merus. STRIKE TWO! After we finished eating, drinking, and having an incredible Sunday we returned hoping for a final consummation of retrieving my 4 bottles of wine being captive for almost 2 months. Andrew was there, my girlfriend asked him nicely if he could give us a discount for all the troubles and he said NO. I got the case with the bottles and the employee asked me for a credit card, I told him that I already paid for this order, they proceeded to charge me. I told him and Andrew that I paid for this order with my American Express weeks ago, and showed them the email, Andrew insisted that this order was not available for pick up as it should was because I was NEVER charged for it, he went on to said that they never charge for orders in advance. So I asked him why I was given a refund on an order of Merus they didn't have, I asked how I could get a refund if they never charged me for it. I was feeling awful already and wanted to leave, when I finally found my Credit Card statement and the charge of $773.80 dated of 01/25/18. So Andrew said, you were right, let me void the charge! (No apology whatsoever) Then my friend's wife perplexed by this lack of customer service and professionalism gave Andrew another opportunity to make it right and asked him if he was willing to "fix things", she didn't specify getting any kind of compensation, she just wanted to see if he wanted to extend himself a little for all the troubles and his reply was simply, - NO! STRIKE three and you're OUT: on March 4th 2018 this business lost 4 costumers that spend (more than we should) in wine. In addition to this I ask thousands of people that read my reviews to AVOID THIS PLACE, and in case you don't find what you need anywhere else, keep your eyes wide open so you don't end up getting robbed. read more

Talking about a hidden gem in Fort Lauderdale! Last night we were hanging out with some friends at a local bar and we noticed this weird building across the street, where people just keep going in. So after a few beers we decided to go and grab a bite. However, as we were leaving one of my friends said let's go and check out that place, it looks interesting. As we got closer I noticed the outside walls where covered with creates of wine brands, So I knew I was up for a surprise. We finally went in and what a surprise it was. This is hands down one of the most beautiful and unique establishments I've been to in a while. The whole place is a huge wine cellar, the walls are decorated with wine labels, and there are bottles of wines cellared on wine racks on the walls as well, their chandelier is also made with corks and it was just amazing. We were welcomed by one of the waiters and he explained the process. After that we were approached by Andrew(owner) which was very helpful and helped us out to select a wine, and some awesome and delicious bites to pair with it. We order a Malbec since that's what the party agreed on and for food we order a board of charcuterie and pork belly bites with jalapeños mermelade... dear lord!!! The ambiance is outstanding, the people and service is excellent, and on Saturday nights they host a bottle wine share, you can either bring your own bottle of wine in a brown paper bag or you can buy one there to share. This type of venues is what Fort Lauderdale needs. I will definitely recommend them and I'm sure we will be back soon. read more

Loved this place for many years. A great spot for wine and food. Feels like you are in Sonoma. But if you make a reservation make sure to call back multiple times to confirm they do not cancel on you. Get confirmation on paper. My wife's birthday dinner reservation, which had been booked a week in advance, was cancelled on me. Very disappointed. This would have been the 3rd consecutive bday spent at WineWatch with Andrew. I called twice, since my initial reservation, to confirm and had left messages for the gentlemen Flavio. Later Flavio stated the cancelation was due to multiple attempts to contact me without response. Which is not true... I have received no voicemails or missed calls. My email and contact info is on file with WineWatch. I have never had an issue receiving bills or the weeklynews letter to my email which has been the same for 20 years. read more

Don't shop here. We have bought a lot of wine from this store to ship to California. And spent a lot of money there. We opened one of the bottles that we spent 83.00 on last night and it was bad. Which happens. The bottle looked beat up , had a wax top which was cracked and nearly broken off. So I called them and asked if they could replace it. As we hadn't had issues with out other bottles. the manager Andrew said: no, to contact the winery. I explained to him that we didn't buy it from them we bough it from him. And thus it's his responsibility that he sold me a bad bottle. He talked around in circles over and over saying that he is trying to help me, while he wasn't trying to help me. I was calling for a replacement bottle that most wine shops and places give when a bottle is bad. It's good business and good customer service. He said they didn't have this wine anymore. I asked him for a credit then and he just kept saying the same thing over and over not listening to me. I asked him repeatedly just yes or no will you credit me for the faulty bottle which wasn't cheap that you sold me. After saying the same thing three more times, I said seriously just yes or no. He said no. I told him that we had spent a lot of money there and wouldn't be doing that anymore. And I would tell you to not buy from them either. High prices, poor quality and the worse services in town.

What can I say other than this is a piece of heaven tucked in the middle of Fort Lauderdale. I am a wine lover, but I am trying to learn more about it, and Wine Watch is the place to come if you are looking for an excellent history of wine. I have been here a couple of times, and I swear each time my love for this place grows. Everything from their décor to their food and workers, makes this place one of the best places in South Florida. I really like the fact it has almost like a speakeasy vibe since there is no sign outside of the bar, and it simply looks like a warehouse from the outside. However, once you open the doors, each wall is covered with wine upon wine bottles and even the tiles and chandeliers are made with wine related materials. I also love that you can find anything you want, you just have to let them know what your budget is and the style of wine you are looking for and TADAAAA... the wine comes to you! They have a wonderful menu that is updated every week, along with their staple cheese and meat boards which you can completely customize. They also host regular wine tastings, all which had a specific theme. If you are a wine lover and live in South Florida, this place is a must. I really can't wait to come back! read more

Stopped into Wine Watch on Saturday evening. Selected a bottle of wine from the retail store and then enjoyed it in the wine bar along with the Duck Confit & Smoked Mozzarella Ravioli and Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras. Quality Wine Watch is really two separate, but related entities. It is a beautifully decorated and well stocked wine shop and it is a wine bar that loves to host tastings for unique and rare wines. We arrived just before the wine shop shut down, which was confusing to understand, but with plenty of time to enjoy the wine bar. Because of our timing we were able to select a bottle from the wine shop, but later in the evening I believe you would need a staff member to get something not on the menu. It was a nice wine and one that felt reasonable in price. In terms of food, we started with a delectable Duck Confit & Smoked Mozzarella Ravioli. It was bright and flavorful, and I loved how the duck confit really shined through. We also ordered the less impressive Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras. It was not as rich as I hoped and I also did not enjoy the polenta cake it was served with. The mushroom ragout however was tasty. Based on the mixed results with the food, I think on a return visit I would lean towards a charcuterie plate. Quantity I felt the dishes we ordered were on the smaller side. In ordering two mains, we believed we would be satisfied for dinner, but we both left hungry for more. I would use the menu more as a snack than real substance. Value They have a massive selection of wines available for purchase in the wine shop. I highly advise you to have an idea about what you are looking for, otherwise you may feel overwhelmed. In the end I feel like we got a decent deal and I love how there is no corkage fee to enjoy it next door. The food choices were more high end than I was expected and a little overpriced. Sticking with the charcuterie would probably have been the better decision. Ambiance The gorgeous and unique decor of Wine Watch is what originally put this place on my radar. Located in a large warehouse building in the Flagler Village area of Fort Lauderdale, it is quite a journey for a wine bar. But I could not shake the need to visit based on these incredible pictures. The wine shop is arranged like an underground cellar, with the wall holders made of, or at least looking like large stones. It is kept at a very cool temperature and is only gently lit. The adjacent wine bar was equally awesome, but much different. Also, kept at a low temperature, this high ceiling room had stacks of wines along the walls and a ceiling made of wine boxes. Chandeliers of wine bottles hung down and a yellowish glow filled the place. They had about a dozen tables, a bar near the door, and a small couch area in the corner. It was a room set up for large groups and one where the crowd noise easily drowned out any music. Crowd When we arrived we walked in the first door on the right and entered the empty wine shop. Literally no one was there, not even any staff. So after a few minutes we walked out and tried unlabeled door number two. This door opened up to a very busy wine bar. Every table was full, the bar area was mobbed, and we had to squeeze into a couch in the corner. They were hosting two large private parties as well as a wine tasting, and the few others were other non-related guests. It was definitely an older crowd and one that seemed ready to drop big dollars on expensive and rare wines. Service My biggest issue with Wine Watch is the complete confusion and lack of communication from the staff. First they need to do something about their hours. Incorrect and misleading information nearly led us to turn around. My understanding from a staff member was the wine bar hours are 2pm to midnight on the weekends, but he couldn't state it with any confidence. Next, they need to make sure they are properly staffed. With events going on they did not have nearly enough people on the floor. Finally, coordination with the similarly owned wine shop would be helpful. If not a person, at least a sign should explain the procedure allowing you to grab a bottle next door and bring it over. They also initially forgot to charge us for the bottle, so clearly something is off. It was really this chaos that dampened an otherwise pleasant experience. Parking The location has its own good sized parking lot that is shared by the retail store and wine bar. Street parking also seemed like a possibility in the area. Extra I want to like Wine Watch more than I do. This place is clearly created by people who love everything about wine, the prices for wine are decent, and the decor is fantastic. However, it is tough to promote a place where you don't know the hours and they don't have an appropriate sized or coordinated staff. They mentioned recent upgrades and changes, so maybe it just needs time to find a groove. The potential is absolutely there, but not the execution. read more

We had a private seating in the cellar with a group of 8 and the night did not disappoint! The building is very unassuming, and if you don't know which door to go in for your private event, you could walk in on a group that is confused to see you... as you can guess, that happened to me. Once I found the right room with my friends, I was pleasantly surprised by how pretty the cellar is and overwhelmed by the number of bottles and selections in front of me. The owners are very nice and will talk to you about wine for hours if you'd like or they will just give a couple of recommendations and be out of your hair. The rest of the staff is equally nice and accommodating. We were given champagne when we walked in and then had 3 wines in front of us to try with each course that came out. All three courses were wonderful and one of my friends knew to ask for the shoestring fries which were a highlight. I choose sea scallops at my entree instead of a short rib. I got to try both and I think I chose correctly. The grilled salad was also very good. We finished with a chocolate creme brulee which I don't think I ever had and it was mouthwatering. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. The pricing is high especially when you start choosing some of those lovely bottles they have but it's a great option for a special occassion. read more

I had a nice evening with some girlfriends here; having never been to a wine bar before, I was impressed! This place is all about wine to the very last detail. The exterior walls are made from the wine crates for crying out loud! This place serves an exquisite assortment of wines in an intimate and cozy environment; even though it is chilly (because you are basically in an environment that is serving as the cellar) it is still cozy due to the decor and atmosphere. Staff is very friendly and informative. I don't know much about wine, and they provided me with a lot of information to tempt me into tasting one of their rieslings, which I could not resist ordering a glass. I may have to come back to purchase the entire bottle! Although this place is sophisticated, the staff is not at all condescending, nor are the guests. There was a nice mix of adults at the time we went. We started at the bar and then the staff set us up at a table. Behind us there were guests partaking in a pricey wine tasting. We ordered some appetizers and a charcuterie board. Everything was picture perfect. I tried the flatbread with chicken and we shared the mountain of fries. Both were delicious. I was not a huge fan of the meat selection on the charcuterie board. This place would get 5 stars if they had had better prosciutto and cheese. For the price and atmosphere, you would think they'd have better quality meats and cheeses to accompany the wines. I have had more delicious prosciutto from Publix, the Boar's Head brand. Overall, this was a pleasant experience and I would return, albeit on a full stomach. This is not a good place for a dinner. I will start with the fact that this place has really great wine bottles to purchase. However, we went for a wine tasting which turned out to be a total event planned to advertise a wine tasting called the American fine wine competition. We paid $45 for this particular event only to be met with two tables set up for wine. The first was a Michael David table with five wines which was divine. The second table was hosted by someone from Wine Watch or the event they wanted us to spend money on. That event cost $300 to which they were giving us a discount of $50 if we purchased tickets that night. We did not want to go to that event. The lady was pushing us to buy tickets with each initial pour of wine and propaganda designed to make us feel guilty every time we wanted to taste another wine bottle. To boot, they had given us a list of wines they were showcasing, only to be met with denials by the wine lady as to her not wanting to open a bottle that was on the list. After we asked for several bottles to be opened, she blatantly said that these bottles were leftovers form last year's American fine wine competition and that really the purpose of this event was to get us to go to the other event. They had a table of small delicious appetizers but we were made to feel like we should not be there if we were not shelling out another $250 to taste 'over 700 bottles of wine'. At the end of this event we asked for her to allow the representative from Michael David wines to open a bottle of his own stash of Inkblot and she completely ignored us and the guy felt bad and opened it anyway. Not a friendly atmosphere at all! And if you're trying to push another event then don't hold a half ass one and expect people to buy another event ticket when your attitude was less than inviting and derogatory. read more

We went for whatever bottles we wanted and found 1 we really like and will purchase in stores now. Wow!!!!! So unassuming from the outside, but when you open those doors you are immediately transported to a whole new world of wine heaven. The staff is so knowledgeable and welcoming. First time here at Wine Watch and it exceeded my expectations.. The wine cellar has it all then just take over what you bought to the restaurant and have them cork it.. We did the happy hour thing where you share your bottle with other people and try different wines from all over the world. Thomas took great care of us at both the bar and our table.
