Yum!!! I was on the drive back to South Florida and we decided to stop by for dinner. Only a short drive from I-75 (maybe 10 minutes?), so not too out of the way. It's a cute little outdoor seating restaurant right on the water with gorgeous views of the houses on the lake. There is also a bar across the way. I had one of the specials, tempura fried soft shell crab. It was delicious. Lightly fried and topped with a creamy mayo based sweet sauce. My boyfriend had the fried grouper sandwich with bacon, Swiss and sautéed onions added. Both entrees were amazing! I also got the frozen pina colada which I would not recommend. read more

This is probably my favorite my favorite sea food restraunt if you want to splurge then this is your best bet. Tonight , I had the boulibase and it consists of: lobster, muscles , shrimp, scallops, and garlic bread. P.S: this place is a dive but worth it Now for my experience: We walked into an old Florida style shack. Our waitress new what she was doing and was so nice and amazing . Place was packed and I sat right near the hostess station for an hour before I got called to a table for four people. Literally watched a few parties come in after us get their names out on the top of the wait list before ours and get right in to eat while we sat there for an hour for a table and watched the whole thing unfold. A large party of twelve came in 20 minutes after us and he clearly knew the owner and got a table before us!!!! if ur going to give favors to people make sure your guests didn't blab to their other rich friends in their party that they have connections. Wanted to love this place so much but we didn't. 3 of 4 in our party got the battered shrimp. It wasn't good. Mostly batter with a little shrimp mixed in. There was so much fried batter that I didn't feel well afterwards. My son got the hamburger and he said it was good. The service was just ok. Overall a disappointment sadly. read more

My mom LOVES to eat on the water. She isn't a fan of seafood (basically a crime), but will eat wherever I can find a place I'd like to try as long as there are a couple options for her to choose from. We had a recommendation for this place, so came for dinner with a view. We sat out on the deck and had some bird friends join us for dinner stalking our food - fun to watch. I ordered the peel and eat garlic shrimp and the special tempura fried lobster. Both were pretty good. My mom got a black bean burger and the bun was very stale. We also shared the key lime pie based on the reviews, but both thought it was just ok. I've seen some pretty amazing specials posted (one had been a sautéed snapper with what looked like a corn salsa for lunch the day we came, but they were out), so I'd go back to try more! read more

Grossly disappointed in our visit to this place. We'd been before and affectionately remembered it being great tasting fresh food with friendly service. We arranged to meet someone there at 12:30 - we arrived early and joked that as it was 12:05 we could stop at the bar while we waited. Our party pulled in right behind us, so at 12:05 ish we entered and were seated immediately. At around 12:20 I politely asked a woman server if we could have someone stop over at our table as we'd been sitting a while. (around 15 minutes). In a very loud, angry voice she told me that we were only there for 3 minutes and she'd be with us shortly. Then she pointed to another table that she was taking care of and said they were here before you and they haven't been here for 3 minutes. Needless to say, they weren't and had we not all joked about being so early in the parking lot I probably wouldn't have been so taken aback. The point was to try and get service, the 15 minute wait wasn't horrible as we were catching up... the awful, mean spirited response was inappropriate. The rest of our meal was slammed around and rushed because she kept making snide remarks about our being in a hurry. The food was just generally bad, certainly not what we remembered - no need to elaborate. We nodded our heads, ate what we could and in the spirit of respecting people in the service industry left a 20% tip because the argument that would have ensued should we dare say something wasn't worth the effort. I see there are other reviews that mention rudeness and anger -in today's world many people are struggling to make ends meet - this is not somewhere I will return to or recommend. read more

We stopped here for lunch on New Year's Day. Talk about just OK!! Everything here was just "OK". The food, service and atmosphere were "OK". Not great and not bad. Grouper sandwich and French fries "OK" . Ahi salad "OK". Probably would never make a point to stop there, but if you're passing through at lunch time it would suffice. We love being just a mile away from this restaurant! Service is spotty, but it's generally forgiven because the food is just SO good. Everything I have had here is fresh and delicious - if you can, stop in for lunch (it's not as crowded) and try the calamari salad. read more

Years ago, on a trip to Florida, I happened to converse with the catering manager of an upscale restaurant and I asked her where the locals went to eat. She surprised me with her answer: Casey Key Fish House. I had never heard of this place, despite having traveled to the area numerous times over many years. I had to check it out! Down a narrow road, across a single-lane draw bridge, Casey Key Fish House sits on the water's edge, and has a dock for boaters to moor there and enjoy a meal. It's an unassuming place. The plates are plastic, the napkins paper, and the glasses disposable. And the food is fantastic! The waitresses are friendly, t-shirt clad (there are t-shirts for sale, too) and knowledgeable. Daily specials abound, and I invariably order one. On my last trip, one of the specials was grilled sole in a lemon caper sauce. I've never had a bad meal here, and this was no exception. Served with rice and broccoli, and a slice of garlic bread, the fish was delectable! I passed on the terrific Key Lime Pie dessert and opted for a slice of chocolate mousse pie. My coffee with dessert capped the meal, and it was fresh-brewed. The total cost for my lunchtime repast was around $20. Not McDonald's cheap, but not McDonald's food, either! I've heard it said that Stephen King, the author, has a home on Casey Key. I can't confirm this, but on one occasion when I came to dine (there are lines out the door during high season), there was a very snazzy Rolls-Royce parked in the sandy lot. The place may be "old Florida" style, but the food is fabulous, and if one has to wait for a table, well worth it! read more

We are foodies and like fresh, thoughtfully prepared meals that really hit the spot. We did not find this at Casey Keys. It seems to be a joint catered toward drink and fun, and the food comes across as a bit of an after thought. We went for a late dinner and sat inside, and found the atmosphere lacking for our dare we say refined taste. Service was efficient, not friendly, but it was a busy night. The black bean burger had good texture, and topped with blue cheese dressing good flavor. The mussels in butter wine sauce were enjoyed, Caesar salad with mahi mahi was very okay, the highly recommended catch of the day served with mashed potatoes and carrots was easily forgettable. If you are looking for great food, we don't recommend this spot. read more

Has been one of our favorite restaurants, but they are NOT following CDC guidelines or even Florida Health recommendations with regard to Covid-19. No masks and no real social distancing. They have also been somewhat hostile to people raising the issue. read more

My wife's favorite place to eat around Sarasota. Had lunch this year and she got her favorite almond crusted snapper. Also came with rice and delicious cooked cabbage. The sides change daily but they are always good. It's not a fancy place but you eat right on the water and it's a great view. All outside dining but that's part of the charm. read more

I was invited to eat lunch here by family friends. It looked like a great idea (fresh fish with a view on the water) but NONE of the servers and NONE of the cook staff (or any other staff) were wearing masks! Our server was about 18" away from us us while taking our orders - NO MASK. I got up to wash my hands in the bathroom and passed by the kitchen and NO ONE was wearing a mask (or gloves). NOT ONE SINGLE EMPLOYEE WAS WEARING A MASK - NOT EVEN ONE person! One of the servers (NO MASK) mistakenly put a cup of lemons on our table which we thought were for our iced tea so we took a couple, but then a different server (NO MASK) came by and took the cup of lemons away and gave it to the table right next to us (chair backs only spaced 2 feet or so apart). The menus are pre-COVID pieces of paper with a thin lamination, and the lamination was cracked, worn, dirty and sticky. The attitude demonstrated at this restaurant - that COVID is supposedly a non-existent hoax - is extremely inconsiderate of the patrons and the community. BEWARE!!! read more

One lady yelling "who's got pot" at the top of her lungs, and then found someone and went onto their boat to smoke. Then she returned to throw ice across the bar at people! Casey Key Fish House is one of the best casual waterfront restaurants in the area. The ambiance is casual, margaritaville style. There are terrific views of Dryman Bay to the south - ospreys, egrets, leaping mullet and sheepshead under the dock. There's a tiki-bar and a dock for boaters. (We keep Perspective just a stone's throw away at the Osprey Harbor Marina.) I've always found the servers to be busy but attentive and friendly. Every now and then they might miss something, but in general they're pretty good. The place is clean, but it IS on the water and open-air in some places. It's not uncommon for an egret to perch up beside your table, or the occasional cucaracha to scurry in a corner. The restaurant must be judged on its own terms. Gin and tonics are generous, and there are a number of other Florida style cocktails and beers. The wine selection is generally poor, but they have at least one drinkable chardonnay. Their sandwiches are delicious, though admittedly a blackened grouper sandwich is about the same anywhere. I've had several entrees that are also very tasty - including regular varieties of the mainstay regional trio - grouper, mahi and snapper. Beyond that, one of the things I most appreciate is the regular occurrence of other local catches - from wahoo to pompano to amberjack. That alone pulls my rating from high three to solid four territory. read more

The tables were not cleaned after people left, they placed ketchup, salt and pepper shakers on tables and left them there for all diners to use. Employee wrapping silverware in napkins without gloves. Not sure if employees are were even tested for COVID. If you're wishing to catch Covid, this is the place. read more

Good stop for boating Ok, been here many times. It has a great tiki bar and they play music, sometimes. It has that, tucked away, vacation vibe which I always enjoy. Seems to have a 'regulars' crowd, or maybe it's just known with the locals. With the docks out there, it's a good stop for boaters to drop by. Pulled up once, earlier in the day and there were giant sand sculptures there, as in the real deal professional. A week later I saw a TV show about making the sculptures, and the local speed boat racer who lives here ( some of you know him) was on the show. Kinda cool. As for food, they grouper, snapper and mahi baskets are good. Basic sandwich, fries, slaw, good for soaking up the beer from boating imo. peel and eat shrimp is good and the wings are not bad at all. It's not high dining, and it's not supposed to be. Take it for what it is and at that, I'd say they do a good job. Service: I've never had anything less than friendly service, attentive and smiling. Went there Saturday night around 6 PM and was astonished to see not a single employee wearing a mask, no personnel in the kitchen wearing a mask and 90% of the patrons walking in and around with no masks. Sat down at a table, looked the situation over and got up and left. This is my 2nd time to Casey Key Fish House, I just couldn't remember the name, and where it was. My 2nd time finding it was by driving through Casey Key coastline. I'm glad we did. Food: The food was fresh. The side dishes that came with the food is kept simple, rice, carrots and zucchini. We had the calamari to start with. (fresh, but the server forgot the lemon). Then the almond snapper, pan seared $18.99 (encrusted with almonds and topped with lemon butter. Very nice flavors and texture. The lobster tail $29.99, broiled served with butter. Had to ask for lemon, but lobster tails were fresh and tasty! Service: Although the server was nice person, she forgot to put in our order of clam chowder, which I reminded her after she served our entree. I had to ask for a refill on our water. She told us the lobster came with mashed potato, the lobster came with rice. I think it was because it was close to closing time, and seemed to be busy all evening, and they were winding down. But she was friendly and did recommended the almond salmon. Overall, a pleasant experience, just like the first time, a few years ago. A casual and laid back atmosphere. Such a yummy spot. Last night my family and I enjoyed a casual dinner here and the food was fresh and fantastic! Our large party was easily accommodated, and we had an infant and child with us. Not one server in this place was wearing a mask. Not even a bandana or one of the face shields. They wore absolutely no face covering of any sort. We are in the middle of a global pandemic and seeing as though this restaurant is in Florida, with over 400k cases of COVID-19, restaurants should really be more considerate of not only their customers but their employees. Additionally, the food is average at best. The staff is rude and always seemed to be annoyed. The manager I spoke to regarding the mask usage was rude and told me I was wrong for suggesting they need to be wearing masks. There is no reason you should risk getting and spreading COVID-19 for this average food and horrible service. Don't waste your money or time on this place. I will not be returning and I suggest you don't either. read more

Great place on the water for a bite to eat!! Hostess was a bit rude and indifferent when my mother and I arrived but ignoring that the staff were friendly and attentive. We had mussels for appetizers which were great and I had the fish tacos which were messy and delicious! While we ate we could watch charter boats docking or leaving for tours and just watch the birds on the water. Nice casual atmosphere for dining. If you're looking for something more Margaritaville just go across the parking lot and the Tiki Hut bar looked like the place for that vibe. LOL! We were stuffed from dinner so no reviews on dessert.
