Zephyr worked with my husband and I throughout the entire process. He coordinated all new plumbing and electrical re-wiring (with a licensed plumber and electrician), made suggestions when we were trying to mitigate a fast-paced decision making process, and executed the work on-time and on-budget. Being involved in the trade, I cannot stress enough how difficult it is to find a contractor who is reasonably priced and does the job right. I will be working with Zephyr again on my next project. We bought a fixer upper in 2008, and immediately hired a contractor to update our bedroom and bathroom. They burned us, and left us with leaks throughout the house. We ended up finishing the project ourselves, but not aware of some of the leaks and damage left behind. After this experience, we were hesitant to try again, hearing so many other peoples horror stories of their own with contractors. Finally the leaks became too much, and we needed to address them as well as move on with construction of our home. We were referred to Zephyr, and after his recent completion of our kitchen, we have already asked him to put us at the end of his list for our next project. What it will be, we haven't decided yet. But we have a whole house for him to repair, so we have something that needs to be done no matter what the order of repair is. Zephyr is very straightforward, and he is a perfectionist. He will give you advice along the way, and you should listen to him. He ripped out our kitchen, found multiple issues with leaks coming from our bedroom above (where the previous contractors installed french doors improperly), so he addressed that by taking out the doors and installing a new wall with windows. He replaced all our support beams in the kitchen, as well as added support so that we could build out on the 2nd floor. We told him our goals for the house in the long run and he prepared the house for those projects while working on it now. For example, we want to add a bathroom to our bedroom, so while he had the walls ripped open, he planned where the pipes would go and built enough room in that wall so that his next job would be prepped. Zephyr said he would have our kitchen done in 2 months and he delivered. Mitchell Custom Concepts may give you a higher quote than other contractors around, but they are worth every penny. Your project will be done properly, and by people who know what they are doing. Zephyr's whole team is great to work with. Whether Mike or Ian are at your house finishing something up, you can rest assured you are in good hands. Zephyr's vendors he uses for windows, floors, materials are all vetted and you know you will get quality materials/work from anyone he uses. We especially love our floors. Zephyr had his floor guy come in to sand and lacquer our floors, and I am beyond happy with the result. Before Zephyr and his team worked on my home, our basement would flood with 1-3 inches of water during rainstorms. Now, we don't get any standing water at all. Zephyr understands that your house is an investment, and he will address your biggest problems first, then work his way out. With us, he addressed all our leaks before we did any cosmetic work. I live on a pretty nosey South Philly street where all my neighbors watch whats going on with the rest of the neighbors all day long. Well, all I heard from my neighbors was "Your contractor was bringing in big pieces of lumber today. You must be getting a lot done!" "your contractor was here all day working!" and "Those guys working on your house are working hard. You must have hired good people". Yeah, we did hire good people.

Tim said he'd get back to me and let me know when he could get us on the schedule. That was a month ago. I can't speak the quality of their work, but I can objectively say there is a fair chance the company will waste you time and then not show you the respect of calling you back. I understand if they were too busy for the job or didn't want it for some reason, but not why Tim disrespected us, wasted our time, and acted unprofessionally by agreeing to do the jobs in the first place. I'd recommend starting with another contractor with more reviews and an established reputation of professionalism. Edit: (Post Owner Reply) My review of Hallmark is similar because I had a similar experience. I described my experience accurately and honestly in both cases. You didn't challenge any of the material details of my review. A semantic argument about the definition of "ghosting?" I don't consider you telling me you'd get me on the schedule after accepting your bid and then not scheduling the work "a mutual dodge." I consider it an objectively unprofessional waste of my time. You were secretly offended by me getting multiple bids on a large job? Really? At the time, you said it was fine. I guess that wasn't honest. The bottom line is, attention to small details makes or breaks a job when it comes to home renovation. When a contractor shows you they can't get large details right (Like remembering to schedule your job after meeting and multiple calls discussing the job), that speaks to how likely they are to get the small details of the work right. This fact is something that might inform a lot of people's decision when choosing a contractor. Thank you for admitting you dropped the ball.

Vince appeared knowledgeable & Cindy is amazing at picking out materials that coordinate. We were told that an electrician/plumber would be consulted. He had 1 helper. Big picture shows amazing dream bathroom. Closeups show frightful workmanship & future costs will be an ongoing nightmare. Cintex said he would do punch list /repairs, however, we lost trust in his workmanship due to numerous errors & poor quality of work. Breach of Contract: Original flooring was not completely removed & new flooring & tile were placed on top of 2 original layers. Plaster on back outside shower wall & behind toilet was not removed. Trim around entrance door was not completely removed or redone. Base board heat line was not relocated but left buried behind new tile wall in shower. Insulation in new shower wall or any outside wall was not done. Walls/ceiling were spackled but not paint ready. Tile in shower was not to ceiling. Substandard Workmanship: Plumbing work substandard/not to code. Cintex cut support lines to main septic line pipe & did not replace them. Placement of vanity cabinet, ceiling fan, & electrical outlet needed to be redone as measurements were incorrect. GFI electrical outlets were not used. A box was not used to attach ceiling fan to beam. Live electrical box to power 2 high hat lights was left behind tiled shower wall & no access. No support blocking was put in shower & bench walls to install safety bars. Appropriate waterproofing of shower wall & floor is questionable. Wrong color grout was used on shower walls, shower shelf & shower bench! Grout work is uneven, lumpy, & full of holes & gaps. Thinset/grout is not cleaned off tile on walls/floor. Grout repairs were made by Cintex with wrong color grout. Cintex suggested we tape off & paint gap between ceiling & tile in shower. Permanent red marker was used to mark off measurements on walls/floor/bench/shelf & not removed. Many chips in tile in shower. Shower Shelf is a disappointment & not an eye catcher. Closet door has crooked gap at the top & handle latch was not set flush with door frame. Entrance pocket door handle was not set flush & can't be repaired without replacing whole door. Nail holes in wood trim were not filled in. We hired a separate plumber to set toilet because tile was not cut properly to set wax flange to mount toilet securely & would leak into basement. We did not trust Cintex to set toilet properly as he was going to do it himself & not use a licensed plumber. Main/Hand held shower wall mounts were set & sealed improperly with silicone. Diverter wall mount in shower was set off wall & gap was filled in with silicone. Cintex said to cut out tile to do repair. We suggested to make an access panel from the closet wall behind it. Wall mount diverter is still not flush to wall & is coming apart. Vanity sink was NOT vented so sink does not drain properly & will become bigger problem in future. Drywall was put in on top of heater behind toilet & over plaster that was supposed to be removed. Cintex told us to go to Home Depot to get new heater covers on our own since he tried unsuccessfully to put back original covers. We had to cut 5 inches of new drywall out above heater fins ourselves & then have a plumber install new heater covers. Air conditioning vent was left in shower & not relocated. Exhaust fan was not properly attached to ceiling joist in attic. We gave Cintex a chance to do some repairs & after losing trust in his workmanship we had no choice but to keep him from doing further damage. Last issue is concerning licensure & following codes. Cintex does not have an electrical/plumber license. His tiling, plumbing, & electrical workmanship was substandard. We had outside inspections done & will need extensive work to have quality restoration done, bring his work up to code, make it safe, & avoid future breakdown/repair problems. Pictures of his tile work were shown to the store where tile was purchased & their comment was "It looks like a DIY job". Finally, a major leak in handheld shower line was caused by Cintex's incompetent workmanship. He denied that he could be at fault & refused to fix it. Pictures & an outside licensed plumbing repair bill prove that it was his fault. We lost our trust in Vince's ability to do quality & lasting workmanship, make competent touchups/repairs. Concerns: Safety of his work as he did not use licensed electricians or licensed plumbers, future problems that have started, & are going to happen because of Cintex's inferior workmanship. We have to hire qualified specialists to repair/restore our Master Bathroom Nightmare. Our Advice? Stretch Construction completely redid our kitchen--helping us turn a 1960s nightmare into a…read moregorgeous homeowner's dream. It was not a small job! We had the original, outdated cabinets, appliances, flooring, and windows to deal with. Justin did an incredible job with the demo first (getting everything out with no damage to the house; cleaning up along the way; getting the dumpster delivered and then removed.) Every time I came home, I was delighted to see that the space was swept and safe for my daughter and our dog to walk through. After the demo, Justin quickly moved into flooring, plumbing, and cabinet installation. Every single construction job requires pivots. The key is how your contractor handles unforeseen changes WHEN they come up (because they do.) When our cabinets were delivered with 6" of additional width (our outside cabinet partner's fault!) Justin quickly helped pivot and reflow the layout to fit the space. What would have set us back three weeks was reconfigured and fixed within three hours. The final product is absolutely GORGEOUS. Everyone who visits asks who did the work. It is a joy to recommend someone as detail-oriented, kind, and talented as Justin. We will be working with him on any future projects and cannot recommend him enough.

He redid our kitchen - floor tiles, new cabinetry, backsplash. For the floor he took out the (huge) fridge, oven, dishwasher and the cabinets to tile properly to the wall underneath them. We got our countertops from Ikea and he was flexible fitting in around their schedule. And for the backsplash he did a really great job: Everything aligned correctly even though we picked mini subway tiles which were really awkward to cut (see photos). He also went to the warehouse without complaint when it turned out I hadn't bought enough tiles. Oops. Really nice guy, will definitely ask him again if the need arises.
