Texans here! We're staying down the street for the weekend and are very happy we stopped in for breakfast and coffee. For drinks we got the hot dulce de leche and iced latte with 2 pumps marshmallow. For food we got the chorizo, egg, cheese, papas burrito; bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich; and the cream pan strawberry pastry! All of it was great! Second time try is worth the wait! We had come for lunch yesterday at 1:40, but they were closed. They supposedly close at 2, so we left, but returned today. The owner or manager welcomed us, and made recommendations! He was extremely welcoming and took the time to make recommendations. We've visited Casitas Cafe a few times since moving here last year and it is consistently good!! First time we tried out coffee, a pastry and lunch. My coffee was not what I was expecting and when the owner asked if everything was okay I was honest about it, he said the one I chose isn't always a favorite but he'd like to make me his favorite coffee. He made me a horchata latte and it was amazing!! The pastry we had was delicious and though we were served a fiesta bowl instead of a burrito the bowl was fantastic!! I've been back for coffees and pastries a few times and today I visited again for lunch. We had 2 fiesta bowls to-go, one w chicken and one w carnitas. They're great, I definitely recommend!! I am so happy that I found this place, basically in the middle of nowhere! I feel like it's the best cafe in Ruidoso with the best coffee that isn't inferior to coffee shops in big cities. The variety of unique flavors is impressive, not just the basic caramel latte. I definitely recommend trying their Abuelita Mocha with the homemade dark chocolate ganache with cayenne pepper. But the coffee itself is very delicious - we finished their 9-cup card in like three days. Casitas is a perfect place for breakfast and lunch. We tried the Cubano Burrito, which was pretty good with the dominant taste of scrambled eggs. The Southwestern Avocado toast was not my cup of tea (not salty and with a lot of spices). The absolute love is the Breakfast Bano with smoked pulled pork - an explosion of flavor with a perfect balance. If you're on a sweet breakfast team, the açai bowl is delicious as well. I am always searching for pastries on all my trips, and here I found the most high-end pastries possible for Ruidoso. The Nutella housemade pop tart, the cheese danish, and the eclair with vanilla cream filling and matcha cream and raspberries on top - all were incredibly tasty! What I see as an area for improvement is the serving speed. It seems like they have a limited staff, so it takes them quite a while to accept and accomplish your order. Absolutely fantastic experience at Casitas Cafe! We indulged in a variety of dishes - chicken fiesta bowl, pork fiesta bowl, steak burrito, and the açaí bowl with chai pudding - each bursting with flavor and generous portions. The açaí bowl was a standout, with the perfect blend of flavors and delightful granola. Even the salsa impressed! To top it off, the lattes were hands down the best in town. If you're looking for a good cup of decaf, this is not the place. I cannot tolerate caffeine any longer and because I love the taste and aroma I drink decaf. This was the weakest cup of $3.75 coffee I've had in years. What a wonderful, spirit-filled little cafe. My favorite worship jams were playing in the background, great house-brewed coffee, and family-like customer service. I waited a while for my Cuban burrito, which I highly recommend, but I did not mind at all. The owners take pride in executing every thing that comes out of that kitchen with the utmost care and excellence. Quality over quantity. And that takes time, especially when you're training new hires. They made sure to refill my coffee while I waited, came to give me a heads up and chatted with me a while. I told the owner I prefer black beans to pinto peans and that and the corn came from his native background. The salsa was excellent, tasty but not too hot. What a delightful find in Ruidoso, NM! We wanted something healthy and fresh and this cute cafe exceeded our expectations. The couple who opened Casitas a year ago are so kind and helpful. We ate there twice on our vacation. The southwestern burrito was so flavorful! All the pastries can be addicting especially the homemade pop tarts. Where can you get an acai bowl for $8?? Not where we are from! My littles loved the unicorn hot chocolate and the gold rush was ordered several times I also bought two artesian sourdough loaves and I'm eating one now! So good! This place will be SUPER busy once everyone knows about it. I would recommend having more than one menu as many people were entering and had to share. I think it would be helpful to have pictures posted next to the menu descriptions. If you don't look at yelp or IG you wouldn't know what you were ordering and you MIGHT miss out! Great food and a great atmosphere, however we waited about an hour for our food and there were not too many people at the restaurant. Note that the menu does have limited options for breakfast. My honest review and I'm just trying to help the owner of this establishment here, it could of been a 5 star of 5, your food was amazing and delicious it's really top quality and good price. The problem was the waiter guy we got he probably was not focused and distracted, I had to get up and fold my own silverware when we received our food 45 min later, he coughed in my face and in front of the silverware without covering his mouth or apologizing. He did not check on us if everything came out good or if we needed anything, he gave the roundabout their menu to everyone except us , plates came in faster for other customers who arrived way later than us. Excellent food and beautiful little cafe just your man with a black hat and black shirt did not deliver on their service 2/25/2024 came in at 11:00 am. This little place is amazing! I work out at the gym next door and noticed there was usually a full parking lot. Well today my boyfriend and I took the plunge after our workout and came over for breakfast. We were so impressed! The menu has lots of healthier options, both savory and sweet.
