Infrequently I buy coffee just to remind myself why I make my own at home. I ordered a Large sugar-free vanilla soy latte, my go-to for decades when hanging out in airports waiting for flights. No sugar-free vanilla, but about a dozen other flavors. No big. I picked sugar-free caramel substitute. Sticker Shock +$7!!! Plus $1 tip!!! Yikes! But hey, I was going to enjoy a rare treat. Drink arrived in a half-full medium cup! But hey, rare treat, right? Foam disappeared within seconds. But, hey, rare.... Soon returned for a refill of just light roast, but they only had dark roast, but hey.... I finally drew the line when a refill was $3.00!! Seriously? No #%&$ way! Keep your dark roast!! *** great little coffee shop in Ruidoso, New Mexico *** ENVIRONMENT This small coffee shop is located in a plaza on the left-hand side when you're headed towards Ski Apache on Mechem Drive (aka Hwy 48). During COVID restrictions (5/16/21), there were a few indoor spots to chill and use their WIFI. SERVICE The best in Ruidoso! I really appreciate their recommendations - I asked for them. MY FAVORITE PART... All of the drinks. I tried all of them except my brother's sweet tea. He had no complaints so everything was good! NOT SO FAVORITE PART... It's so far away from L.A. (where I currently live). Also - They close early in the day. I think on Sundays they close early - at like 2PM. THE DRINKS When I walked in, I told the nice lady behind the counter that I wanted latte, but I needed something on the sweet side that was different. Not a mocha or vanilla. She suggested the "nutty professor" I think it was called. I hadn't had any coffee per usual that morning and the 20oz. was perfect to curb any possible caffeine-less headache. I also told her I had three young kids in the back seat who just went hiking with us. They deserved a special treat for doing so good. She suggest Italian sodas. I chose a 16 oz. watermelon for the flavor since I knew they all liked that. They loved all the whipped cream at the top. It shut them up on the short drive back to our cabin. Lol. It was some good soda! All five drinks cost me just under $23 which I didn't think was bad considering the service was really friendly and fast. TIP They have some pastries on display plus a few breakfast and lunch items like sandwiches and burritos available too. Add green chile or pesto for $.75. PARKING Ample, free parking in a shared plaza lot. OVERALL I would choose this place over the Starbucks located on the other side of the road going the opposite direction any day. Such a cute little coffee shop in Ruidoso! I got an iced soy latte with agave syrup and it was amazing! The espresso is smooth and the people are super friendly. This town is used to tourists, so they answered my questions very nicely and they were very courteous. I also ordered a sausage breakfast burrito and it hit the spot. It's served to-go, but that's for your convenience and you can take it to a table in the cafe. It was very tasty and had the perfect amount of green chile, and it had some good salsa on the side. Lastly, we split a cinnamon muffin and the strudel and they were both super tasty. I recommend getting them warmed because it'll make them that much more tasty! Seriously the best coffee I've ever tasted and the cutest coffee shop to enjoy it in. I came here 3 times every single morning on my trip to Ruidoso because the coffee is that good. My iced Caramel Zocciato was phenomenal. The flavor stayed consistent every single time. The balance of espresso, milk, and caramel was just right and not too overpowering. We had order two paninis, we gave them time we checked back in 30mins to check on food, they said it would be out shortly in reality they forgot about our order. Other customers were getting their food. We went back again 15-20 mins later and same answer ur food will be out shortly we asked for a refund and that took them some time. The girl that took my order was sweet but as I got my coffee, I took a sip, and all I could taste was the espresso and milk with no flavoring. This is one of those places with gasoline tasting espresso that masks the taste by serving overly sweetened creamy massive drinks. Excellent expresso and super nice service. They are located in the movie theater right off of 84. The barista was quick, polite and went over the history of their building. The expresso was nutty, hot and strong. The restrooms are spotless and passed my wife's cleanliness requirement. If I could give this place a million stars, I would. I am in town from San Antonio and have to take my TEAS Test (nursing school entrance exam) and the wifi at the cabin could not handle the test load. I show up before they open and wait. Totally spacing Covid restrictions, I assumed that I could post up for the next 4 hours and take the test. The sweet barista lets me know I can sit inside but offers me a table and chair to sit outside and use the wifi!!! I was beyond excited. It's a but chilly out here, but I am just happy to have a place to do this thing. 10 mins into sitting here the barista walks up to me with a blanket and a small heater!! She tells me to get warm, relax, and concentrate on my test. Of course I bust into tears of gratitude and thank her profusely. The Lavender Latte is also amazing. We like Zocca Coffee, and have been going there for several years. My husband is there almost 7 days a week - and usually orders the House blend of coffee, along with a muffin. For me, the latte's are outstanding ! We also use their ground decaf coffee ( take out ) at home and it is excellent. They offer a lot of other items - like sandwiches, ice cream, pastries, and other coffee shop drinks. The service at Zocca is outstanding! The owners & staff go all out with service & generosity. This year Ruidoso has been in high fire danger. On several occasions, Zocca has offered comp. drinks to the firefighters who have worked the area fires. The atmosphere is nice. Free WiFi is available, and there is usually a good mix of coffee house music playing in the background. I would highly recommend it. read more
