I was amazed by how responsive and profession the staff at Western Home Builder are. Sandra was responsive and professional during my move out inspection. I also want to say I was incredibly impressed by their maintenance man, Kirk. He had redone the home before I rented it and it was done so well! Took almost 2 months to get a brand new washer fixed with little to no follow up from management. Frustrating to say the least and just as a FYI there are no laundry mats in 29 Palms. 2. Whoever the new woman is working there (Sandra) could benefit from some email etiquette training. When your primary form of communication is via email it would benefit you to sound remotely professional. 3. Overall the management/owners were unprofessional and rude. I was continually confused about why I was asked to fill work orders out with details that were blatantly not reviewed prior to coming to the unit. Received email warnings about "excess animal waste" outside our unit when we didn't have a pet at the time. There aren't many options in 29 and it seems Western Home Builders seems to be aware of the lack of competition with how unprofessional they are. If you have to deal with them be prepared for some of the most subpar customer service there is and bring your patience because you'll need it.

This is a 55+ complex. Is it too much to ask for a senior citizen to behave like an adult? I've lived here twice, and the only reason I moved away was because of a job in Los Angeles. I moved back because of Cheryle and Ray, as well as the many wonderful tenants. Sunset Village is friendly, well maintained, and peacefully quiet, thanks to its guidelines. If you visit the place and meet Cheryle and Ray, you'll see that what I've written is true.

Place sort of looks nice but its ALL outside cosmetics =/ The apartments are shabby and run down. Carpet is cheap and trashed in a couple of the places I looked at. Not to mention some of the interior workings needed a LOT of work! The property company and manager (not a terrible friendly person) expect a tenant to pay key deposits but do not change locks from past tenants. There is a hefty deposit and a tenant has to "professional clean" the carpets when they leave, not to mention a leaving tenant is expected to make the place 'livable' for the next tenant. SO what does the property company or manger do ? (Not much as far I as could tell) I talked with a couple people living there. Some just couldn't wait to get out of their lease. They claimed that the rental company agents were both rude and ditzy, and honestly I did find that to be basically true. I also noticed LOTS of BUGS! Oh wait, I was told the bugs were there because it was the desert and because of the cactus - EXCUSE ME?? Bugs are there because the property is not taken care of! Apparently the issue is a 'touchy" subject with not only the manager but the rental agents. Over all I was totally unimpressed with the place and the people handling it. It appears to have been built in the 70's and NO ONE has bothered with it except to get their money out of it. Guess that's why the 'turn over' there, people move in and find out just what the place really is like, then leave. GL in your search in this town, but DEFINITELY rent some place else!!
