We came back after our first visit and enjoyed again. Our waitress was great. Service was wonderful. Food was terrific as well as the drinks. So the run down of what we ordered. I had a rosé sangria, my husband the watermelon lemonade. They were so good, very flavorful and tasty as well as refreshing for a hot NY summer day. (NYers will know what I'm talking about.) We decided to get a few things since they're basically small plates/tapas. The watermelon salad was a bit bigger than I originally thought it would be, but was so good. The cheeseburger was good, a bit plain, but my husband enjoyed. Fries were also good, not overly salted. Fried pickles were good. They were a bit over-fried, but good. The sauce was so good. The cheesesteak egg rolls were good as well as the dipping sauce. Neither of us liked the mac n cheese, but I saw others enjoying it. Just wasn't my thing. Smores dessert... mmmmm it was very good. It has been ages and this was just for drinks at the bar....but the service was not very pleasant and I would say that the happy hour cocktails were poorly made. Bartender obviously didn't want to be there and the drinks didn't make it worth being there. Very cute and lively place on a Friday evening! Make sure to make a reservation for dinner hours because it was packed. We were lucky enough to get a table outdoors under a heater however the indoor seating is two stories with a bar. We only had drinks but the spicy blood orange margaritas were phenomenal! Service was great and did not rush us which was appreciated! We ended up not eating but everything that came out of the kitchen from the burgers to the Mac and cheese looked great! Stopped in for cocktails as I needed to kill an hour. Nice bar. Bar tender was sweet, and took care of me as I hung out. Bar denizens were cool adding to the cool vibe. The inside transports u somewhere else specially with their Halloween decor and hay, it gave me a southern field right away. Went there for a quick eat on my weekend trip to NYC and the quinoa bowl and pimento cheese were good but nothing to rave about. Highly recommend this cozy bar for some evening drinks, dinner or just a small bite! Great date night location or a place to catch up with friends over a drink. It's definitely on the louder side (but loved the playlist) and quite dark in the restaurant, but the ambience overall is fun and comfortable! My favorite part of the experience was the cocktail I ordered - the Blood and Spice - a spicy, refreshing tequila drink with blood orange. In addition to some drinks, we had some small bites including the pimento cheese and the okonomiyaki fries. Overall tasty dishes although the bread that came with the cheese dip was slightly overdone. The fries were really tasty and had a range of flavor to them, but were a bit too loaded up with toppings that they got a bit soggy in the middle. I'll probably order some different dishes next time as all of the entrees looked amazing, but I would absolutely come back for drinks and to taste more of the menu next time I'm in this area! read more

Had a great Wednesday night meal at Cask. My friend had been here before so she recommended it for food and drinks when we were in the area. It was the day after Christmas around 7:30 and it was busy, even on a day I expected restaurants and bars in Manhattan to be more empty than usual due to the holiday week. Luckily the lower table in the front was available - it is about the height of a coffee table so we had to bend down a little to eat. For drinks we started with the Great Gatsby (yum! I had 2 of these) and the Amigos Comeback (she thought it was too sweet). We decided to do a bunch of small plates so we could share. For reference there were 2 of us and had some food leftover - we would have been fine with one less dish: Crispy Brussels sprouts and Crispy potatoes were both amazing and great sized portions. The BBQ pork flatbread was also a good portion - plenty of meat and comes with some salad on the side. The pork was tender and flavorful. I think it would have been better with less sauce. The pork itself didn't need a lot of sauce and the sauce made the dish as a whole a little salty. The three dishes above alone would have been enough for a satisfying meal, but our server said we may want one more so we ordered the fried chicken sliders. This was the only dish we didn't find "exciting". The fried chicken itself was good but I didn't really taste the remoulade . I never ever leave nasty reviews but I just received the most disrespectful service of my life i had a reservation for 3 at 2:45. We are a few minutes early and were told to wait by the bar and we did. At 2:50 the young lady told us we had a table outside. I made the reservation for indoors but whatever we were in a rush. We were sat a table that was secluded from the rest of the restaurant and there was a group of random girls standing by around us. The tables were lopsided and the chair they wanted me to sit on was wet. Unbelievable. We did not even sit at that table. The waitstaff looked at us and did not even acknowledge us standing there for 5 minutes. They did not bring water or offer assistance. We all left. If they try to bill me a cancellation fee I will dispute it because we were looking forward to eating there but will not be supporting businesses that mistreat us this way. read more

Loved that this place was decorated for Christmas and the holidays! The restaurant had a cozy feel to it. There is a bar when you first walk in and tables with chairs further back. There is also an additional bar and more tables downstairs. The drinks that we had were fantastic, but pricey. Most of the cocktails on their menu are $14. For weekdays, I suggest waiting for the happy hour to start at 3pm. The blood orange jalapeño margarita is on the happy hour menu for $8 (instead of $14). The blood orange jalapeño margarita was not overly spicy and had a great flavor of the jalapeño mixed slightly blood orange taste. I also had the amigos comeback which was tequila, triple sec, fresh pureed cucumber juice, and lime. This drink was great as well. I ordered the avocado BLT ($14). It came on a perfectly toasted country bread similar to sourdough with crispy bacon, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and an aioli. The portion was perfect for lunch. It also came with potato chips. The sandwich was delicious and I would order it again. Cask Bar + Kitchen's brunch on the weekends looks really appealing and I am interested in trying it out. I came here for dinner and really enjoyed my meal. We started with the truffle Mac & cheese which was great. It was very cheesy and the portion size was good. I also had the grilled cheese with French fries. The grilled cheese was huge (since they use 3 slices of bread) and it was so cheesy. It was amazing, but a little too much cheese. The bread was amazing, but it would have also been better with 2 slices of bread rather than 3. However, if you love grilled cheeses it is definitely worth trying this one. It's dimly lit so the vibe is cool and laid back, but don't think this means atmosphere over everything. The food here is quality stuff. The burger here rivals that of my favorite spot in Bay Ridge and the fries are crispy and salted to perfection. The price is pretty sweet considering the large portion. We came here on a Friday evening and were able to get a table outside immediately. I sat down and soon realized that the outdoor seating area was built at an angle. The table was up to my shoulders because of how steep the angle is--I ended up trading seats with my boyfriend so I was at the top of the hill. This was also an issue later when we ordered drinks because the table was so slanted that our drinks started sliding towards my boyfriend! I ordered the grilled cheese and it was honestly amazing. I'm always nervous about buying food I can easily make myself at home, but this sandwich was really that good. The fries were also good (they almost reminded me of McDonald's fries in the way that they're so addictive). My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork sandwich and he was a very big fan. Our drinks were great, especially because we ordered off the happy hour menu so they were $9 each. The food was great, I just probably won't eat in the outdoor area again. I didn't like how close we were to other guests--I could hear everyone's conversations and it was also just a very tight squeeze. For my main, I ordered the curry mussels which was by far the best dish at our table, but still missed the mark. The curry was a watery soup consistency. It had a nice minimal spice flavor, once I got past the mouth-drying amount of salt. The mussels were great, and at $20, they gave me a heaping pile of them. Do not reserve a table here. They may not honor it. I reserved an indoor seating table on Resy. When I got to the restaurant, they claimed I had reserved an outdoor seat. I double checked my reservation email and it was indeed for indoor seating. We were sat outside right under a heat lamp. However in 30F weather the heat lamp did little to nothing. We were both really cold. We also heard several other patrons sitting outdoors bring up with the server that they had reserved for indoor dining. This was not an isolated incident. The service wasn't great. When we noticed our unused glasses had literal lip stains on them(see photo), I was in the middle of notifying our server and she immediately took them away without acknowledging us or the glasses. The food was okay. We ordered the chicken pot pie, nachos and the burger. All nothing to write home about. The food got cold quickly in the weather so we didn't really get a chance to enjoy it.
