Stopped by for late lunch. After reading Yelp reviews wanted to try the Royal Reds. Ice cold bottle beer and Tiki Hubby and I shared the daily special of Royal Red platter. I know a lot of people avoid this place because of the liberal smoking policy, however, it wasn't that bad inside as the exhaust fan was constantly running. There is ample outdoor seating and I would take advantage of it do as to not miss the terrific food. My husband loves English pub style fish and chips and his dinner hit the mark as the owner is from England. I was also told by another patron her shepherds pie is memorable. I opted for a patty melt that was generous, juicy and probably the best in my lifetime. So if smelly smoke turns you off, sit outside and don't miss the delicious food. read more

My sister and I came upon this little secret gem of a bar/grill with outdoor seating that is not only pet friendly but they also have the cutest dog menu. Their prices are very reasonable and the service was fast and friendly, although no one is wearing a mask. We ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms and bbq shrimp to share and it was DIVINE!!! $8-9 each. Inside there are billiards and TVs. Met friends here. Place was very slow which was a good thing food and drinks came right out. The fried mushrooms were delicious and ranch dressing was homemade. Ive been coming to this place for a little while and the fish and chips is reminiscent of the northeast, where I'm from. People hate the smoke but I don't mind it because both my mom and stepdad smoke a lot but for someone who isn't used to it, it could be a little much. Went yesterday, (December 7th) around 11. Ordered a shrimp po-boy, told bartender instead of fry's I wanted hush puppies instead, (they were listed as a side of 6) and ordered a beer. She brought me a basket of shrimp and 2 hush puppies. I told her I ordered HPs and she said if you order them instead of fry's, this is what you get. She did offer to get me more but I wasn't too satisfied with them but didn't tell her. They just weren't that good. The other lady asked if I was done and said I didn't eat my shrimp, I told her I ordered a shrimp PB and was waiting for it. Two guys had ordered after me got their food. I was finishing up my second beer and asked for my check. She gave me a $18 bill. I said is that for the sandwich I didn't get. She looked at the bill and said she wrote it wrong. Just had the Royal Red Shrimp Platter on sale Sat. & Sun. for $13.00!!! It was so good it was almost a sin. Jumbo succulent shrimp cooked to perfection (easy to peel). Even good corn when most places still give you that big kernel old style corn, theirs is the smaller sweet corn. Potatoes were good, too, even though I don't care for potatoes - the dog loved them. Friendly service, a locals hang out during the week, but not so much on weekends. If you don't like the fact that smoking is allowed, sit on the patio. Any time, any day my favorite place down here. Nobody knows me cause I just moved into the area but EVERYONE is so nice. Mike and Amanda always make me feel at home. Everything I have eaten has been really good (or as in the $8 Prime Rib I had... it was well worth the cost). My favorite is the big ol' burger, Patty Melt. Anything fried I've had is good as well, especially the pickles. The salad dressings and potatoes are really good too. Extensive menu and REALLY, everything so far has been good. From Hattiesburg. On the way back home from the beach with my dog. Waitress was super sweet and provided my dog with an ice water bowl-which was good because it was super hot. The food ( the basic hamburger- hard to mess up? ) on the other hand tasted somewhat sour?? I told the waitress and " maybe you just don't like our food" We ended up just giving it to the dog and eating elsewhere. She stood over my shoulder while I was writing the tip which was really rude .Don't go inside if you deal with asthma or anything like that because you might get secondhand smoke cancer. Most disgusting place I have ever made the mistake of walking into. My hair wreaked of cigarette smoke for an hour after simply walking thru the joint. It was dark in the middle of the day, there were no servers or staff anywhere to be found, could barely breathe the air, how are they allowed to legally serve food here? They should be ashamed. I am shocked anyone would eat here. Gordon Ramsey needs to get ahold of this hell hole, but even then I don't know if he could help turn it around. This is a relaxed, kick-backed kind of place. The food is amazing and the alcohol selection great. The servers are excellent and very attentive - your glass won't be empty. Tuesday nights are Prime Rib special night, so that is what we ordered. The rub on this prime rib was phenomenal, just awesomely-delicious. The portions were very large, both Vicky and I had left-overs to take home. It was a week night so there were not many people at the bar smoking, which made it just a very good meal experience. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The house side salad was surprisingly good but the grilled Rueben was a little greasy and flavorless. This place makes its own dressings, they are thick and creamy and the ranch is great, the thousand island is not thousand islandy enough... It doesn't pop. The waitress said they cut there own corn beef, I believe her! I also believe it is cut from a big processed lunch meat type of hunk and not real unprocessed family style corned beef. I think they must have heated the meat in water, resulting in flavor loss. We would try this place again but it would be when there was live music and not on a Saturday afternoon. As we were in MS for business during the hockey playoffs, our search was narrowed to sports bars close to our hotel. After a failed attempt to go to Red Zone Grill due to remodeling, we were pleasently surprised by not only the laid back local vibe but also the food. We split the nachos (very good and well presented) and my fried shrimp Po'boy was delicious. My friends both had burgers and were happy with the flavor and portion size. Waitresses were exceptionally helpful (found our game AND put it on the TV closest to our table) and always on top of offering a refill before our glasses were empty. The only down side was that smoking was still allowed indoors, but it was a small price to pay for a chance to relax and watch the Caps game away from home.
