Now there are many attributing factors when it comes to the condition known as "Fresher Spread"…read more Every fresher gets it. Fat, that is. It's a combination of greasy college food, excessive drinking and Mr Deno's Kebabs (inextricably linked to excessive drinking). You get in the cab after a night out and instead of giving your college address, you say in a drunken slur, "Take me to Mr Deno's at the Ville." And it's all downhill from there. But oh how satisfying those kebabs are when all you've got in your tum is a big churning mess of alcohol. To sink your teeth into a Mr Deno's before stumbling home to college and falling in bed would have to be one of the most satisfying experiences, not be missed out on by any St Lucian collegiate. The fresher spread is even worth it!

Now I have to let you know that my rating for Mr Deno's Kebab and Pizza is really "Woohoo! As good…read moreas it gets AT 2AM IN THE MORNING!!!! When returning to St Lucia (the student suburb) after a late night out there is only one place to go to soak up the alcohol and that is Mr Deno's. Many a student has reached that point in the night where there is nothing better than a greasy kebab. In fact, all I remember from my student nights here is the wonderful full feeling of this fine product as it hit my goon filled stomach and gave me the strength to walk the hundred metres home and into my bed. The kebabs really are amazing, such that there is even a facebook page dedicated to them (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mr-Denos-Kebab-Shop/77734942575?sk=info) where you are encouraged to post photos of yourself devouring Mr Deno's kebabs and just be a part of the general awesomeness that is this Kebab shop. Mr Deno's Kebab and Pizza's hours change depending on the student calendar (they close earlier when it is not semester). Now I recommend not even looking at Mr Deno's during daylight hours. The "best kebab of your life" during the night quite easily turns into a very average kebab during the day. Keep Mr Deno's for those late nights and you will stay a fan!

Took us a while to figure out where we were and how to get there. Actually not hard at all. We arrived and it was very crowded. Luckily we got a seat in the corner by a window close to the action(the kitchen where the pizzas were cooked). A few slices of focaccia were served with olive oil prior to our pizza and its was wonderful. Then the main event arrived and it was beautiful. And it tasted equally as great. The sausage pizza with arugula. It was awesome. Might want to make a reservation for this great place. Its is very popular. Highly recommend the sausage pizza.

It was their website design that lured me in initially. We finally got around to giving it a whirl and frankly, I can't believe I waited so long to investigate their pizza menu. Before you pick up the phone to order or walk into the restaurant in Auchenflower forget all notions you have of take-away pizza. Try to remember the last time you ordered pizza that didn't have that dark, oily grease stain on the bottom of the pizza box? Our pizza boxes were remarkably void of this and I'm not surprised. The two pizzas we ordered (Pesto Lamb and Tasty Bill) were the least greasy pizzas I've ever had. I'm not kidding! The fresh ingredients and simple flavours don't come close to the delight I felt discovering not only do they offer gluten free bases but they actually taste akin to standard pizza bases. I've heard mixed reviewers of Two Sisters Pizza from friends but me personally? I'm a fan. While you'll pay a little more than a regular pizza chain I still consider them to be resonably priced. Better still I can keep my stomach from writing me hate mail by choosing a gluten-free option and above all else the pizzas taste great. Plus the friendly staff don't go astray.

If you live in or near Auchenflower, this is the place to get your pizza, I'll tell you that for nought. Two Sisters have a killer Supreme pizza to offer. The toppings are generous and add some oomph to an already satisfying classic pizza choice. You'll get leg ham, bacon, pepperoni, cabanossi, prawns, mushroom, green capsicum, red onion, kalamata olives, oregano all on one pizza! I would have to say the seafood menu is the pick of the lot. Your standard meat eaters menu is strong, and vegetarians won't suffer either, but the seafood menu is where it's at. I like to rip into the Chilli Prawn which is nothing more than prawns, basil, chilli, and parmesan, and ever so yum. I don't know I feel about dessert pizza, but you can try it on for size here. The pizzas come in small ($15), medium ($18), and large ($21). If you're feeling like pizza, go support this family run business. They're good at what they do, and they're miles better than more main stream pizza chains.

It has plenty of limitations, including its small size (a couple of tables, and a few more in the alley to the side, weather permitting) and small menu (smaller from a vegetarian perspective, and nonexistent if you don't do dairy or wheat). Also, being outdoors in this neighborhood, the crowd can be a bit sketchy. Nonetheless, it's often busy. What it has going for it is simply this: it's Italian. The people running it are Italian, they speak Italian, and they cook a tasty pizza. They aren't huge or filling pizzas, but the crust is crisp, the basil on top fresh, and comparing to the price of a decent pizza restaurant in this town, theirs are a good deal. I don't mind at all getting a margherita and heading elsewhere for dessert. I did not find the buffala a worthwhile upgrade over the margherita; costs more, less cheese, not better. I haven't tried their pasta but I imagine I will before too long. It's cash only, but this place does have the virtue of being open all day. It's common (and understandable) for restaurants to close during that dead mid-day time between lunch and dinner, but I have an irregular schedule and I appreciate the occasional 3 pm meal. And if you go then, you'll get a table. Friday night, you might not.

I visited Tuscany Supper Club two weeks ago and I have attempted to write the review several times…read moresince then but have had trouble. I think it is impossible to review TSC in my normal fashion as it is not actually a restaurant, it is an experience- as one of the other Yelpers said. I could tell you what we ate and what was absolutely incredible about each course and what minuscule flaw I found in them too, but there would be no point as your menu would be completely different any way. I loved TSC but the person I went with thought it was average. I loved that I was eating authentic Italian food cooked with fresh ingredients by an Italian family who welcomed us into their home. If you are unfamiliar with the way the evening goes, you essentially have a set menu, 3-4 courses, seat 10 people on one big table and enjoy the night together. I love this concept so much, if I were able to open my home up Id ask TSC if they'd allow a franchise. We sat with strangers, ate dinner, talked, laughed, learnt and had a lovely evening. The quality of the food is outstanding, the service is wonderful and you feel like you're at a dinner party with friends. I appreciate that this food experience is not for everyone, but if you are a "Foodie" or identify as a "Gourmands" and you live in Brisbane, you need to visit this place at least once. I'll be going again, if for no other reason to see what whacky people are there on the night with me.

It's not actually a "restaurant" as such, but an adventure…read more The Tuscany Supper Club is run by three adorable Italians who migrated to Brisbane a few years ago and then missed their family cook-ups so much that they decided to start their own for their new Brisbane family and friends (when defining "family and friends" as the old cheesy "a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet"). Lucky, lucky us. Every other weekend each month, on a Saturday or Sunday night, follow the directions in your confirmation email to a little slice of Italian life. The menu for the evening generally has a subtle theme to it - I've been to "cheese" nights and "seafood" nights. The food may not be "restaurant quality" but it's made with enthusiasm and love, and they both taste delicious. Donata, Guia and Andrea are more than happy to tell you any stories behind any of the items of food you're eating, whether that explanation happens at the start of the night, as they bring each course out, or at the end of the night if you can cajole them into standing around the table for a chat while everyone rubs their bellies. Andrea grew up in a fishing village, so if the meal is seafood, then his family's recipes are probably behind it. There's usually at least one look-in for a form of pasta, and the dessert is always light enough to not steal focus from the entree and mains, the real stars of the show. The cost of the evening is merely a donation toward the ingredients, set at a minimum of $50 per person at a table that seats up to ten. BYO is fine (and may I suggest vino, vino, vino!). You don't have to bring a crowd of ten - get adventurous and suit up to make some new friends over a meal. I've been to TSC three times and I have to admit that only one of those times was I adventurous enough to dine with strangers (the other two times, my group booked up the whole table - I'm also taking credit for TSC increasing their maximum number of diners from 8 to 10!). It was, of course, a wonderful night - because only wonderful people would get involved in such a thing. As more and more people find out about TSC, the waiting time for a dinner reservation gets longer and longer, so email them ASAP and get involved. It's also worth liking TSC's page on facebook, because occasionally last-minute cancellations will free up a seat or two and bring your weekend some bonus excitement and delicious food. In fact, I got so excited about TSC again while writing this review that I've emailed for a new reservation. See you there?
