John communicated the entire way on availability, acceptable forms of payment and explanation on the issue/solution for solving it. Sidenote: I had originally sent out a mass yelp service request for quotes and many companies didn't have availability. John had actually took initiative to follow up if my issue was already resolved (which it was not) and came out within a few hours same day to service my home. After getting an outrageous quote from a large HVAC company, I called Castillo & Daughters on Saturday morning. Jonathan returned my call within 15 minutes and said he would try to get out the same day. Although they were dealing with a very difficult job earlier that ran long, he stayed in constant communication, apologized for the delay, and ultimately showed up exactly when he said he would. Within 15 minutes, Jonathan and his colleague diagnosed the issue as a broken hot surface ignitor -- something that had been completely missed or grossly overestimated by another company. He was honest, explained everything clearly, and told me the part cost about $30. He didn't have it on hand and explained it would need to be picked up Monday morning, which he did exactly as promised. True to his word, Jonathan made this his first priority Monday morning, texted ahead, arrived on time, replaced the part, tested the system thoroughly, and had the furnace running perfectly. The total cost was $190, including diagnosis and repair -- compared to a $1,575 quote from a big-name company. What really stood out was the honesty, professionalism, and positive attitude. No upselling, no pressure, no inflated pricing -- just competent work done the right way. Even after a long, chaotic Saturday, Jonathan remained courteous, patient, and respectful. It's refreshing to find a small local business that clearly takes pride in their work and treats customers fairly. Amazing. I can't say enough. I've had other HVAC companies clean my furnace in the past. Always very quick cleanings and overly expensive. My technician from Castillo spent over 2 Hours tuning up the furnace, but only charged me for 2. It runs like new. Great service! Jon answered the phone right away and was willing to come out to take a look at my broken unit right away. This issue needed new parts and he promptly came back to replace them. When it still wasn't functioning 100% he insisted on coming back until it was. He was extremely thorough and reasonable. Our central heating was running cool and Jonathan quickly realized it was as simple as a filter that needed to be cleaned. He was honest and told me it was just that, nothing more complicated. I appreciated his honestly (rather than claiming it was something more!) and he's earned my trust for any other issues that may arise in the future.
