I was finally able to speak with someone who was more pleasant on the phone than the other woman w/ whom I spoke. She sounded younger than the first woman. I asked if I was definitely going to receive oil that day because the temp was very low and I had far less than 1/4 of a tank of oil left. I told her I am 70 and live alone with no one to help me. This young woman was very pleasant. She said, "oh yes, our truck has two more stops and will then be at your house." I had actually worked hard shoveling my driveway and the walkway to the oil tank cap on the back side of the house. Sure enough, the truck arrived and my oil tank is now full. Surprised to learn tonight Santoro purchased my usual furnace repair co. My furnace quit tonight, at 13°, so I called my usual co. only to greet a repairman 5 hours later who is unable to repair oil furnaces. I was told another repairman would be dispatched as soon as possible. (It is now 10:30 pm). Received a call just now from apparently an owner of this company. He said he will not repair my furnace because I am not an oil customer. (I have never heard of this company). So he was happy to leave me stranded in this cold, to watch my pipes burst. read more

Every time I schedule a delivery I'm waiting at least a week or longer for someone to show up. Ordered a delivery on Tuesday (Monday was a holiday) and when no one has shown up yet I called today (Friday) to find out when someone would be out. I was told that "I should have enough oil for two to three weeks" and that "I wasn't a priority" but that "Someone should be out sometime next week". I'm not expecting same day service but I don't think that getting service within a few days is unreasonable, especially when you've already charged me for it, so why do I have to consistently wait over a week? I'm all set with this provider, delivering something I've paid for in a reasonable time frame seems to be a challenge and shouldn't be made my problem. read more

Wow what a turn around. I just wrote a great review of how Santoto fixed my A/C problem and not more than 24 hours the problem I have earlier is back. Matt my technician did a great job fixing my unit in the attic and cleaning the outside unit on thursday 7/24. However, after he left and assuring me everything is good. I lost the AC on Friday afternoon. I called Santoro about this and he was dispatched to me but because of the storms on Friday afternoon he wa unable to come. Another technician came and said the problem was in the attic and because of the late date he couldn't go into the attic. So this Friday afternoon and I am stuck without air for the week end and I don't even know if someone will be coming early Monday morning. So my great review is not what the keck. I hired them for troubleshooting an Instrumentation and Controls issues that caused my heat to stop working. Unfortunately, they struggled to understand the problem before taking action, their troubleshooting activities resulted in the system being in a worse state than when they arrived. After 4 hours (2 separate 2 hour visits) of work, they still hadn't identified the problem. Although customer service kindly reduced the charge by 1 hour, I don't consider this great service since the issue wasn't resolved by them. They might be competent with gas system routine services, but I wouldn't recommend them for heat pump or dual fuel systems that have zone panels and smart thermostats. My job was definitely outside of their expertise. read more

We needed a new oil tank as ours had started leaking. Other than the very very small leak, we had zero problems with our heating/hot water. Never had an issue. Santoro came to replace our oil tank, $4000 by the way, two hours late, which we didn't think was a big deal, but then they were there until almost 8pm when work was supposed to start at 1, but didn't till after 3 o'clock. Still we weren't upset. But then we saw the condition they left our house in. There was small metal shards, dirt, dust, and small cement blocks left all over our finished basement. We have a toddler and pets crawling around on our floors. Zero clean up from them. Also, our brand new floors we just installed when finishing our basement were scratched up. (Still waiting to hear how they plan on fixing this problem.) Then the next morning we had no heat or hot water. They sent a tech out to fix it and he said they left us with no oil in our tank. So they sent a delivery of oil. We now have a full oil tank and woke up this morning to no heat and hot water. We never had an issue before they switched the tank. The techs that replaced our tank seemed inexperienced, one kept reprimanding the other to do the job correctly, after one showed up almost 30 minutes after the other, while he was saying "I don't know what's taking him so long we left at the same time from the same place." Overall we are very upset with how this job was handled. I will update if things are resolved. read more

Very thankful to have found Santoro Oil and Gas Doctor. Our old heating system failed on Thursday night and was leaking water everywhere. We called Rhode Island energy who shut the gas off and advised we needed to call a heating contractor. We went with Santoro from ma previous property we had work at. They came out Friday morning explained what needed to be done, were able to finance it over 10 years and began working that day! Our heating system was completed Saturday and in the interim they provided us with some electric heaters for the night. We are customers for life. Happy to support this family business. read more

Their pricing was out of line with their competitors and when you stop automatic delivery, they void your service contract. So be careful out there. This company is the worst. They would not allow me to cancel an oil delivery that they charged me $5.50 a gallon for, the highest price in the state, by the way. The bill was $850. To top it off they offered to take $47 off my bill if I took down my Google review. Of course I refused. That offer was an insult. The transition to a new furnace went extremely smooth and was very well coordinated. The technicians took great care to keep our floors and rugs and house clean. I recently moved to Attleboro and started researching home heating oil companies before the move. I have to say the most informative and welcoming company was Santoro. Dan was awesome, he followed up on my initial email requesting information and came out to my home to explain everything Santoro had to offer. After reading all the positive reviews and meeting Dan my mind was made up! Santoro was the way to go. I signed up for a two year service contract (which they were offering for the price of one year! )......with the included cleaning and servicing of my burner every year the contract will pay for itself. Plus the added peace of mind knowing if anything goes wrong I can call them 24-7 and they'll send a technician to troubleshoot and repair!! Plus the added price cap, I just can't say enough positive stuff about Santoro. What more could you want? read more

Choose anyone else! I've been a customer for over 4 years, and this is absolutely my last year with them - they've been getting worse every single year. Their service department is consistently rude over the phone (cutting you off, no patience, etc.) and their field crews are incompetent. It took 3 visits just to get my annual service done last year - the first one broke a perfectly working furnace, and the next two visits were to fix it. By the way, don't try to book an annual service with them anyway - the next available appointment is 4 months out, even if you pay for the almost $300/yr service plan. You pay a premium to work with them, but receive deep-discount service quality. AVOID! read more

I noticed the red light on my hot water heater was on so, after pressing it to restart with no result, I called for service. The technician arrived within an hour. He asked if I had oil and I told him that I was on automatic delivery. He checked the tank and it was empty. He provided 10 gallons of heating oil on Saturday afternoon and said he would order a delivery. As of 8:00 AM Monday the temperature inside my house is 55 degrees. read more

Very poor service. We are supposed to have automatic delivery but unfortunately we ran out of oil on a night with temperatures in the single digits. A man on the phone said it happened because we had been customers for only two years! Another man said they were behind in their deliveries. A service man delivered 10 gallons of oil and got 1/2 of the hearing system working. They refused to provide more oil in spite of the fact that an elderly woman and a small child live in the home. The heat worked in half of the house for 2 hours! Finally, we found Columbus Oil Co. who delivered a full tank and got the whole house up and running. read more

We had an issue where our heat was not going on recently and the technician Kim came out late that evening to replace the board on the boiler and had the heat back up and running that evening. There was an additional issue overnight and Santoro came right out in the morning to address and Adnelson was troubleshooting for most of the morning. It ended up there was an additional issue with the power vent which they replaced for us as part of their visit. They were evaluating various options and the manager, Eric, was called in (I believe he had the day off) and assisted. Unfortunately I don't recall the other tech's name but he and Eric resolved the issue and replaced the vent and completed the troubleshooting. Everything was back up and running and it was appreciated that they spent the time to ensure everything was working properly. They were professional, maintained masks/covid precautions, and were great to deal with. read more

So disappointed in this company. We needed a new boiler installed in our new house and after getting several quotes, we went with Santoro because the quote was low and they seemed like a good business. One week after the install, I woke up to the carbon monoxide detectors going off. We have infant twins so I very quickly had to pack them up and get out of the house and call 911. Fire department responded to the house and explained to us that the installation had been done incorrectly and had caused oil to pool and smoke. They also let us know that the boiler was set to burn oil too richly (quickly). I immediately called santoro and to their credit they sent someone immediately. However they ignored our request to have the boiler set lower (claimed they didn't know what we were talking about). In the meantime, we were displaced from the home for 2 days due to the smoke and smell, completely due to their negligence. When I called to speak to a service manager, he did nothing. Absolutely nothing. Not even an apology. He actually blamed it on the equipment manufacturer. Too bad the fire department explained exactly how they screwed up or I would have believed him. read more

I've been with Santoro Oil for several years now and actually recommended them to my son, who is on the call when needed plan. They were supposed to get a delivery yesterday, which did not happen because we got about an inch of very fluffy snow, really not even enough to plow, but the driver would not go down their driveway (it is long). They didn't even know until today that the oil didn't get delivered and no attempt was made to deliver it today (no snow or rain today) When asked why they didn't deliver it today(Fri.), they said they wern't in the area today and they would have to wait till Monday (today is Fri.). They don't deliver on the weekends. When I signed up with them they told me they had a contingency plan for any situation, which I guess they don't. If they can't make the delivery on the day they are supposed to you just have to wait till they are in your area again. My son has a small baby and no oil and the folks we spoke with at Santoro were very "oh well" about it, nothing we can do. I'm going to switch oil companies this spring when my contract is up. I want a company that actually cares about people and little babies. read more

Needed propane installed for a gas stove ONLY. Mike came out and looked at what needed to be done, and quoted me a price. Easy peasy, no problem, lets do it I said. It wasn't a big job, just run 25ft of pipe to the outside. I would be paying cash for entire project and even offered to pay up front. The next day Mike called to say they refused the job because my FICO score which wasn't perfect due to a refinancing glitch in the same month, and a delay in Citizens bank applying the payoff to my account. But that said, what does my FICO score have to do with a cash job. This was not a $10,000 job or even a $5000, or even a $2000, it was literally pennies for me, cash I usually keep on hand (for emergency's) anyway. A complete waste of my valuable time! I explained I was paying cash for the entire project. I would even pay up front for 3 years of service, so tell me WHAT DOES MY FICO SCORE HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING! Very disappointing and just bad business. Word of advice, always check out BBB. read more

Very poor service and they rip off the elderly. My mother had to go with them because she is on heating assistance. They overcharge her on her oil because she is on this program. Essentially steeling the little assistance she receives from LIHEAP. She had one service call this winter for a faulty pressure value. They charged her $264 to fix it(under contract). After the tech was done we notice the heat would work but the hot water did not. They have been back three times trying to fix it and can't figure it out. It was working before they came out so I would have to say the quality of the repairman is very low. They also delivered oil to her next door neighbor the same week and tried to charge her for it at the inflated price. I had them out to service a propane heater in my home. They came out many times and told me after each visit that it was fixed. Each time I tested the heater after they did work, it would continue to have the same problem and shut off. They kept replacing parts on the heater and even the gas line, which all turned out to be guesswork that I ended up paying for. One of their service techs did unauthorized work and sent me inappropriate text messages after I told him I was unhappy with what he had done. The office staff have run my credit card without a signature or approval. They always put me at the bottom of their priority list even though this is the primary source of heat for my house and this happened during the winter! After over two months of visits, and being charged over $1,100, my heater still has the same problem it originally did! I have submitted complaints repetedly through the office staff and asked for the management to contact me. Its been over three months and I have heard nothing. Save your time, money, and patience, and use another company. read more

Called for oil on January 4, 2018. Was told that someone would be there on Monday or Tuesday. No one showed up to fill our tank. I called and left a message with the answering service Tuesday night and called first thing Wednesday morning, January 10, 2018. I was told that someone would definitely be delivering our oil today. Came home at 5:30pm, no oil fill up. Called and got the answering service again who assured me that the delivery people DO NOT go home until their schedule is complete. It's 8:23pm and still no fill up. I called the answering service again because she apparently seemed to know the schedule, and I told her I had less than a 1/4 of a tank left. She scoffed at me and told me that that would last me multiple days. I am upset and disappointed that no one has showed and that they don't even notify you that no one is showing up. They just lie and hide behind their strange answering service. I'll call again Thursday morning to hear more lies from a company who just can't seem to deliver. read more

Santoro Oil is a one stop shop for heating. I love that they cover a wide territory and the fact that they also offer propane makes them well rounded - They even offer marine diesel for my boating customers. They have a large, successful company but that doesn't impact the high level of service to their customers. Quality doesn't suffer because of their size. They just are a mom and pop shop in a big company body. They have treated my customers very well over the years and their consistency of professionalism is exceptional.
