Castle Creek Apartments - A new hot water tank has been installed! - Apartments Near Me - Newcastle, Washington

Given the suffering their management has caused me and my partner, in all honesty, I would have given them a negative rating, but Yelp does not permit it :( On February 1, 23, my partner and I submitted an application for a 1 bedroom apartment with a February 28 move-in date. We sent them all the paperwork that the management required for signing the lease and they did claim that there was no problem with our application (things like background checks etc.). However, we never received the apartment lease to sign. When we contacted them on February 10, they informed us that the apartment was under renovation and that they need to reset move in between March 15 and March 20, never gave us a fixed date though. We therefore made the decision to extend our lease in our current apartment until March 18. We repeatedly contacted them in the interim to inquire about the move-in date but always received a response stating that the remodeling was still ongoing. If an apartment is going to be renovated, I don't understand why it should still be offered. In addition, the administration has absolutely no idea of when the renovation will be finished. Does it make more sense to put the apartment on the market once it is ready?? Seems like a simple logic to me. Well, we received a call from the management on February 28, 2023 (our real move-in date when we applied for the apartment) alerting us that the apartment would no longer be available in March. Instead, they need to move the move-in date to April but never gave us a fixed move-in date. Management is now attempting to sell us three options after causing this enormous catastrophe. According to them, these options are their attempt to make the mess, that they themselves created, better - 1. Forfeit the apartment application. They will be refunding our "full application fee". (Such a wonderful choice for us, yay. We are essentially back to square one for hunting apartments.) 2. They have another apartment available for a 12-month lease at a significantly higher price. In terms of rent or lease length, management is unwilling to negotiate. (Our first apartment had an 11-month contract and substantially lower rent.) 3. Wait till April to move into our current flat. Yet, they are hesitant to offer a specific move-in date. They warned us that the renovation can take longer than expected and said they couldn't yet predict a move-in date.(Don't know where will we live from Mar'18 to I don't know when in April or maybe May) Hence, they essentially want to do nothing to improve the situation that they themselves brought about. Despite the fact that this is all their fault, they are not willing to negotiate on any conditions. We now have no choice but to withdraw our application and start looking for apartments again. We looked for an apartment in January, but we'll need to look again in March when rentals will be higher. We are quite worn out, discouraged, and frustrated. This is having a negative financial, emotional, and physical impact on us. First of all, we want to make it clear to the Castle Creek management that WE DON'T WANT YOUR APOLOGY. It's so easy for you to apologize as it is not affecting you at all. You can just simply carry on and ruin other people's life, repeating the cycle again and time again. Instead, we prefer ownership, but the choices you are presenting to us are in no way useful. One of the least competent, unprofessional, and unskilled apartment managements we have come across. Finally, we had to move out... There was this constant fume coming out from the vents, which we had to seal several times since the fumes were strong enough to make us have headaches, nausea, tingling on the lips... Management never acknowledged any of my emails, and phone communication was impossible. The market price of nearby options was similar to what we were paying currently for rent, so we decided to look elsewhere and pay for breaking the lease. Curiously, management promptly replied to all emails that my wife sent to them, yet I never got a single reply to the emails I sent regarding vacating the apartment and arranging payments (did they block me after my not-so-stellar reviews?) After receiving the final bill for cleaning/repairs and due moving fees (which were acceptable, given the amount of money we had already paid), we discovered that the carpets were already 2 years old by the time we moved in, 7 years in total... no wonder why my allergies were so bad! By the way, management denied my past petitions to change the carpets, claiming that they only changed them prior to new tenants moving in... well, they missed mine! As a final note, I was upset at the fact that a week after moving out, the management listed the apartment at a much lower rate than we were paying. I understand that prices fluctuate given current market conditions, yet it did feel like we were overpaying compared to the services and attention we were receiving. read more

Home shopping is exhausting when you are a renter with pets. It is so difficult to find a place that is pet friendly, convenient, and affordable, and if you can find those things it's almost impossible to hope for having a great staff with a community outlook. All of those things are present at this complex. When I came in and saw the Christmas decorations, the free wrapping center just for residents, the children's activities, the brightly colored walls, and the beautiful pool, I was hooked. I was practically ready to sign a lease before they even showed me an apartment. I really like the manager, she was very knowledgeable and personable and really inviting. She was excited about the wrapping station and told me about some of the other community events she'd put together. I have lived in the area most of my life and had moved to another state a couple of years ago. I was contemplating moving back up because of my job. As much as I love this place, the job fell through, so I will not be moving after all - but if ever I do I will definitely come to this complex. We moved to castle creek Apartments few months back. The pool is a big plus and gym but rest of the thing like i Live the apartment where the master bedroom size and shape is totally different so small and the room shape is half diamond. The biggest problem is if you are living downstairs it's so Much effort and if you have kids and parent's it's hard to get groceries Down total workout . If you are using the backdoor The problem is mud if management can put some work for the people who live downstairs easy access to the main road that will be a big hit !! read more

I lived there a few years ago and it was the worst experience ever. I just had to post this review since I was horrified by my experience there. I'll be to the point since there reviews are hard to sift through. 1) MOLD - it's in your contract that you can't move out because of mold, instead you notify them so they can clean it. We had a MAJOR problem in our unit & it didn't help that we found that they didn't properly connect the dryer to the vent. At first, you see no mold. But wait for the surprise. 2) NOISY - moving company across the street starts their semi-trucks around 6 or 7am and the cabinet maker next to it can get noisy too. You can hear the upstairs neighbors walk and talk. 3) STUFFY - no ventilation and the summers were pure hell. 4) POOR MAINTENANCE - our heater in the main area was broken from day one & was never fixed. Then when the garbage disposal broke, they didn't fix it, so we had to buy a new one ourselves & install it. 5) LACK OF SECURITY - My car was stolen. We had to call the 24 hour security people 6 times over the course of a year because our neighbor upstairs liked to party and beat his wife or child. They never did anything about that. Plus, it appears that there is a drug dealer in the neighborhood that likes to hang out across the street at night. Have fun with that! 6) LACK OF PARKING - Get home before 8pm or you'll be parking down the street. 7) DEPOSIT THEIVES!!! - our stove's drip pans were nasty, so we bought brand new ones before we moved out. In our letter explaining why we didn't get our full deposit back, they charged us for painting and for drip pans. We bought new one and re-painted the apartment with the same white color. It looked better than when we moved in (my husband had extra paint from his job sites (he's a painter). Didn I mention that we had the carpets shampooed' We left the place looking newer than before. So why no deposit back' HMMMMMMM... 8) TEENY GARAGES - We have a truck, which barely fit in the garage. But if you have a smaller car it, may work for you. The contruction inside was poor. 9) STORAGE NIGHTMARE - I mentioned mold, but the storage units were beyond a Tim Burton nightmare-ish movie. No joke. This mold was visible, unlike when you first move into your unit. The only positives about the place were the lounge, basketball court, and the workout room. BUT the actual apartment life is what means more to me than the added amenties. The extras don't make up for the negatives. We survived, but would hate to see people run into the problems we did without knowing first of the potential problems. The manager was awesome, but she constantly told us of how she hated her job. So obviously it's Essex Property Trust that is the criminal, not the management. read more

Lived here in a three bedroom and loved it. Floor plan was spacious, neighbors were friendly and location was great for me! QFC is a stones throw away and for anyone who commutes to Seattle or Bellevue the transit lines are right near the entrance. If you like to run, there are some great areas nearby and Cougar Mountain trail head is just up the street a mile or so (great running trail) Staff was friendly and always remembered my name. Maintenance was prompt and fixed everything I had requested. I would highly recommend this apartment complex. In regards to the negative reviews, here's my input... Noise - I was in the last building and it was peaceful, even being near the playground. Deposit - Charges are fair and detailed in the lease agreement - for pet owners (used to have a dog prior to living here), train your pets to not go in the apartment, common sense buddy. Urine stains all the way through the carpet and padding, liquids don't hover on the top. I didn't own a car, but it usually seemed pretty full so buy a parking spot. I just moved out of Castle Creek a few weeks ago. I moved here blind from Pittsburgh and had to find a place over the phone. Chris and Preston were a great help and the move was very smooth. We had no major complaints about living here other than the parking. If you want a stall I think it is like an extra $20 a month. Free parking was a little hard to come by for someone who worked late like me. When we moved out we did notice some mold in the one closet. For health reasons I would just double check your place before moving in and while living. I think it just comes with the territory living in a wet and mildly warm climate. In response to some other reviews. The storage and moving across the street was not noisy at all. I wouldn't have even noticed them. We got about half our security deposit back, but that was because of the standard cleaning fees, we were told about up front, and the last months utility bill. I would recommend living here to anyone who needs good reliable temporary living. The commute to the city was not bad at all and I really enjoyed the proximity to cougar mountain and the rest of the mountains in the I90 corridor. read more

By far the best experience I have had with an apartment complex. And boy howdy, have I had a few! My boyfriend, cat, and I live in a 730 sq ft 1 bedroom 1 bathroom (largest 1 bedroom available) apartment on the 2nd floor. I love that I can't hear anyone across the hallway and to the sides. However, I am mindful that I walk softly as our upstairs neighbor is a constant reminder of what we may sound like to our neighbor below. The staff have always been welcoming and nice whenever I come and bug them. Community is what you make it, and I have spent some extra time to get to know the staff. Maintenance issues get done in a flash. The maintenance guys go above and beyond to help and the management does their best to make you feel welcome. I really can't say enough of how much I enjoy living here because of the team. Sadly, we need more space and with prices increasing we probably won't be able to stay. To be honest, the amount we pay for a 1 bedroom is on the high side when the apartments themselves are average. We could get a 2 bed 2 bath in Lynnwood with 800 sq ft for the price we pay now. We've been here for a few months and honestly I can't complain. Yes, it is next to a moving company but didn't you see that when you looked at the apartments? And we're in a last building so we hardly ever hear anything. I think the location is great its right off coal creek with easy access to 405. Also two grocery stores, banks, library, restaurants etc. are all within walking distance. We are on the top floor so but we do occasionally hear our neighbors especially if they are on their deck because our bedroom is next to the deck however for the most part we hardly hear anyone. It is apartment living so you will hear others. The gym is small so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for a great workout but the pool hot tub are clean. They just put in a indoor basketball court however I haven't used it. The office staff is friendly however I have noticed some turnover- we've had a few issues with our washer and it was fixed within a day or so. Overall a good value for location and SO much cheaper then Bellevue! read more

Ive been living here in a 1 bedroom since June. I am pretty content with this place thus far. I think the parking could be adjusted a bit better, but I have a stall now so its not to bad,. Only when you have guests over. I would recommend this place over places I've looked at like Karbon Apartments. Chris in the front has been straight up with me, and I appreciate that. I'll be the first to tell future residents what the reality is of living here is. I had a woman looking at the place inquire about my experience while I was getting my mail the other day. Maintenance guys do their best to keep the place decent because you pay top dollar. Parking is decent if you are parking a motorcycle. Look at all the cars in the parking lot. All have damage from trying to park in this obnoxious parking area. I have a compact car and the parking is a problem. The office staff on move in was decent and very professional, the man's name was Chris I did business with. When he left the turnover that happened left the office staffed with rude, unprofessional, challenging to deal with type people. They were inconsistent to what arrangements were made with Chris on arrival. Smoke fills my apartment because the apartments surrounding mine have smokers living in them. As a mom to a baby its concerning. Get ready for the smell of Indian food all the time, it has a tendency to get nauseating smelling. Summer time it gets way too warm in the apartments. Me and my husband have been having the worst experience with this apartment staffs and the manager. We tried to lease a room and got denied on March19th. Upon denial, we are supposed to get our holding deposit $250 back from them. (It's stated in the Welcome Letter) Castle Creek asked us to give accounting department 21days to send check to us. Well, it's April 27th today and we still haven't get our money back. We asked them about the check, they said the cooperate office sent us the check long time ago, but we were never given tracking# and never got check. The staff said they will check the status with accounting department and we didn't get call back. So, we visited the office today. They were having a meeting and told me to wait 10-15min. After 20min, I knocked on the office door and the manager came out and said, "I checked with the accounting and they re-sent the check so wait 2 more weeks." I said, "If we don't receive the check within 2 weeks, we will have to file small claim at the court to get our money back." (well, we have been waiting for our money since March 19th!) Then, she started to yell at me, "Thank you for making the threat. I have nothing to do with this, you need to check with our corporate office!" So I said, "I'm not threading you. Cooperate office never answer the phone. So why don't you check with them they are your boss." Then she said, "I have nothing to do with this, and I'm not going to do that! I'm done with this!" and she shut the door on my face and locked the door. I wasn't try to threat her, I just wanted to get our money back , and if they are not giving us back for so long, we have to go next step. They have been very unhelpful, never call us back and never give us tracking# for the check they insist the accounting department sent. Anyway, I don't know if it's only happening to us, but if you apply for the lease and get denied, I don't know if you ever get the holding deposit back. I don't recommend this place to anyone at all. I have lived here for over 3 years now. You cannot beat the location. Its an expensive area to reside in, so complaining about the rent is kinda like moving next door to the fair grounds and complaining about the noise :) . The apartments are on the larger side and have alot of space. The staff are always very nice to me and my dog. I have a good idea who this Abby person and her 1 star review actually is. She is a hateful and rather unhappy person with a huge chip on her shoulder. Her recent review reads like she ran to her computer in a fit of rage and launched into one of her tirades. I personally wouldnt put any stock in such a needless rant. The staff turns over often because they get promoted from this property. In my opinion because they do a stellar job. The manager has instituted a number of very cool programs for the kids in the area and has redecorated the cabana area very nicely. They have a concierge style of resident care now with the new maintenance request system and package received notifications. By the way its odd this Abby person has renewed her lease several times including with the current management staff, feeling the way she does you think she would relocate :) Everywhere I have ever rented has charged pet rent. I dont care for it either, but it is a reality. She complains about the parking spaces, I drive a large truck and have no problem with mine, she drives a small (beater) car and complains about the size? Being hateful just to be hateful must be a terrible existence, in private I kinda feel sorry for her. Anyway, this review was not solicited by anyone. It is in the style it is in to point out the fact that this is a nice place to live run by nice people and after reading the other reviews I just felt compelled to include a few counter points to a certain hateful review left previously. This is from the perspective of a family man who likes it here enough to renew my lease. We have a 3 bedroom place that is a great floor plan. We have no intention of moving soon. Pros: -Location: Easy access to Renton Highlands, DT Bellevue, Issaquah without having to touch 405 or 90. both are nearby. -The amenities (Pool. Hot Tub, indoor and outdoor BBall courts and meh workout area) are nice to have and well maintained. -Pet friendly (though we don't have a pet, I like how they manage them. Dedicated dog run area, Poop pickup posts, etc.) -The cabana is very community oriented and taste fully designed. Its set up for hanging out to relax and use the wifi (2 pc's w/printing), let the kids play with the toys provided, or meet with neighbors or business associates. It's like a private starbucks to hang out at for residents. -The School District one of the best on the eastside. - Property is well maintained: We have no problem getting things fixed. Their resident website was wonky at first, and now it's easy to report something online and get a response and give permission to enter, in order to fix. The Con's: -The property is on a slope, so lots of stairs to go up & down. -Parking spaces are narrow. You become an efficiently skilled at parking that doesn't waste space and stays in your lane. :) -It is an apartment with people above/below you. It is what it is. The facilities provided are always maintained clean and safe. Positive: -Apartments are spacious with a balcony, cable ready, and washer/dryer in unit. Our apartment full of smoke in summer time as management does not enforce the no smoking rule within 25 feet of entrances and windows that open and management, in general, very poor in responding and resolving resident issues. Maintenance staff is very helpful though but If apartment has any issue and management involved in resolving it, prepare for a long fight before they do anything. Other issues - Poor security in the parking lots. Apartment complex has an indoor, heated pool but It is not very clean most of the time and we stopped going there. And you like to play with some tricky policies which do not make sense. Or you like arguing, you would like to practice self-defending before you start your careers in a law firm. Please take it. The apt price is reasonable, big and good location. But you will notice your neighbor's talking, walking, laundrying and pee, forgot to mention the ridiculous parking, loud refrigerator and annoying ventilator. We lived in Castle Creek for about a year.. We moved there because of the indoor pool, however we got so much more. The office staff was always prompt courteous and professional. The maintenance staff was amazing, always repairing items in a prompt and professional manner. I tried to think of a complaint, and honestly, couldn't come up with one. The amenities have reasonable hours were always clean and the grand kids always had fun. Our experience at Castle Creek was excellent, I would recommend this place to family and friends. Listen, if you're going to complain about noise, maybe you shouldn't live in a place that has that many people in such a small space. I'm just saying. read more
