Was in the area and Castle was recommend by my MIL's friends. Called prior to see if they did UV GEL fill ins. Was told they did, so I proceeded to book an appointment for that and a regular pedicure and went right in. The location itself was a bit outdated, but I try not to judge before trying. I get seated in a pedicure chair and the treatment started. After about 10 minutes the gentleman who started with me and took my call, traded off and 2 ladies jump on. One to work on my feet and the other to start on my hands. I want to start off by saying these ladies were both lovely and they did do a good job, HOWEVER I will never go back to this Nail Salon. EVER. As, my nails were being worked on, the nail tech grabbed a pillow and placed it under my arm. Sweet gesture, but nothing was put in between my arm and the pillow (paper towel, pillow cover, ect) so the dust from my nails got all over the FELT COVERED pillow. Not to mention the pillow had a bunch of other stains on it which made me feel like this was a standard operating procedure. At one point the gentleman that started with me would take a pillow or two (all different materials, non-covered with paper like or disposable material) and go outside and hit it against the railing to shake out the dust...gross. Then I decided to shut my eyes and try to enjoy the 10 minute foot massage that came with my pedicure package. The massage was lovely, but when I opened my eyes, I saw that the nail tech was applying ACRYLIC power to my nails. Not UV gel. I spoke up and said, " hey this isn't UV gel." and the nail tech who previously was speaking to me stopped, looked at her boss and said something I couldn't understand. The women she spoke to, who I am assuming is the owner, then said to me, "UV gel also comes in a powder.... No, it doesn't I responded? Yes, it does she says, and its way stronger for your nails." I then mentioned that I didn't want acrylics b/c it has damaged my nails in the past and I have been getting UV Gel for several years now and NEVER has it looked like this, this looked like acrylic powder. They tell me again it is and at this point, she already had 3 nails done so I just stop and let them finish. I sat there and googled if UV GEL could come in powder form and of course everything I found says NO. After this, I start to look around. UV Gel is not on their price list. My nail tech, Alice, also doesn't seem to know when or how long to keep my hands under the uv drier... she even puts my hands back under the UV drier after she massaged my hands with lotion and the paint & topcoat had already been applied... and for anyone who regularly gets their nails done... this is ODD. Generally, when the paint and topcoat are dried, they do a little massage, then hot towel to take off the lotion, a little oil for the cuticles and you're good to go. I also can't seem to see not one or ANY tool sterilizer machine, nor are they opening new packages of tools for each guest. The Tupperware with the tools they used on my hands and feet had been passed down and was being used on others (NOT ONLY DISGUSTING, BUT INCREDIBLY UNSANITARY AND AGAINST THE LAW). At the end of the service, I go to pay and was charged $100! I ask how it is $100 when my pedicure was $35? He said b/c of the UV Gel fill in. I tell him one again, "listen this WAS NOT UV GEL." I will pay b/c it is a service, but not $65 for what I know IS NOT UV GEL and when I do get UV Gel, I don't pay that much. So, then he and one of the nail techs try to gaslight me and tell me its UV GEL power to which I reply... I GOOGLED IT THERE IS NO SUCH THING." I say to him, listen, I get my nails done every 2-3 weeks for most of my adult life and I have had acrylic, gel, the dip powder and UV Gel. This is ACRYLIC" He then says, 'ok that actually pink powder'... also not what they did on me. So finally, after seeing my face, he looks at me and says low so other clients can't hear him. Ok, so what do you want to pay? I tell him I'll pay 50 like the gel/acrylic fill in price he has and the $35 for the pedicure and that's it. Between the unsanitary conditions, the LIES, and the over charge, I shouldn't even have paid that, but the final result was decent for what it was. It just wasn't what I asked for and I'm SKEEVED out by the lack of sanitation and cleanliness. I tipped the techs and left. I will never go there again, and I certainly would never recommend it to anyone. read more

WHAT A RIP OFF !!!!! I just moved Into the area and found this place! I went 3 weeks ago and loved my nails the lady was great even tho I thought there were a little pricey .. I went back today for a new set with the same lady, they came out great but when I went to pay, I was charged $105 for my nails .. when I asked why I was being charged 105 for a new set they told me It was $55 for a new set , $10 extra because I got coffin shape, $15 extra for gel color $15 extra for French design and $10 extra for a flower on each of my ring finger. I can understand most of the extra charges but why the hell are they charging me $30 just because my French was a color ? So they pretty much charged me $15 twice .. one for doing the French and once for It being a color ? I'm super confused? Really sad that they did that to me, i feel like i was robbed .. I like to get my nails done every 2/3 weeks I would of brought them a lot of business but because of that I will not be returning. read more

I've been a customer at this salon for nearly 5 years but today will be my last time ever stepping foot into this salon. Three weeks ago I arrived for my 10:30am appt with Olivia all to find that she took another customer and made me wait an additional hour to be seen. Fast forward to today, I arrive with my mother for our regular 9:30am appointment and are told there is no appointment for my mom (lie) and to come back at 12pm. I know this place has a lot of good reviews, but i did NOT have a good experience. I went here because of the good reviews, my place was packed and because i was able to get an appointment before work. I went in with uv gel on my nails and asked to soak them off then get gel manicure. They tried to tell me that the UV wouldn't soak off and they pried the UV off my nails using a nail clipper and a MTA Metrocard - because that's real sanitary. (Shame on me for not insisting on the soak) Well, on one finger, the nail split from the brutality of the card and was split & bleeding. I asked for Gel manicure and they told me that due to the weakness of my nails (go figure) it was suggested I get some powder color dip thing. I never had that before, it was the same price and when i asked if it was stronger than the gel and they stated it was. I wish i got the name of the person that did my nails; she burned me twice with the nail file and cut my cuticle with the dremil (keep in mind, this is still the person that went through my nail with the Metrocard. 2 days later, the color dip powder was chipping and cracked. My finger that was split was still hurting and my cuticle that she cut was infected. I will NEVER go back to this place. read more

I've been going here for the past 7 months but will no longer be going back because of my last experience and the growing sense that they push customers to spend money. My last experience, the technician did a very sloppy job with the sns powder. When I got into my car, and got a closer look, I noticed clumps of powder on the sides of my nail bed and some parts of my nail without color. The tech told me to return should I have any issues, so I went right back into the salon to find that my technician left for the evening. When the other technicians saw my nails.. they said it looks terrible but only filed out the clumps and applied a top coat, all the while speaking in Korean about what a terrible job it was (they didn't know that I recognized some of their words). So when I spoke up and said that they are only applying the top coat... she just replied with sorry...While I totally understand that it was close to closing time, I thought the courteous and professional thing to do would be to offer to do over my nails at another time or offer a free service. None of which was offered, even when the manager saw and commented on how bad the job was and knowing that I've been coming to them regularly for the past 8 months. In regards to the push to spend money, I found that when I would go for a regular manicure, they tried to push me to do gel or sns. When I stuck with the manicure, they would push massages. I'm not giving them 1 star because they are clean, sterilize and use liners. And there are a few technicians there who do a good job. Today was my first time going to this salon and I will be going back!! I got an acrylic fill-in and truly enjoyed it. The woman who did my nails is named Clara and I can tell she really took her time and attention on my nails. I had a great experience and the only reason I don't give it a five star is only because they charge 15 more if I would have done a gel color on my acrylic. Where I used to go which is too far for me now, only charged me 6 extra. So overall it's sucks that they charge that much for gel, but I think I will sacrifice it just because Clara dedicated her time on my nails. I hope this helps someone! read more

These guys are so attentive. I love the customer service I get here, they greet me and treat me special each time I come. my gel manicure stays on longer than 2 weeks compared to other places where my gel manicure won't last more than a week. I also remember my phone was dying and they offered to charge it for me. I thought that was very sweet of them. They were really doing a great job when I first started coming to them, and after a while, they started treating me differently rushing me to pick a color and a service. Forcing me to go to whatever new person they had available, and Someone always has to go over and fix that persons work. Visits are no less than 2.5hrs for a gel powder mani & pedi. They have gotten rid of some of their best technicians. I only go now if there's no other salon available, and even then I find myself unhappy with the customer service. I've been coming here for nearly 5 years & today will be my last. If you're hard working like I am STAY AWAY! They do not care about their clients or their time. We are walking checks to them. You are required to make an appointment which we did, I came in today with 3 other people (all with appointments) & was told one of the people in my party would have to come back 2hrs later despite us having an appointment. The owner (a man) was extremely rude said he didn't care shooed his hands at us & went to remove my 12yr old from the chair with aggression. We spend over $200 every time we come. They began to speak on their language & ignore our concerns. They did the same thing to us 2 weeks ago. Olivia didn't not apologize for the inconvenience they caused us nor did the male manager. After being a religious customer for 5 years & multiple similar situations happening to my family, friends & I will NO longer waste our money here. read more

I think the guy is the owner he is a complete asshole. I have come here many times and usually go to olivia who is amazing any other work I have had is terrible. Today I went and all of my nails were different shapes and when I informed the nail tech (I am 99% sure her name was cara) she rolled her eyes and got all annoyed. She did not know what she was doing and messed up numerous times. In short she was the worst nail tech I have ever had. Then when I went to pay the guy (who again I'm assuming is the owner) is always the person who rings up the customers. I said I wanted to purchase a nail file and tip cara only $2 (because she did a horrendous job and honestly didn't deserve a tip at-all). He proceeded to tell me that the nail file was $5 when it was only $3. He then handed me back the $2 for my tip + the $2 he over charged me and told me to add it to the tip. As I was waiting for my husband to pick me up I was not going to tip her until I was actually leaving. The man then came up to me and told me to "give her the tip now" I told him I was going to when I was leaving but the I gave her $2 at that moment. When Cara saw that I only gave her $2 she made a "tisk" noise and rolled her eyes yet again. The customer service at Castle Nail is the worst that I have ever witness. I work as a waitress and have worked in customer service for many years. For me to not leave a good tip and write a bad review really says something about an establishment. I've been going here for years and it has undergone great improvements. Pros: Eyebrow waxing: Sharon and Olivia are really good at giving the eyebrow shape I like. The others, not so much, but I think that's because I'm used to them doing it. Gel mani/pedi: I always get gel manicures and when they do it, I can make it last for three weeks. I always get a massage while waiting to take the old polish off and then again when I am waiting for the last coat to solidify. Tip: If you go in on the weekends, make an appointment OR call in to see how busy they are. Yes, they always take walk-ins, but you could be waiting for a while so don't complain if you do! Overall: They know my entire family so it feels very homey coming in. I live in Forest Hills now, but I still go back here because they have decently priced services and I'm a sucker for their little massages here and there. read more

I came to get a pedicure and the manager insisted that we get a $60 pedicure when I asked for a $30 pedicure for my son that I offered to pay for. Also the sink at the pedicure station I sat at overflowed and he threw my shoes in the middle of the floor after they were soaked . Came here for the first time after work, always passed it but never went in. Yesterday I decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in I was greeted immediately and got started on. There was no wait. I received a free massage as well! Usually I have to tell nail techs to make sure to get my cuticles but the lady that did mines did it without me telling her to. She took her time doing EVERYTHING and my nails turned out amazing. I got the SNS for $35 and I can't complain. There were no lumps or anything, it was nice and smooth ! I live in the city but was visiting my cousin in Long Island. I needed a pedicure BAD and saw their advertisement for a $13.99 mani and pedi. I figured considering my need and the price it was worth a shot. ok, here is the thing. I believe my manicurist's name was Gloria. We never properly introduced ourselves but I'm pretty sure that the guy who I guess owns the salon called her that. She did a great job! My feet were in need of some major TLC, MAJOR, I was actually embarrassed by them. Then she saved the day! She took her time, and paid attention detail. Gloria also did my manicure which wasn't as great. My only problem with it was that she didn't properly shape my nails. Though I believe that was because of a communication error. She asked me if I wanted a square shape and told her I wanted them to be oval shape. She said something but she spoke very soft and it was too loud to hear her. So I repeated myself and she just smiled and said something again. It's not super noticeable but my nails came out a little uneven and some even look more square. Everything else besides that was great though! The guy who owned the place was a bit much though. He was awkwardly flirting with one of the customers, and saying a lot of uncomfortable things to my sister who was waiting for me. Things like "Jews take all the money" "The Chinese are trying to take over my business" and something about Russians. Who says these things? Mind you we are both Jewish and Russian. ugh. Horrible nail job! Do not go here literally waste of money. I got tips done and she left them looking like I need a filling. Under the nail is full of acrylic and I kept telling her to clean it up and she just couldn't. I kept telling her I don't like how she's doing them and she was literally ignoring me and talking shit in her language. One of my nails looks crooked. My thumbs are shorter then the rest of the nails which I told her and she dismissed it. After me complaining she started to be rough with my hands and kept cutting me. After paying they had the nerve to ask for tip which I said she did a horrible job why would I tip her and all I got was a bye bye bye, like how rude is that. $50 for acrylic and gel. Waste of my time took her an hour and a half for them to still look like shit. I never write bad reviews I know places have good and bad days. This place is HORRIBLE. I will never go back here. I've been here three times and I felt that they rushed me out. While I got my pedicure another lady worked on my nails. I wanted to relax and read my magazine. It was so rude. Then when I was sitting down to dry my nails ANOTHER person massaged my back. I had to tip three people in total. One time when I went, I got a dark color gel polish on my nails. She said "It's a hard color to do." Like what do you mean? You're a nail lady.... The lady wiped it off and reapplied at least six times. I was so frustrated. After all of the reapplying, it came out so messy. I stopped In here on way home from work - BIGG MISTAKE !! Went for mani pedi- the owner (man) stood over the woman who did my pedi and was so rude forcing me to get silk wraps . Repeatedly saying that rich people for all over the place go to him for nails - and bad mouthing my prior manicure from a diff place . He then told me to get a gel manicure - when I told him I wasn't able to use a uv light he too me was one of those stupid people tat thought it caused cancer .. The woman that did m manicure also sat there's saying that no one does a better hon than meanwhile she filed my nails so hard I began to bleed and bled the whole time I was there . She used so many coats that the polish wouldn't dry and began to bubble . When I showed her she continued to put more polish on top to cover it up . When I asked her If she could just do ver she became very annoyed and slammed the bottle on the table that she was holding .
