My experience was not good with regards to a highlight. Hair dresser/Valerie did a partial highlight & I wasn't happy with it as the highlights were one inch from my roots so I made a second appointment to have it fixed. When I arrived for the correction appointment I told Valerie that I was back to have it fixed & she immediately became defensive! First she said "Well, you said you liked the color!" I replied... "Yes, I like the color but want it closer to my roots, not an inch away." She then told me it could be fixed however I would need to pay additional dollars. Hair dresser/Erin ended up fixed my hair & basically filled the one inch gap for a six day old highlight & then charged me an additional $15.00. Customers shouldn't have to pay additional dollars to have their hair fixed for something that should have been done right the first time! I wouldn't recommend incompetent hair dresser Valerie for highlighting services or the salon/barber shop as their customer service & sucks! Katrina E. read more

I really liked this place! I hate salons where I have to sit for almost 3 hours and listen to people blabbing and complaining. And at the end, you are charged such a high price that makes you wanna just shave your hair... This place was different. Valerie was nice but not overdoing it and best of all, she was quick and I didn't have to spend my whole morning there. If i could give no stars i would. I went in 10 mins before closing. If theyre open til 4, lets say, then they should take business til 4. They encouraged me to come back monday, and i said no thanks. Very disappointed, since i saw some great reviews. i hesitated and I went to great clips by safeway, and they did a great job, which surprised me, cause i am very picky. I had a good experience here. Was visiting my folks over the xmas break and needed a haircut super quick. The Hawaiian spa place (aloha?) down the street treated me like junk when I went in so I took off and came across Bull Locks. The blonde gal was excellent. Super fast and very friendly even though she was the only one working due to some crazy circumstances. She's a real trooper. I'd definitely go back. Too bad I live in New York. I've never been too impressed with my haircuts. I have this vaguely curly head of hair that turns into a giant poof ball without careful attention. I've generally had to come home and break out the clippers after a haircut to even things out. Or, the worst case scenario, wait a good two or three months for my hair to grow back because the barber kept cutting trying to reign in my marginally unruly mane. I have been to numerous barbers throughout my years and just when I find someone I like, and trust, either I or they move. In Castle Rock I have been to Floyds, Cost Cutters, Great Clips, etc. And, although I might have gotten a cheap hair cut, I never got one that either my wife or I liked; and let's face it, she has to be happier with the way I look than I do. Enter Bull Locks. My first trip there convinced my wife that I should return: and return I have. A friend of mine swears they aren't a "real" barbershop because he has to call in advance to make sure the person he likes is available. He says "I just want some crusty old guy that is always at the ready." But, for me? I don't mind calling a day or two in advance to get a great haircut at a good price. read more

I have had two AWFUL experiences locally and she reassured me and guaranteed her work. Worst place to go.. Wanted to take my son to get a "mans haircut" at the only "Barber shop" in Castle rock. Was greeted by a pregnant rude hairstylist that told me she needed a lunch and had a poor attitude about my son and I coming in to your establishment to hopefully start that father son barber shop experience that I had with my father.. My wife was on time or even a little early for her previous visits. She made her wait around a few times because she wasn't done with her client before her. Then she happens to be late one time and she charged her a inconvenience fee and got on her case about it. She also refused to touch up some of her lashes because she was 5 minutes late. Not happy with her attitude. Also she brought my child and she was eating a snack and she told her to shut her mouth. So unprofessional. read more

I was very excited to try this local shop! However, I must say that I received the worst haircut that I have ever gotten. The stylist would not listen to what I was looking for. Instead, she would snip and say, "I'm not even going to ask permission...I don't like your bangs!" Needless to say, I have been teased by my friends and co-workers who have all asked if I allowed my 11 year old to cut my hair! I wish that my stylist would have been more responsive to my needs, rather than her "vision," as I am the one who is walking around with this extremely poor haircut. :( read more

My boyfriend came home from here with the WORST HAIRCUT EVER! He had shown her a picture on the wall that he would like it cut like and it was not even close! It was too short, uneven, and you could see clipper marks. When I called she was very rude and said "What now he doesn't like it! He liked it fine when he left!". Then I found out that she (Valerie) was the manager. We went in to get his money back and when I pointed to the pic and asked why she didn't do that haircut, she had a million excuses and no answer. She offered to blend it better but we just couldn't risk her touching his hair with scissors again. I guess if you don't care what your hair looks like, go here, because Valerie does whatever she wants. At least we got a full refund. read more

I have been going to Bull Locks for many years. My previous stylist there moved, so I tried Tracy. She's wonderful! Easy to work with and talk to and most of all: knows how to cut hair well! I regularly get compliments on her cuts. I like the no-frills environment, though the massage chair is nice. :). Definitely two thumbs up. read more
