Great place to unwind after a hard days work and only a 5 min walk from the Double Tree Hotel. I am from NC and have clients I support in the area so this trip I decided to visit. Nothing but good things to say about Eric and staff/patrons who went out of their way to make me feel like family and even pulled me into the dart frenzy. A big shout out to Kalee behind the bar who is full of positive energy and great dart thrower, Ernie who took me under his wing and shared his dart expertise, Bruce for his wisdom and life's insight, and Cam for his selfless service to country and our freedom. Can't beat Castro's. Great cigar selection in their walk-in humidor and great customers make for a relaxing and enjoyable cigar experience. Watching from the outside patio is comfortable and relaxing and one of my favorite places to smoke and people-watch. The owner goes out of his way to make everyone happy! read more

This place is da bomb! A vast and diverse selection of cigars, coupled with employees there with an extensive knowledge of cigars equals the perfect cigar for anyone with any taste. They sell nonalcoholic drinks up front. For alcoholic ones, there is a bar located in the back. There are also tables with various board games such as chess, checkers, dominos just to name a few. The chairs up front in the main area offer a plethora of different kinds of seating. Seats from couches to a row of comfortable barber chairs, to shoe shine chairs all facing the TV makes for the perfect place to unwind after a long day. This by far has now become one of my favorite low key spots to relax and unwind. read more

If your looking for a place to smoke a cigar this is the place. All of the employees are great and treat you like family.

Hands-down the worst experience of harassment I've ever faced in an establishment. My family and I went in there to have a smoke and a nightcap before we went home. My sister asked a patron if we could smoke cigarettes in there and a patron immediately became hostile, belligerent and threatened to smash my face in, after i challenged his stance on NH State law. So my sister bought some cigarillos from this establishment so we could enjoy with the rest of the patrons. About 15 minutes later that same patron spoke to a tall guy with glasses who I assume is a manager and he came up to be and said, "you can't smoke that in here." I said, "what are you talking about, we bought this here?" He repeated, "you can't smoke that in here." I called my sister over to explain to him the same thing, he made her show him her receipt and exactly what box she got the cigarillos from. My family had been going to Castro's for generations and we've never had such harassment from any other establishments. I suggest some coaching for the managers to teach them how they are to handle these situations in the future, otherwise it could cost the business greatly. read more

I travel a lot. As cigar stops go this is great. Comfortable with both lounge and barber chairs. Large walk in humidor that's well stocked. It has a bar. Prices are ok. Friendly locals who are happy to talk to out of towners. Yes I'll stop next time I'm in town. read more

Made a visit to Castro's on a Saturday afternoon. There were a few patrons smoking cigars on the neat barber chairs and couch watching TV. The atmosphere screams "man cave" with a dark interior, the whiff of a good cigar and the sight of the walk in humidor. The focus of these specialty shops is cigars (of course). I've tried cigars in the past and will still smoke one but I prefer a pipe. I can see where cigars can be the money maker but I wish these tobacco shops would promote and expand their pipe tobacco selections. This is the main reason for the 3 stars, I'd add 1 more star if I could have a wider choice of tobacco. The guy behind the counter was more than friendly and was able to help me pick a non aromatic Virgina pipe blend, just plain nut, which turned out to be spectacular. Pipe prices were of the normal range and the store did carry 2 kinds of pipe tools. 2oz set me back about 5 bucks which is a great deal when compared to cigars that cost dollars each. 2 oz can keep me going with 1 bowl a day for a month. I'll will certainly go back once I need a refill and if you are a pipe smoker, you should give it a try too. read more

Now dont get me wrong they might as well spray chick repellent through the whole place with the Playboys on the coffee table, sports on the big screen tv, darts, and complete tomfoolery out back but this place is AWESOME! Great selection of cigars. The guys are a real help and knowledgeable if you need help. They just opened a bar in the back of the shop and it is really nice. Leather chairs, huge selection of beer and a full bar. They also had a lot of bourbon and whiskey, for those who like a selection. It is a great place over all. Still not impressed. This place had a booth at the recent Chili Festival (which was awesome, by the way). I asked for 2 different (popular) brands, neither of which they had in their booth at the time. After discussing what I liked, they sold me one of "their" own name-brand cigars, which after smoking, I really didn't like. Their name-brand cigar is a blended-tobacco product that was heavy and harsh and simply not enjoyable to smoke. Stick with the name brands when shopping here, folks. read more

An excellent selection of cigars. The staff really knows their stuff and can help you choose a cigar if you are new to it or looking for something different. It has a brand new bar in the back area with a huge selection of beer and whiskey...one of the largest selections in the city. They have brand new black leather chairs also. ... Its just a great place to read the paper, catch up with buddies, watch sports, have a drink and a nice cigar. read more

Castro's in Manchester is just a big ole ball of WIN! As a woman, the atmosphere of a smoke shop is so very important. It can be intimidating to the point of unwelcoming. However, nothing could be further from that at Castro's. The place is clean, open and inviting. And the staff? Friendly and ridiculously knowledgeable. And Morgen, the usual guy behind the counter who pretty much manages the place, is a borderline savant when it comes to these hedonistic smoking sticks. There is not a brand name nor a variety he can't remember nor tell you about in detail and every suggestion he has made for either me or my dad has been absolutely savored and enjoyed Every. Single. Time! So if you need to purchase a cigar for someone (Christmas is just around the corner) check this place out. They'll know exactly what to give you. And should you want to try to smoke a cigar for the first time, I can't think of a better place to do so either. I can't recommend the place enough! read more

As a younger guy that enjoys the occasional cigar I enjoy Castro's because they have always been very helpful in helping me select a proper cigar for my taste. I have been to several other cigar shops that treated me like a kid because of myself only being 20 but the staff as Castro's have always been friendly and helpful. Have gone to Castro's a few times on weekends during he bar crawl scene and they have a great location. Which it would stay open until 2:00am so I could get my fix later on those nights. The only issues I have with the place is I feel cramped in the cigar aisle and the attitude from the guys at the shop to the customers they attract. Also why celebrate the fact that Castro was a murdering tyrant who destroyed Cuba's relationship with the United States and we no longer can actually get Cubans' anymore. I also went to the Nashua location and liked it less the barber chairs are uncomfortable and all the owners talked about was their Nashua High School glory days. I thought it would be cool since they have a bar but instead it seemed to be a hurd of underage Nashua High School kids drinking. From what I was told that this is a NH thing that many kids go to clubs and bars underage in NH and drink and it is tolerated. Even it is the norm I feel uncomfortable about it and will stay away until something changes. I have been to twins which is fine if I want to be alone and by myself since the two times I have been in their I have been the only one. The only store that seems to be consistent and caters to a friendly and mature crowd is Holy Smokes on S. Willow St. in Manch. read more
